I used to eat here almost everyday for lunch. Me being a creature of habit would eat the salad bar for $5.99. Because of health issues I haven't been able to eat here in a while. I found out ownership has changed and so has a lot of other things. I got a burger and a blt both with fries. I expected to pay $10. For both of them. I got a salad to go and they brought me a little container that could barely hold. Cheeseburger. When the ticket arrived it was $11.00!!!! When I questioned the cashier, she said that was the normal price and there was nothing I could do about it! I will never go to this restaurant again. it's my Dad's favorite place to eat and we have been going every two weeks for a very long time. it's hit or miss with the food for me but Dad loves it so we kept going. The server today was completely unprofessional, hateful, rude, and belligerent. It all started over ice tea. The tea was strong and bitter so I asked for water instead and obviously offended her. it went from bad to worse with her screaming at me and my dad. she just wouldn't stop. I asked her to please go away. I tried hard to stay calm and respectful. She kept calling me love and honey while she yelled about how she just made the tea. My dad asked for a box so we could leave and she still wouldn't stop. Nobody could stop her. They even shut the door while I was paying for the food and you could still hear her yelling and calling me the devil. I have never experienced anything like this in my life. she should be fired for her behavior. Unreal. We will find a new place to eat for sure! I paid to stay from December 29th 2023 until January 2nd 2024 and come new years morning they were telling me I paid through the first which forced me to pay for that extra day bc I'm in the middle of trying to move from my parents to my own house and I can't get in my own place til the 2nd so be careful some of their staff clearly don't know what they are doing and to top it all off there house keeper was being extremely rude and inconsiderate when she knocked on my room door they only got a star bc I had to put a star to submit the review but the diner on the other hand 5 stars for sure read more

The sign on the door said the restaurant closes at 8:00, we got there at 7:15 and all we heard was the waitress tell a gentleman that she taught her kids better and that they know not to come in to a restaurant an hour before they close. And she kept telling everyone how she had worked a double shift and would not stop talking about how she didn't want to be there all night. It got to be really awkward. She ordered us to sit in one section and the salad bar was closed because she had to sanitize it. We tried to make the best of it and thought she might be having a bad day.... Fast forward to last night... SAME EXACT THING! This time several people came in and she was terrible to them to the point one couple left. There are currently 3 reviews on YELP for this long time staple of a diner for locals, and travelers alike. All three are negative. My family has a long history of dining here - as we grew up in OK, although have been in CA for 10 plus years now. Last week, we came through on our recent road trip to Louisiana, and wanted a delicious breakfast. We purposefully skipped Norman - full of places to eat, and drove out to Ruby's. Once again were met with friendly service, delicious food, amazing low prices, and a clean facility. I am sure there are things that are not perfect, and bad days happen. But I am giving 5 stars to try to average out the deliberate low ratings. I will for sure be back, if ever in the area. I want to have as many biscuits and gravy from Ruby's as possible. Traveled to Purcell for a horse show and heard about this motel with great breakfasts. Sure, why not! Plus I only really need a place to wash off the horse grime and crash for a few hours. The rooms were clean although a bit dated. The beds were decently comfortable (after a day at a horse show everything is pretty comfortable to lay down on). The staff was SUPER friendly and very accommodating and even called me "sweetie". The little restaurant was very quick and the food was good. Overall, a decent place for a decent price. Usually would give that type of place a three star rating, but I WAS CALLED SWEETIE..... So there's an extra star. read more

I only rated this with 1 star because there wasn't an option for 0 stars. First let me start off with the fact that this place only being $60 on Thanksgiving night should have been hint enough. But we had to have a place to stay, every where else was booked (hint 2?). I didn't expect the Ramada or Holiday inn, but I didn't expect this night mare. This is what to expect. We go in get the key, the lady was nice enough to say 'its back over there'. Ok. So we drive over and find our room. We go inside and turn the heat on. Fortunately there was a sign informing us to turn it on low for a bit then high so it will work. I'm thankful they left instructions because I would hate to have been sitting there an hour later freezing still. Then we notice flies buzzing around. Thankfully they left a FLY SWATTER on the counter for us!!! I AM NOT KIDDING. But thats not the best part. I go into the vanity are and almost throw up! Because there was a disgusting, filthy towel ON THE COUNTER(!!!) with a sign, similar to the heater sign, stating "For your convenience, please use this towel for your extra dirty jobs". WTF, OMG. I had no idea what kind of place I was subjecting my children to. Lesson learned for sure. I hope you read this before staying at this place if you are like me. I don't want to know the people they expect to stay there. It was a nightmare. I didn't even shower because I figured I was better off just getting the heck outta there ASAP. We left several hours before we planned due to how nightmarish this place was. I didn't even want to sleep. =/ BTW: There is no microwave, no fridge, no blow dryer, no shampoo/conditioner etc. Bring your house if you plan to stay here. I would also strongly recommend bringing your own linens and a bag to store them in until you can get home and clean them. read more

