I drive from Tracy to get my face threaded. I used to go to a very well known lady in Tracy who was less than 5 mins from my house but I felt she did not take her time and just went through the motions until her next client was there 10 mins after I sat down. When I'm at Rubal's I can feel the difference in her craft. She takes her time and is a perfectionist so she's spotting hairs and plucking them out or going over them again with the thread, either way she's getting them out. This is my second time at Rubal Salon. Last year I had them do henna in my hair; full service with a haircut. Now I was back for threading, as the shop closer to my home has closed. Rubal is no longer available for walk-ins, I discovered. However I was able to book a same-day appointment, and while waiting I enjoyed the proximity to Valley Fair Mall and Santana Row. I needed to get a Brazilian wax but the lady was out which is ok but online it didn't reflect it so I would have booked it and not able to get it done. WHY I WENT HERE: - eyebrow threading - didn't realize this place was so close to where I live compared to other eyebrow threading places in Santa Clara I've been to THE LOOK (FROM THE OUTSIDE): - located off of Stevens Creek, so it's busy street parking THE LOOK (FROM THE INSIDE): - spacious - at the time I went, it was late morning on a weekday, and I only saw one worker at the time - while waiting I did use the bathroom and it was fine, clean enough CUSTOMER SERVICE: - the single worker that I saw was busy threading another client at the time I walked in, but it was unclear if there was a waiting/sitting area in the meantime - after some time she acknowledged me and told me to have a seat in the chair she was working on the other client in (once she was finished with that client) - after using the restroom I went to the seat I was directed to go to but the worker was busy doing who-knows-what in the back for quite some time - the actual threading results was great, it was just the wait time and no apologies made about making me wait so long were made read more

I booked an appointment here for a facial, scalp massage and eyebrows wax. I made the appointment for the 8/19. I booked the appointment 11 days before on 8/8. At 7pm the night before she cancelled it because she said that that's is the time she picks her kids up from school. Ok, but you had 10 days to tell me? All the sudden you realize you need to pick up your kids at that time? Not even giving me 24 hours notice is very unprofessional. Located close to home, so I went to Rubal beauty salon multiple times to get my eyebrows threaded. This place is located close to Walmart near San Tomas expressway. Limited parking outside the store by the side. They have a tiny lobby with magazines and pleasant instrumentals playing the whole time, which is good. Price is reasonable too. Mandeep is very friendly and does the threading well, but the other lady rips eyebrows like crazy. It was very painful and I wish Mandeep is available whenever I go. read more

I went there for a hair cut. First of all, I should say their prices are a lot compared to the service you would receive. She cut my hair uneven and styled them really bad. Her technique is very weird. after hair wash(with very cold water), she dried my hair first and then cut them. and then she said you are done. I looked worse than how I came in. I told her is this all? aren't you going to style my hair? and she said it's done since your hair is so dry I thought you would not want to heat style. I am not paying 60 dollars for a hair cut which is so bad and not even styled. My scalp was itchy had to go home and wash my hair. either her shampoo is expired or the brushes are not clean. I go to Ulta beauty salon all the time and pay 55 USD and walk out with a fabulous haircut and styled hair. I couldn't get an appointment with them that day and decided to try this place out. My hair is uneven shorter on the left side compared to the right side. I also got my eyebrows done requested to only get the extras removed and keep the thickness of my eyebrows. She went ahead and ripped them off anyways. Overall not happy with anything. Do not go there. read more

I found this place on yelp and I loved their eye-brow threading service. I walked in around 6:30 pm on Sunday evening and I was helped right away. She cleaned the eye-brows nicely and I was happy with the result. They are open till 7 pm on Sunday evening too, which is good since most of the other salons in the area close earlier. Parking was behind their main building and it is little dark especially in winters. The area seemed okay but it is good to look around to be extra cautious since that street is not busy one. Overall a good experience, I will surely visit again to get my eye-brows done and will try their other services too. read more

I was here for an underarm wax and it was brutal!! It was the most painful experience (and I've been getting waxed for a lot of years now). I don't know the name of the lady who did the waxing (it was not Mandeep) and without getting into too many details, it seemed like she was very very new to waxing. And it wasn't any cheaper than other places either (to get waxed from someone who did not know how to wax properly). There are great reviews for Mandeep but I don't think I am not going back there and I would not recommend the place for waxing (unless, based on other reviews, you are working with Mandeep, I guess). read more

