Having had a flood disaster which destroyed our carpeting, our first stop was Ruggieri Carpet. We were greeted by a sales person who pleasantly guided us to the section where we could find the right carpet for our steps and landing, describing that it had to be a commercial grade due to the heavy traffic in the area. We were able to take samples home, and easily made an appointment for an estimator to come to our home to measure and advise. Everything went like clockwork in terms of procedure and promptness, and Ruggieri's made it easy. The rug was ordered, the date was set for installation, the installer was fantastic attending to every detail, and when we saw one little problem, the installer returned the next day. Worst experience I have ever had with a company and customer service in my life. I purchased carpet with a warranty, which they used every excuse under the sun not to honor. The employee Diane is hands down the worst customer service rep I have ever encountered. For almost seven months she promised to provide me information relating to my claim and didn't. I had to repeatedly call the store to find out the status of my claim. I was told I would be called back by Diane and she never called back. This happened at minimum seven times. Finally, I called and spoke with the owner Bernie, who was even worse than Diane. He acted nonchalant about horrible customer service, refused to honor my warranty, made no apology for Diane's awful behavior, was sarcastic, and didn't seem to care about the horrible impression his company makes. With all of the businesses in Rhode Island, there is no need to give money to a company whose owner doesn't care about his customers. This company is a sham and they offer warranties which are completely meaningless. They will not honor warranties and will avoid you should you have a problem with your carpet. Between Diane and the owner Bernie I have no idea how this place constantly brags about their good customer service. read more

Very dissatisfied with Ruggieri Carpet. We had vinyl plank flooring installed in the entire house. They look terrible. When we called them back they said it was the subfloor . Wouldn't you think a company in business for many years would tell the customer that the subfloor should be changed before installing the new floor?? I will never go back there. Save your time and money and go elsewhere. read more

Great place to waste your time! I have a new area rug that was a few inches too long for my room. I call Ruggieris to see if they trim area rugs. They reply yes if it fits in our machine we can do that for you. So I roll up the 12x9 area rug and pack it into my car and drive to the store. When I walk in I tell them I have an area rug in my car that needs to be trimmed. I get a reply we don't do that here. I explain I just called they told me to bring it in. Still same reply yeah we don't do that here. The store was very busy and I got the vibe they would rather sell someone new flooring and take higher priced jobs than trim an area rug which was not easy to bring to the store after they already told me on the phone they would. Awful customer service not even an apology. I'd give zero stars if it was an option. Awful experience stay away if you value you time and expect excellent customer service. read more

What a royal disaster this place is. I went with my elderly mother to select hardwood flooring for three rooms and an area carpet. She got a quote for the job and agreed to put down roughly half. The workman arrived as scheduled but he was alone and there was no way he could do the job by himself. He said the place (Ruggieri) hasn't been the same since the original owners left; the office staff didn't seem to know the business. Boy, was that a prophetic comment! The workman actually had to get a friend of his to help him complete the job. But that is when the fun started. My mother received reams of paperwork after the fact, none of which was comprehensible to her as the store had taken her deposit and divided it up (according to some formula known only to them) into the three separate jobs they decided to divide the job into. Suffice it to say that I have called the store 4 times now trying to understand how much she owed, etc. and the last time I called I talked to Bernie Ruggieri who basically called me a liar for saying I didn't have the paperwork I needed to determine how much my mother's second payment should be. He was nasty, ready for a fight and unprofessional and immediately on the offensive when I was just trying to confirm the numbers at hand. He literally accused me of lying when I said I didn't have all the final invoices and wanted to confirm the final amounts due with him. I am a school administrator and have a masters degree in finance so I knew what I needed to talk to them about and confirm. But I was treated like somebody trying to pull a fast one over on them. I have NEVER had an experience like that one; I was shaking when I got off the phone with those horrible people. I was just trying to determine the facts to see if indeed they had overcharged my mother $1,200, which it certainly looks like they did. Perhaps this is why they're going on the offensive?? I would not recommend this place to anybody who expects good customer service and up front accounting and billing. Something is rotten in Denmark...I mean, in Cranston. read more