My family and I stayed at Ruby's Inn, they had a microwave, mini fridge, and table&chairs in the room. There was some stains on the sheets and washcloths. We were also in a non smoking room, but it still had the cigarette smell which sucked. So I'd probably give this place 2 stars, it's three because of the restaurant. We ate breakfast here and the food was excellent but there was a bit of a wait. I'd definitely recommend the restaurant, the staff were very friendly. Well I ate at Ruby's about 3 weeks ago, I had the Chicken fried steak dinner, it was lousy ! So today I figured I'd give it Aanother try, maybe last time was just a bad day. But today, it was much more nasty ! The Chicken Fry was soaked and sitting in a bed of grease ! My baked potato had a strange color and when I took a bite they tasted like grease ! Used to go here when I was a kid and I came back today for Father's Day. This place has gone downhill BAD. My food was burnt, my moms fries were cold and stale, and my brothers steak was too dry. We waited over half an hour for our food and the guy next to us that got there 20 minutes after us got his food at the same time. They just serve in bulk. They are lazy and try to do things what's easier for them, not what's best for the customer. They also kept saying my brother's toast was on the way and 1 hour later it never came so we just left. I've been spending a lot of time in Purcell the last couple months. I've been eating out around town and trying all the different options. While I haven't been everywhere, I've been to most. I must say that so far this is my favorite restaurant in town. It's not fancy outside or in, but it was clean and well maintained. All 3 of us had a burger today. I had the double with cheese and bacon. What a treat. The patties seemed hand formed. It was cooked on a flat grill and had a nice sear to the outside. While it was done all the way through with no pink, the sear helped it maintian it's juices. A perfectly cooked burger. It was huge too! Seemed like the patties are 1/3 lb so the double was a smooth 2/3 pound burger. Awesome! Potato salad had a good flavor, but was a bit to smooth my my tastes. Id prefer something with more chunks in it. I still ate it all. As we were eating I saw a chicken fried steak and mashed potatoes dish go out. We will be giving that a try on our next visit. It was HUGE and looked homemade. They said they fried them on a flat grill, not in a deep fryer. Yum. You could tell there is a lot of coffee drinking done there as they had their own mugs and I saw a server carrying a tray with a lot of them on it out of the back to the dining room. read more

One decent experience after church on Sunday made me want to go again with family from out of town. It was a disaster and embarrassing. They sat us at two tables far from each other allthewhile a huge table remained empty for over 40 minutes with 2 people holding it for others. Oh, and that non existent group got the last of the biscuits and gravy that we could have had. They didn't even attempt to replace them with toast or modify the price. My son's steak was honestly rotten smelling. He couldn't even cut through the meat it was of such poor quality. read more

Really love Ruby's it's a great place to go for breakfast or lunch or even dinner. Why many people focus on the exterior of a restaurant how flashy it is how much noise the music can make, Rubie's continues to focus on just good food. When I want to go to lunch or breakfast with a friend of mine and we want to be able to talk, not being constantly interrupted by the waitstaff and just really have a good time we go to Ruby's. It says something about the restaurant when your wait staff has been there for 30 years. They know the regulars and even if you're not a regular they always treat you with genuine hospitality and respect. I recommend this restaurant over other options,especially chains. If you've never been to Ruby's, you are missing out! It is delicious, locally-owned, homestyle food like your momma and your gramma make. Well, I don't know your momma or your gramma, but it's like my momma and gramma make. Technically it is a motel with a restaurant attached but I know nothing about the motel. Back to the food! It is always delicious. The salad bar is actually one of my favorites in the entire metro area (even though Purcell is not quite part of the metro). It has lots of yummies--pickled beets and okra, 2 types of "regular" pickles, black olives, onions, tomatoes and more. There is a pasta salad and some deliciousness made of broccoli, raisins, nuts and I don't know what else. Many of the meals come with the tasty salad bar, and everything is very affordable and made to order. My fave thing on the menu is the open face chicken fry sammi. It comes with toast and your choice of potato, like fries or baked potato or something else. I get the gravy on the side, that way my chicken fry isn't soggy when I go home and eat it again for another meal. Or 2! Now! The BLT. My grams LOVES the BLT. And if the awesome cook/chef Trent is working, he will gladly serve your BLT cut into 1 inch cubes . Just ask him. All the servers are great, but Crystal is fabulous. Just go. You won't regret it. We usually eat somewhere else when we are in Purcell at mealtime. Yesterday, my father in law was with us and recommended Ruby's to us. We were served some of the best hamburgers I have had in years! Patties were crispy around the edges, the buns grilled, and overall just delicious. My compliments to the grill master. I'll be returning soon, I imagine. read more