I stopped by on a whim; well, not a whim because I actually used Yelp to located the nearest threading salon nearest my location. I didn't the name of the lady that did my eyebrows, but she did a stellar job. I came in looking like a Muppet and she had my eyebrows looking all kinds of fabulous. I paid $10 and they used the Square thingy for iphone to accept payment. It took everything within me not to laugh when she had me hold my eyebrow(s) to get certain eyebrows hairs. I usually go to Rubal's to get my eyebrows threaded and for waxing. They usually do a pretty good job. They're always willing to go over my brows again if I don't like it initially. The staff is very friendly. And given the high prices other salons charge for threading in the Bay, Rubal's pricing is pretty reasonable. read more

wow!! i am blown away. i needed an appointment today and my usual spot wasn't open, but i found an appointment quickly from yelp and i am not disappointed. the location was quite easy to find and it wasn't that bad for parking space (it is along the street,) but not a big deal. i came in and was seen right away. she got right to the point and i let her know my usual problem when it comes to my hair growth and she had no issues whatsoever. she was pretty fast and the service was quite relaxing. i'm so thankful for this place and will definitely be coming back!! thank you so much!!! read more

I was able to get a next day appointment without any issues. Excellent follow up with text and responsiveness. Although the owner ran late, she texted to let me know. The salon is spacious and has a few chairs to work from. There are retail items from her native country for sale as well. There was a palette of open used makeup at our station that was not sanitary or sealed. However I was just getting hair styled. The owner was kind and soft spoken and assisted me with my deep condition treatment, root touch up and blow dry. I was surprised by the charges as there was no listing of expenses- yet I handed over the 105 dollars. I tipped as is my custom. I'm not sure if it's everyone's cup of tea - but it is very third world style and I'm a globe Trotter so, I expected that much. read more

I am deeply saddened to write this review...it's lengthy to be fair. I started going to Rubal Beauty Salon for threading when the salon was located in Santa Clara. I felt badly when I noticed that the salon closed; it was never really busy, yet I thought I could have given her more business. Years later, I noticed a Rubal Beauty Salon on Stevens Creek Blvd. in San Jose! What are the odds?! A second opportunity to support a nice lady with a small business. Two weeks ago, I went in for some threading. The lady did not do a good job, but I tipped over 20% anyway - hair grows back, I could request a different person next time, and I was supporting Mandip's business...Did I see that bad experience as a sign (since I also made an appointment for henna that weekend)? Sort of, but I talked myself into keeping the henna appointment. The weekend rolls around, I am running my errands on Saturday before my henna appointment on Sunday, and I miss a call from Rubal Beauty Salon. No voicemail/no text. I figured that they were calling to remind me of my appointment. I ended up calling back later that day, they told me that they were closed on Sunday and asked if I could come in that day. Saturday was nearly over, I was across town, and did not have time to adjust plans last minute. Why did they schedule my appointment if they were going to be closed? Further, why did they not leave a voicemail or text me that they were going to be closed? What if I did not return the missed call? I rescheduled for the following Saturday...Did I see this as a bad sign? Yes, vaguely, but I talked myself into supporting Mandip and keeping the henna appointment. Finally, henna day arrives - I am excited! I took a Lyft, to avoid parking issues/delays, we got delayed by a train...Did I see that as a bad sign? Yes, I did, I almost called and just cancelled the appointment, but I talked myself into going. BAD IDEA! I arrived at the appointment. My naturally curly hair clean, detangled, and ready for henna. When she finished applying the henna, the stylist asked if the manager mentioned the cost. I replied, "yes, on the website it is $35." She said that if we did a hot oil treatment, the henna takes better. Then, she said that she uses the steam machine for the hot oil treatment. I was very impressed that Mandip had such a great setup! After waiting three hours, the stylist rinsed my hair and washed it once. I detangled my hair myself, as I could tell that she was not very experienced with curly hair. No worries, I was happy to help. I noticed that there was still henna left in my hair. Mandip said that was normal?? The stylist asked if I still wanted her to do the hot oil massage, I said yes. She told me that after the hot oil, my hair would be oily, we would have to wash it again. However, after the hot oil massage and steam, she did not wash my hair. I was directed to go checkout, with hair soaked in oil and dripping with water from the steam. Luckily I brought a few items with me that made leaving, looking decent, possible. Mandip told me that she told the stylist about the extra charges, but no one told me until checkout. When I mentioned to Mandip that the stylist did not tell me about the extra charges, Mandip got upset with me?! And, the stylist was nowhere to be found. Mandip charged me separately for the wash out of the henna, which one would think would be included; especially since the stylist only washed my hair once leaving henna still in my hair. If you are going to charge your customer $20 for a wash, shouldn't the hair be clean - no product left in the hair/washed more than once? I was also charged separately for the hot oil, head massage, and steam. The same steam the stylist told me that she uses for the hot oil treatment - how is steam extra if you advised me that you do the hot oil treatment with the steam?? I've gone here many, many times for eyebrow threading over the years and it's a hit or miss. I continue to go because it's generally easy to park, rarely have to wait, decently priced and conveniently on my way home from work. However, it feels like you never know what you're going to get. Mandip seems more reliable with her threading skills but is very rarely available and the other lady is inconsistent. Basically I get a slightly different shape each time and sometimes she cuts the eyebrow hair in a strange way where they lose the shape in just a few days. I think it's an okay place if you need a quick eyebrow refresh at the last minute but not if you're looking for something reliable and artistic. However, compared to other eyebrow threading places, they aren't painful and know how to be gentle with the skin. There was a time I drove there during store hours but they were closed! So if you really need something done without time to waste, try giving them a call to make sure they're there. read more

