David has years of experience, and knows a ton about what to look for in a home. He'll steer you clear of homes if he notices major fixes in the near future. He'll drive you toward homes that really fit who you are. He's responsive, knowledgeable, delightful, and extremely helpful. He takes 'above and beyond' to another level. Some of our experiences with…read moreDavid were positive and some not so much; enough things bothered us that I felt the need to say something. As other reviews have stated, David has a good understanding of how to prepare a house for market, he responds quickly to emails, takes good home pictures, and is knowledgeable about NC Real Estate Laws and processes. We also had some negative experiences. David felt that our house needed some sheetrock and painting work done prior to listing. The painters that he recommended and hired were horrible to the point that we almost fired them. They never arrived on time and were consistently one to almost three hours late with no explanation given. The quality of their work was not good; they did a poor job fixing interior sheetrock cracks. They were also hired to re-tape, mud, and paint our garage ceiling. They left our garage in such a messy condition that it took us two days to clean-up. They also ruined some of our possessions. Pertaining to determining the listing price, I felt that I had a better understanding of the current real estate market. After doing some research I felt that we could ask for $20K over David's recommended list price, so we agreed to increase the price. David was not as up on current home valuations as he should have been in this rapidly changing market. You need to stay on top of these changes to get top dollar. David seemed to be more fixated on the number of offers a home would get rather than pricing the house to attract fewer but higher quality offers. With the current red hot market you are bound to get homebuyers who lost out on several bids. These and cash sales are the people who are driving offers up. In the end, we did get over the listing price with our house selling right away. I do feel that David did not stick up for us in a way that I had wanted and swept behavior problems that we had with the buyer under the rug. For example we had multiple instances of the buyer sending their packages to our house prior to taking possession at closing. He had an unwillingness to ask them to stop or to tell them what they were doing was inappropriate. There was plenty of time for their package to be delivered to their own address or they could have picked-up their order themselves. Our move required two moving trucks, one for boxes going to an apartment and another to storage. We did not need the hassle and aggravation of keeping track of someone else's possessions. It was hard enough to keep up with our own. Lastly, we received confusing emails from David which tip-toed around whether we should leave the house for the buyer's termite inspection during the week of closing. "You do not need to leave the house for the termite inspection, but you could step out if you would like to and it is usually a good idea for the sellers to leave. They will find out tomorrow morning when they might be able to get a termite inspector in there." Later, he tells us that we didn't need to leave. So, I did not understand why he didn't say this in the first place! For the above reasons our experience should have been better, and I would be reluctant to use David again or recommend him to others.

It's taken me a month past closing to finally sit down and do it because I read all of the reviews here and thought, what's left to say that hasn't been already? Here's my attempt. Silly, naive, first time buyer me thought, "What difference does it make what realtor you get?" HA! After being reduced to tears and headaches of frustration with one realtor, I reached out to Quentin. He gave us 20 minutes of his time while on vacation and apologized for taking 13 minutes to send us an e-mail when he promised it'd take 5. This is not an exaggeration. We finally met Q in October- once again- BEFORE we lived in the Triangle for him to show us houses while we visiting/interviewing. We were already sold on working with him, but were relieved to find that our senses of humor and style of banter aligned perfectly (or, at the very least, that he pretended to laugh along with us). It would be a few months before we finally got "the one," but having someone to enjoy the process with made a huge difference for us. A surprise first pregnancy for us sort of shifted our needs as far as space goes, and Quentin didn't miss a beat helping us sort out our search parameters. Even still, we were all over the place in terms of location and budget. Durham? Raleigh? Cary? We saw multiple homes in all of these areas. Q is seasoned enough to stand by patiently and let newbies figure things out. This was our hugest, most enormous, insanely large purchase in our 27-year-old lives and it took time to get ready for it. Like, you know, 8 months or so. We were also looking during the holiday/winter slump, when supply was low but demand was high. All in all, we put offers on 7 different homes before getting one accepted on fabulous #8. Our lack of success early on had nothing to do with Quentin's skill, prowess, charm, or ability. The market was just cray, y'all. We got beat by cash offers, people willing to close 3+ months out from accepting an offer, and people willing to WAY overpay. Don't worry- he is efficient, quick, and will bend over backwards to make sure you're making the right move for YOU. I firmly believe that our losses led us to the perfect house for us. I'm serious. Come see it. When it comes to the nitty gritty of offer writing and negotiating, there is no one better than this guy. He was able to secure us some extras at closing that made a big difference for us (and our diaper fund). It can be terrifying to sign the papers on a purchase of this magnitude, but never once did I question that we were in the best of hands. He was on our side, on our team, fighting for us nonstop until we found our home. He's a busy guy but always made us feel like he had time for us. I'm not sure if you learned anything new that you didn't know from the countless other 5-star reviews listed here, but as I was typing this I realized that the beauty of our experience is that it led us to OUR first home, where we'll be making (and have already made) the best of memories- including bringing our son into it next month.
