First off I'll say there are 2 different types of comic book stores. The ones that are so sterile, clean and organized that you know there are no deals to be had or hidden gems to be found. There at also the stores that are so packed and disorganized that you couldn't find something to get a deal on if you wanted to. Rubber Chicken Comics perfectly straddles the middle ground of those 2 examples. There are loads of boxes with .50 cent comics, $1.00 comics & $5 comics that are regularly refilled and always have people digging through them. They also have an amazing selection of gently used $5 graphic novels. Besides the boxes that all deserve time to dig though they have a clearly marked and organized section of new weekly comics, a wall of recent back issues for on going series and organized bins of older back issues. Somehow this shop also gets the best "wall books" in the area! From huge key books to rare variants, complete sets to signed books, original art sketch covers to golden age back issues. The wall is ever changing with assorted rarities at amazing prices. In addition to the comics they also have action figures (new and old), statues, vintage toys and games and other assorted collectibles. They offer weekly subscription pull list service and allow you to change on a monthly basis and give a 10-20-% discount based on the number of books on your pull list. They have bags, boards, boxes and other supplies as well. I can't recommend this shop enough there is always a great conversation or debate going on and everyone is welcome from the most seasoned collector to the newest comic fan. They ought to call this place "Rubber Dungeon Comics" because that's how it feels when you walk in. The lighting could definitely use some work... and that's pretty much my only criticism. The name is pleasantly somewhat deceiving as this is not just a comic book store. They have a TON of collectibles, including but not limited to action figures, statues, and even vintage stuff like the Kenner Star Wars toys! My wife and I seriously love bringing the boys here as its arguably one of the more kid-friendly stores around. The owner is friendly and very helpful as well. My first time going here, I noticed that they also have some original artwork for sale and couldn't resist one piece in particular that caught my eye (included below). I was visiting from out town, had some time to kill, and decided to pop in. The physical space is small, but they make good use of it. It's packed, but reasonably well organized. There is a lot to take in when you enter - many comics and collectables. Pretty much every comic you could want or ever think of is in this store. I had my eye on a zombie model kit, looked pretty cool. There were a couple kits so maybe next time I'm in I will buy it if it's still there. My boyfriend got a Star Wars comic but that's all we left with. I liked the giant E.T. in the back of the store. read more

Excellent comic book shop. Tons of variety. Has a good selection of the usual suspects (DC and Marvel) as well as a healthy portion of the independent labels as well. They also offer t-shirts and a large selection of action figures as well. Pretty sure they have more Star Wars figures than Target or even the Hasbro/Kenner archives! The staff are always friendly and inviting when I walk in. They also always have something interesting on the TV, so there's never a dull moment. Definitely shop here. read more

This is by far the best comic shop I have ever visited. They have (or can get) just about anything you may want. The staff is very knowledgable on golden, silver and modern age comics. They have HUGE back issue bins and hundreds a of long boxes of additional books. The "wall books" are always fairly graded and priced and they are restocked weekly! Rubber Chicken offers great discounts for subscribers, has awesome regular sales and they do up a Free Comic Book Day event like no other store!! Check them out and you won't be sorry. Their on staff artist Joe Medeiros does amazing things cheap (commissions, sketch covers & prints) and the shop is releasing their first book "Ace Chicken Space Chicken" in 2014! You know that scene in Pulp Fiction where the serial killers are using a store as a front, well this has that same kind of feel. It's dark, the windows are completely blocked and the kid at the register is the stereotypical comic shop guy sitting there watching the TV while you stumble around the shop. I've been to comic shops all over the world, and this reminds me of some of the off the main path bookstores in Europe but without the cappuccinos or snooty attitudes, although I think I'd prefer snooty over the blank stare of comic book kid. Open some windows, dust the stock and give that kid a cup of Java. read more

I'd give this store 5 stars if only it was bigger. For such a small store, the owners have really used the space effectively. They have a pretty good selection of older comics as well as all the new comics you'd want. They have mostly newer toys but they do get in vintage toys as well. Great selection of toys from the 80s! My friend almost purchased Shera's sword but thought better of it. Small store so there's a lot packed in. I loved the art work and a lot of it looked very unique. Someone was doing a meet and greet signing while we were there but I never saw any signage explaining who it was. Lots of deals on older comic books. We saw some oldies but goodies but refrained from buying. If they had had Saga 6 then they would have made some money from us but we couldn't find it. I love these stand alone comic stores because they're always unique and have their own identity. You should try to stop in if you're in the area and check out their huge selection. You might find a gem from the early 90s that you never thought you needed! read more

I started frequenting this comic shop for the past year. They have EVERYTHING that you could want!! There prices are EXTREMELY fair, if not great. A true collector knows this is a great store and the staff are very knowledgable and super duper friendly. I go in with my 1 year old daughter sometimes and they help me out every time.