I've been going to Mandip for about 10 years now. This review is long overdue. If you want the kind of brows that make your girlfriends ask you, "Who does your brows?!" you need to go to Mandip. She's amazing. Her skill with threading is unmatched. But, there's more. She waxes my full leg/bikini/underarms...as well threading my brows and lip. I've never found a stray hair, no ingrown hair, I don't feel like I need to shower afterwards...that's how clean it feels. I actually followed Rubal Beauty Salon from their old location to the new one on Stevens Creek. It's a great change and definitely what the area needed. Mandeep has always taken care of me with her awesome eyebrow threading! If she can't assist me, I know she will find someone to help me and I greatly appreciate that! I love going to this salon! A few months ago a lost my regular "wax lady" to the apparent allure of Sacramento. Crushed, I went on a search for a new wax salon. I've been to places where they cause unbelievable pain (and waxing had never hurt my high-pain-tolerance skin), have left literal patches of hair on my lady parts, and cleaned up the (sticky) wax with tissue paper instead of oil. Yes, my nether regions looked the a 13 year old boy's tissue-ridden face from patching up all his errors! But, I digress... Let me get to Rubal... LOVED my experience!!! Found this place accidentally while walking from my new workplace to lunch. I stopped in, saw that it looked clean and professional, noticed the prices were the same as what I have been paying elsewhere and booked an appointment for that evening. When I got there for my appointment, I was warmly greeted and went in the room with no wait. I was given a soft terry cloth wrap to wear and there were hooks for my clothes/bag. Mandeep did an underarm & Brazilian wax and, although I hate to betray by former regular wax lady this way, it was the best wax experience I've ever had. It was quick and felt like almost nothing. Mandeep is really great! I have sensitive skin and if my threading is done too harsh, I tend to get a lot of break outs. But Mandeep was very careful. She shaped my eyebrows really great and even gave me a soothing aloe massage. I didn't get a single breakout! The prices are very reasonable and I was done in under 10 mins. read more

I am on yelp to find a new salon ... and I am writing this review only because I feel as a customer going away from this salon - I must let other yelpers know the reasons ! A very important reason being for the same services Mandeep charges different to different people ! Initially I was impressed with quality , price and customer services .. But I guess you get that only as first timers ... basically until you become a regular. With such good experience initially , I told all my friends to go there ... and so many of my friends started going there ( I can count 7 right away - there might be more I am forgetting ) So what exactly happened? Last time I went there , the quality was also not comparable to my initial visits .. No longer hot towel on feet while facial , lesser massage .. etc ... Price - I paid a higher value to same services I used to get done here earlier and guess what ?? .. same evening I meet my friend and come to know she pays lesser than what I paid ... even for more number of services ! Bang disappointment ! There is little more ... so this time (last time I went ) I had made a future appointment for 1 month later , which I was told I will get a reminder call .. I forgot about the appointment ... and haven't got any reminder till date :) Sorry but for me quality , service and price all matter ! All of which have gone away from my expectations . read more