You definitely get what you pay for. Our water ran nonstop in the bathtub. I did like the addition of a heat lamp (light?) in the bathroom. The bed and pillows seemed to have a thin sheet of plastic on them so when you slept it was as if the sheets stuck to your back. Probably wouldn't return. read more

When u check in and pay in cash she wont give you a receipt saying you paid anything then when it is time to check out she doesn't remember you paid. They have bugs in the pool that don't clean. Plus they have roaches in the hotel. Not a good place at all. read more

My family had a funeral to attend in Purcell and a family member familiar with this restaurant and hotel recommended it. We did not stay there due to bad reviews on this page. However, our entire family stayed besides us and the rooms were fine, clean, and budget priced. The food was excellent. We had breakfast there and the sausage gravy was perfect, coffee hot and service friendly and attentive. The waitress brought children at table next to us stickers to play with and the menu is kid friendly. Would definitely eat there and stay again. read more

This place may live off of local mystique but it is far enough off the Interstate that I doubt it gets enough traveller business to make up for the negative reviews. From my experience here, I have to deduct that the negative reviews are plants and intentional attacks. Granted, Darcie got the lunch streak; it was bland but cooked correctly. But that is just added support of my policy to NEVER order steak a restaurant. They are never worth the money and you could always have done better at home. I got mother freaking turkey and dressing in the middle of July. The dressing was a little softer than my personal preference but it tasted amazing. Service and management were on top of their jobs. The clientele was on the ancient side but old people won't bother you if you don't bother them. We are tattooed, pierced, and wear bright, scary colors. I stayed at the motel a few years back. The price was right and the room adequate. I saw so many people parked to eat at their restaurant. It was a thing of the past as few motels have built-in diners. I was very dissapointed at the food. I ordered fried fish and it was lost in the batter. everything was frozen except for the salad bar which I should have stuck with. the dessert was some canned pudding. The roll and butter and the green beans were the only thing worth eating. I was shocked at how many people were lined up to eat sunday lunch. Perhaps they don't know any better. Ive eaten at Ruby's restaurant many times over many years, and food is always good if you like plain country cooking. Pies are to die for. Motel needs updating, but is always clean and you can't beat the price. There are 5 Pizza places in Purcell, including "Jo's" so we all appreciate Ruby's food. I'm in Oklahoma on a construction job and Staying at Ruby's. The people there have been friendly and attentive. It's dated but clean and I never need for anything. The food at the restaurant was good and there was plenty of it. I've walked over there twice for a meal, and was told both times to just keep brining my tea glass back all day for refills. My husband and three children are in OKC for a softball tournament. Last night, our original hotel at I-40 and Meridian was in the direct path of a huge storm producing multiple tornadoes. We made the decision to put our children in the car an drive south to attempt to avoid the worst if the storms. We made it as far as Purcell and stopped for a break and dinner. After hearing coverage of the destruction on the radio, we made the decision at this time to book a room, just in case we couldn't get back into the city. We chose Ruby's Inn because it was the ONLY place with rooms still available. The storm ended up catching up with us and we hid in the WalMart for a period of time. Thankfully we were all safe, but exhausted having been outrunning this storm for over four hours. Our kids were a mess - tired, scared, cranky. We decided to use our room at Ruby's. We drove to the hotel and my husband went inside to check in. He came out 45 minutes later and informed me THEY GAVE OUR ROOM TO SOMEONE ELSE!!! After we had already paid for it!!! They didnt end up charging our credit card and we did finally make it back to our original hotel around midnight. I am SO thankful we didn't give them any money. What a horrible thing to do to people! They were unapologetic and rude! I wouldn't give them a penny if I had read a review like this! read more
