I understand the need to rearrange merchandise, but it still pisses me off. Today when I went into my Schnucks, they had flipped the organization of their shopping carts. The smaller two basket carts use to be on the right side of the corral, as you entered the store. Now they are on the left side, on the far side of the lobby. I understand the change, they want you to take a larger cart in hopes that you purchase more items. Sorry, not happening. I like my small cart. When I entered the store, I was entering with other seniors and we all were taken back of the cart reorganization. We all figured it out and stepped to the left to get the two tier carts. To be honest, I still miss the red hand baskets. For me they were the perfect size for a single person. Some of my favorite departments are the salad bar, seafood, deli and bakery. I like the salad bar because, I can make a delicious salad and take it home. Being single, buying all the ingredients for a salad is not cost effective. So much of it goes to waste. The same is true for the bakery. When I want something sweet, I can buy a single serving instead of baking an entire cake or pie. The seafood and deli are great places for me to grab lunch items when I am working my part-time job. In front of the prepared foods they have already packaged like; Chicken Salad, Cole Slaw, Potato Salad and other prepared side dishes. The seafood department has similar offerings. This Godfrey Schnucks is my hometown grocery store and it's close to my home. I'm easily here 3 times a week, so I'm a familiar face to most cashiers and some floor clerks. Since I usually buy 10 or fewer items, I'm a frequent user of Self Check-Out. When I have items that need to be weighed or I did some serious shopping and bought 11+ items I go through the cashier line. Self or cashier check-out, the staff is always friendly.

At Walmart, when you schedule a grocery pickup, there are 38 parking spots. Even if it's a peak hour or before a holiday, you will have a place to park for the pick-up. Schnucks uses Instacart, and this location has only four parking spots for grocery pickup. If the store is even somewhat busy, expect some or all four spots used by people shopping in the store. Schnucks does nothing about that. Also, they often screw up the order. Never happened once at Walmart in the last 8 months. My last time in the store was to buy an item from the meat deli. The young butcher was a total jackass from the start. When I have time, I'll drive to Scott AFB's commissary for the only better prices than Walmart that I've found.

The customer service is what you'd expect from a small town market, personalized and friendly. They offer monthly meat bundles that are budget friendly. Their brats will put, Johnsonville Brats to shame and Jimmy Dean's sausage cannot hold a candle to their sausage. Proof that buying local is a good thing. Some of their brands are generic, but with today's economy that is a good thing. There are lots of single little coolers around the store, filled with perishable products. Take note of the prepared foods near the butcher counter. You'll find some delicious side dishes for those tasty brats. Another end-cap to check out, is their branded spices. They're just as good as those expensive name brand spices. If you haven't shopped the aisles of Schwegel's, I recommend you correct that ASAP. You just might become a frequent shopper.

It's all great. They also have a small section in the meat department with a rotating hot item or two such as sausages, kabobs, chicken tenders. Love grabbing anything from there!! They have a large fridge packed to the brim with every kind of premade salad you can imagine (pesto pasta, caprese, different potato salads, sweet salads, baked beans, bean salad... so much more and in different convenient sizes. There's cold cans of soda in a bin at checkout. Everyone is kind and helpful. Love this family owned local grocer!!

I asked an employee to check to see if the price was correct. It was showing a much higher price . We took the 50.00 bike to return desk to see if they could sell it to me for price showing where the bike was in the rack .I was told that they did not have the authority to do so, that manager would make that determination. I asked if I could speak with him. The desk called for him to talk with me. About 15 minutes later a person walked up . His personal appearance lead me to believe he was a customer not the manager. I asked him if I could buy the bike for the price that was listed . In no certain terms was he willing try to work with me . I went home and contacted Godfrey Walmart and was able to get a bike shipped to me that slightly cheaper for $50.00.Very bad experience !!!

The customer service was top notch. The shelves were always well stocked. My local Walmart now is referred to as "the out of stock store." If you have a list you are guaranteed to leave with only 2/3 of the things on that list as my current Walmart WILL be out of stock. My local Walmart must have a beacon atop of it that calls out to all those crazy "people of Walmart" to go there. We have more than our share of these people. We may have 2-3 lanes open. All the serve yourself checkouts are open. Those checkouts are backed up because no one wants to wait in the couple other services lanes actually open. Many of the staff are rude or cranky. Who could blame them? Working in those conditions. Enjoy your good Walmart because they're not all that way. We quit going except when we feel we have no choice....maybe once every couple months.
