I was fed up with my nose screw which was too long and kept stabbing me, so I looked for a local piercing place where I could have it adjusted or get a new one (I had my nose pierced in Seattle). Most places were downtown but Rubi's was nearby in Watertown. I went to the very accessible and adorably designed shop and met Madison, who is super nice and incredibly helpful. I had never heard of flat-back piercings but she explained how they worked and showed me her options for jewelry. I picked one and she put it in my nose quickly and painlessly. She also put in a couple tiny hoop earrings that I am too fumble-fingered to put in myself without getting frustrated and resorting to throwing things My whole experience at Rubi's was overwhelmingly positive, and I resolved to go to Madison for all my future piercing-related needs. Plus, I LOVE the flat-back piercing! It's so much more comfortable than the nose screw; I generally don't feel it at all. I wish it had been an option when I got my nose pierced. I learned about why it may not have been from Madison (has to do with the company's patent which recently expired) when I asked her for help buying alternate jewelry for my flat-back setup. I was confused by conflicting terminology on various sites and not sure about measurements asked for, so I asked Madison what she thought about a few listings and also some questions about threadless ends, posts, gauge, length, etc. She replied right away with an extensive amount of info and recommendations; I now feel confident to buy jewelry that I can bring to Madison to insert while I remain calm and relaxed, no need to throw anything. Both my girls got their ears pierced by Madison. She was very patient, and explained what was happening every step of the way. There were several check ins to make sure my girls were comfortable and happy with where the piercings would be. Madison showed them how to clean their ears, and my girls practiced cleaning on model ears. This is going to be long :) The shop is inside what it looks like a hair salon only to discover it's not! Pristine clean and cute little place with a sweet lovely vibe! My 15 year old wanted her 2nd set of lobes pierced and I wanted a helix one. Keith was our guy! Super calm, patient, friendly and knowledgeable! He walked us through the whole process, gave us suggestions, made sure we were prepared and happy with the placements before going ahead and did an outstanding job! I got to watch him do it to my daughter and couldn't believe how he does it without a gun! Super well done! We are both extremely happy with the results and it was not very painful! They have nice earrings to choose from which of course are not included in the piercing price. It ended up being a bit pricey ( mea culpa for choosing an expensive model myself :) but totally worth it for a service that's first class! We will be back! read more

Madison is by far the most knowledgeable about piercings. This was my teen's third attempt at ear piercing due to issues with infection and keloids the first two times (not done by Madison). Madison was so accommodating. I was on the fence about getting my piercing before hand, but I was sold after I called Madison and she sent me pictures of the jewelry options she had. I don't know if I've had a piercer be so kind through the whole process. At one point I had to cancel because of travel delays on my end and she was very understanding. How did it take me so long to find this hidden gem? Took my 9-year old daughter to get her ears pierced and it was such a wonderful experience! This little piercing studio is tucked away in My Salon Suites in Watertown. Our piercer, Madison, was amazing with my daughter, carefully explaining every step of the process to her, and as well as all the after care on a fake ear, then had my daughter show her to make sure she understood. The studio is a private 1 chair studio, so it was quiet, perfect for the kids that might have anxieties triggered by noise or other distractions. To wrap up the whole experience, Madison offers a little gift to her junior customers to make the day a little extra special. To join the fun, I got my ears pierced too, adding to my total of 15 ear piercings (so my ears have really been "around the block" ). I couldn't imagine bringing my daughter anywhere else and am so happy we ended up at Rubi's. read more
