I'm notorious for having one pair of shoes and wearing them right down. This is problematic for several reasons. One: shoes don't last very long. Two: Having only one pair of acceptable shoes available which are inappropriate for the current occasion. For instance, I was wearing converse to work, and I'm on my feet from 9 till 6. The result is sore feet; very, very sore feet. And cramping afterwards. My poor tootsies! Until...POW, new shoes! - Clarks have a sale. I buy not one but two. I'm sorted for work with my pretty new brogues. Did I mention that they're super comfy? They're super comfy. And I'm sorted for walks/cycle/comfort in my new walking shoes. And it was a sale so I got myself a mega bargain. I really just went in and bought what I was after, and then was on my merry way, but staff did offer to help me out, which was really nice. I love my new shoes and I'm all for loving your feet and caring for them with good, supportive shoes. And stylish shoes too, that's the great thing about Clarks. I'm so comfy ALL day on my feet, so very comfy. Thank you, Clarks, for making the rushed-off-your-feet kind of days feel like 'I got this' kind of days. - With good shoes you can do (just about) anything!

The staff are excellent in this branch and have always taken their time to measure my childrens feet properly and check the shoes fit and have growing room. Their prices can be more expensive than some shoe shops but the quality of the shoes and reassurance that you know they fit you feet properly makes them well worth the price. The have a small section of bags, gym shoes, umbrellas etc as well and have a good range of polishes and cleaners to suit various types of shoes or boots.

There are quite a few different entrances and it can be easy to lose your sense of direction. It has a large Debenhams and has the back door to M&S. There is a Primark too, albeit a small one. There are also the essentials for a place like this including Zara, Next, Boots and Topshop. The centre has two car parks. One has 1000 spaces and one has 350 spaces. They do a very good deal on Sundays, where they charge £2 for the whole day! Much better than the extortionate prices in Edinburgh and Glasgow. There were plenty of lifts and toilets. For a Sunday, it really didn't seem that busy. Even Primark, known to be a hellhole at peak times, was very peaceful and tidy! I suppose the reason for 3 stars is that it is a shopping centre - but it is modern and convenient. One thing that needs to be improved is the ex-BHS which is still lying empty. The Murray Place exit is worse though.

Call me blind, but I never saw a food court, but then again, I wasn't looking for one. I'm glad I stumbled into this place though because I was beginning to think that my GPS had lied to me about a shopping center being in this location, and if there is one thing I can't stand, it's a lying GPS. I made a few purchases and bumped into a security guard making his rounds, but other than that there is not much else to say. The center was clean and well lit. It also had an interesting little children's play area that consisted of a spider made of wood with a metal slide. I was amazed because that would never fly in my country. Parents would be up in arms threatening lawsuits if the shopping center didn't immediately encase the play spider in extra padded foam rubber. Kudos to you parents of Stirling! Sometimes a child has to knock his head on something to learn about gravity.

Many of the shops I visited were staffed by people who knew surprisingly little about how kilts should fit, fabric quality, etc. In some shops, it was assumed that I was not a serious buyer. After an especially negative experience with an unhelpful saleswoman in Stirling, I finally found the kilt I wanted to buy just down the road at Clan Kilts Ltd. As it happened, it was an ex-hire heavyweight kilt being offered at an excellent price, so I felt I had really scored.... but it got even better! I had already committed to buying the kilt, but the gentleman in the shop volunteered to replace the somewhat worn leather straps at no additional charge. He measured to make sure the new straps would be ideally placed. He even offered to have the kilt pressed. Because I already felt that I was getting such a great deal, I had not requested any of these services; they were all offered unexpectedly. I had the kilt shipped home to the USA. The charges were extremely reasonable. The kilt was delivered very quickly, with new straps, etc, just as promised. I have never had better retail service anywhere in the world. If Clan Kilts provides such excellent service to a tourist whom they're unlikely to see again, and who is buying a discounted item, I can only assume that they must bend over backward for their local repeat clientele.

Hidden away on Drip Road, it really does a good job of camouflaging among the houses nearby. I was surprised to know it's been there for ten years. Considering the countless empty buildings in Stirling town, as good a cause as Bargain Stop definitely deserves a more central location. But I'd say that finding it in its current spot was all part of its charm. With a small, rickety sign outside, it calls you in to 'The Bargain Stop.' Bargain? I love a bargain? Where? I wasn't quite sure I was heading in the right direction but regardless, I headed in. What I found was a charity shop. A funky one. The stock was really eclectic and they had quite the range of shoes. The beauty range was also worth having a look at with plenty of potential gifts. I just bet if you headed in on the right day, Bargain Stop would certainly make your day and you'd be leaving with an incredible buy. Bargain Stop's story will warm your heart. The money they raise enables them to offer daily meals to the local homeless and disadvantaged. It's for that reason I'll be back. Whilst nothing in the clothing section caught my eye this time round, there's certainly plenty of stock to browse and many interesting things to be found in every corner. I left happy with my chirping bird clock, excited to pop back again when I'm next in that part of town.
