In July of 2023, we had our separate 1-car and 2-car garage floors finished by Tru Grit. The end…read moreproduct looked fairly good as long as you didn't look too closely. Some repairs after the initial installation were required which gives the floor an uneven look in some places. After the installation, the solvent smell in the 1-car garage never subsided making it impossible to be in that garage for any length of time. The 2-car garage did not have this problem. Tru Grit came back and added another topcoat in an attempt to eliminate the smell but that only helped slightly. After 3 weeks, the 1-car garage still had a fairly strong solvent smell. After 3 or 4 months, the smell did finally go away. The installation crew was sloppy. During the installation they marred the baseboards with their equipment which required touch-up painting in many places. They slopped the base coat on some of the shrubbery and ground cover. They dumped some sort of liquid in the grass in two different places which killed it, and they got some topcoat on the grass in a third place which also killed it. I had the curbing installed around the perimeter of both garages and they didn't do any preparation of those surfaces, covering blobs of left over sheetrock compound and caulk instead of first removing them. I also had them apply the basecoat to the threshold of the front door and they slopped it onto the door trim requiring significant touch-up painting. Tru Grit did offer to take care of correcting these items. Three years later, the floor looks pretty much like it did in the weeks after installation with one exception - The portion of the floor that is outside the garage overhead doors has yellowed quite noticeably. I noticed on their website in the Q&A portion that they don't actually answer the question as to how resistant the coatings are to UV exposure. The coating is still in place, but I am here to tell you, it DOES yellow over time.

He…read morehires druggies (they stunk of pot and kept taking breaks to smoke some more!) and inexperienced installers to install. We needed new flooring installed in the house we bought. Well Wally was very helpful and accommodating. We went into the store and picked what he had in stock. Well little did we know what was going to happen next. He had an installer named Robert come with his so called crew. They came in, prepped the floor for the carpet, while a side contractor that Robert himself had hired installed the vinyl plank flooring in the kitchen. The guy clearly had no idea what he was doing. It took him two days to install a very small section of flooring. He complained of his knees the whole time and kept making grunting noises. Robert and the rest of his so called crew decided to leave for the day and not do anything else. The carpet sat in the garage for two days for some reason. They said they were waiting for the other guy to finish. So I called Wally. He stated that he will have them come back. So they came back smelling of pot in our new house. Wow just wow. They weren't going to finish so Wally has someone else come in to finish the floor. They tore up what had already been done and put it back down. He did it in half the time the other guy did it in. So after about a week the vinyl flooring started to come up in a lot of places. So Wally decided to call the manufacturer and say it was the manufacturer's fault. The manufacturer sent out an inspector. They said it was poorly installed. So all along it was the stoned installer's fault. The manufacturer sent Wally new pallets of flooring so ours can be replaced once again. We have been going back and forth for about 8 months with Wally. He finally got the new material from the manufacturer and sent over a father and son team to redo what we thought would be the whole floor. Nope! It was only about half because they didn't want to move any furniture or appliances (even when my wife and I already had moved most of the stuff). I noticed one of the installers circling some of the planks and asked what he was doing. He stated (which I have on video) that Wally had some old planks from the warehouse he wanted them to use before they used the new stuff. Can you believe it!? He gave us the same old stuff as used before. They finished and now the flooring is coming up again. We have tried to work with Wally to compensate us with a partial refund. He has not budged at all. He wants to keep sending in different guys to disrupt our lives and tear apart our house. How many times would YOU keep letting in a company into your house that can't get the job done the first time? Whatever happened to workmanship, doing it right the first time, the customer is always right, and professionalism in this country? We definitely DO NOT recommend Blackburn Interiors.

Then suddenly, One day before the job, he asked 50% of the amount as advance payment. I paid him about 20% in advance without having met/spoke with him and agreed that remaining 80% would be made after the job is complete. All this while he insisted that he has 10 years of experience and is very good with this work. Then come Friday, he didnot show up.. On multiple followups he mentioned that he might not be able to come on Friday. I asked if he can come on Saturday. He said he will come first thing in the morning around 9-10 am. He finally came at about 2 pm and started working on kitchen backsplash. He then said i need to wind up early around 4.30 PM and went back with only few of the tiles installed yet. Here as well, he installed several tiles in the wrong direction. Then he said he will come early Monday morning. However on Monday, he didnot come and when i followed up with him on his eta around 11 am he said his car has broke down and he will come in afternoon. But he never showed up. He then said he will come Tuesday morning, which he finally came around noon. He then stick one line of tiles (worked very slowly) and around 5 PM said i need to go to Home depot as my glue is out. He then went out. And then he texts me from oustide saying I need remaining payment to buy materials. (The material cost here was already covered and way less than the initial 20% deposit). I replied that I will make the payment once you can come and finish it. But he never came back and behaved very rudely over chat demanding money in advance for work which he was not willing to complete. Many of the tiles he put have cracks, And he put the tiles in wayward wrong alignment all while saying that he has 10 years job experience. He ran away from incomplete job and texts me after going out of home and took 80% of the money completing only 25% of the job. This guy "Larry" is an aboslute cheat and doesnot know his work properly. I have never experienced such a horrendous customer service. Beware doing business with this guy LARRY!! (attached are snapshots of pending work which he left in middle and never come back, contrarily, demanding full payment)

They come to work 2-3 horas a day and 2-3 days per week. The house is full of dust all over. Been cleaning a lot to diminished the dust but since they don't finish with demolition we can not do anything. Been calling and asking them when and they always come with the same excuses. They don't even put inconsideration that my husband is a bed bound patient. Is been a nightmare with this project. We started with the bathroom are and they have not been able to finish that are and they have other areas to work. I guess this will take a month of Sundays to finish this project. The owner, Doug, came out to estimate the project and I appreciated his directness with options and costs on repair vs replace based on solid experience. His guys were there when promised, were polite and worked diligently until the fix was complete. They were fabulous about cleaning up their mess at the end of each day and protecting nearby furnishings. They also caulked my cabinets and replaced the wood floor under my sink. Their prices were significantly less than other estimates, everyone was experienced in their tasks so that the work was efficiently completed. They sub'd out the stucco work and it was a perfect match! I'd highly recommend them and will hope to have them back for bathroom upgrades in the near future.
