First of all, they are more expensive than other trash pickup services. Every single week they skipped my trash pickup but picked up all my neighbors trash cans which had a lot more than I ever had. They also put one trash can into another which makes the trash can heavier because I can't separate them. I broke the handles trying to do it. This is by far the worst trash company I've dealt with. I called after they missed my scheduled pickup and even removed some of the weight to make it easier for them to return. They promised to come back--they never did. I've submitted multiple requests for yard waste and additional trash pickup, and they've been completely ignored. No response, no follow-up--nothing. To make matters worse, I have video evidence of the driver pulling the trash can instead of pushing it, which is not only careless but unsafe. Honestly, I don't know where to start. Truth is, if you live in a rural area, expect horrible trash service from Rumpke and if it snows or a little ice, they'll delay trash pick up, and it's additional week before they pick up. Before they took over Browns sanitation they were really good about dumping our dumpster on time! The last few months , they come when they want to! our dumpster is always full and I have to store bags in our building because i don't want it overflowing in our yard! We have complained, there hasn't been any progress made. No money takin off our bill, or a month free... just anything to make up for it! We went 3 weeks without trash service but geuss what OUR BILL WAS PAYED! What we pay to have their service is not worth it due to neglect to pick up! We have had Rumpke service for years.We moved to the Chillicothe area and service is not good. In the last 2 months our weekly trash pickup has only occurred 3 times. The customer service reads off that it is because of weather. We are not on an snow emergency levels. We had cyclone until Rumpke bought them out. Since rumpke bought them out our prices went up. They broke our trash can. Asked for a new one they told us it would be 5 weeks before we could get a new one. Canceled our service because we can't wait that long. They asked us to put the cans by the road so they could pick them up and process our refund. It's been over a month of the trash cans sitting by the road and they won't pick them up or process our refund. My trash pick up day is Monday. Trash went put on Sunday night on the curb exactly where it always is placed everyone on my street was emptied but me. We were sent a post card stating that our trash collection would move from Republic to Rumpke. Leave our trash cans out at our last collection 3.28 and our new cans delivered by 4.1... Republic collected our receptacles on 3.28. Today 4.1 our entire block received their cans and we did not! Apparently we were not in the system??? I had an issue where my marked yard waste can was denied pickup. It had 3 potted planet worth of organic material in about 1/4 of the yard waste can. They denied taking it. I was not happy because Rumpke and Powell website say organic material is acceptable waste. But it was dirt, not organic material, they refused to take it. Jason, if the city of Powell reached out to solve the issue and have a Rumpke rep pick up the dirt. I stressed that is a small amount of dirt is not allowed, then the website for Rumpke needs to clearly state that. He agreed changes should be made. Rumpke trash pickup is very unprofessional. Every week I set my bin out nicely and every week I come home it's sitting in the ditch upside-down after knocking down my reflector for the driveway. If I could leave a half star, I would. I've been a customer for decades, had commercial accts, multiple addresses and had good service. Moved to current address and service on this route is atrocious, simply pathetic! In 3yrs, I've had to call 6 times because of the pathetic collection on a simple single residence. Spoke to the neighbors, they all agree and dealt with it for years. The cans are often thrown in front of my neighbors driveway 60 ft a way, if they do collect it(6 times they have not) wish I had a job that I could consistently fail at with ZERO repercussion. I initially contacted you November 15, 2019 a about one of your crews that serviced my house and broke the lid to my 96 gallon Toter trash can. Your generic, unsigned response, said you were not responsible for damage beyond the curb line and you referred my complaint to the operations supervisor. First, I was never contacted by anyone else from Rumple, let alone a supervisor. Second, the damage was not caused beyond the curb-line. It was caused while your employees emptied the trash from MY container, damaging one of the hinges to the lid causing only one hinge to hold the lid. There was no prior damage to the trash container prior to your employees coming into contact with it. Once they emptied the container, the trash container was left in the street, not back on my property, as is what is done with all containers in my development. To reiterate, your employees broke my trash container. A generic response telling me that your employees breaking my property is not your responsibility is unacceptable. EDIT: I was finally contacted by a supervisor, Kenneth. The conversation went so much better than I had anticipated it would. My complaint was resolved in a satisfactory manner. Contacted them and set up myself as the responsible party for garbage bills for a residential rental property I recently purchased. Didn't hear from them until they called me about my "overdue" bill -- one of which I'd never received, as they had been sending the bills to the service address, rather than to me (the property is in Cincinnati Ohio; I am in California). I corrected the error and volunteered to pay the bill over the phone with a credit card -- for which they wanted to charge me extra. Seriously? For your mistake? Went online a few days later to find an address to send them a check -- no address found. I came home to see all my neighbors blue bins where in the street and went to grab my recycling. Got it to the sidewalk and stopped to see that all my neighbors bins had already been emptied. I had missed the recycling truck. I abandoned the bin on the sidewalk and went in to answer the phone. Half hour later I see a Rumpke truck heading for my alley and I though %#*! I could have had it set out for pick up on the second go round. We used Rumpke for 9 years. The trash haulers did an outstanding job; however, they had A LOT of turnover. We would always have 1-2 new guys on the route. Some were better than others over the years. They do not offer recycling in Geauga County. When we went to close our account as we moved, it took WEEKS of phone calls a District Manager had to get involved to get their trash can returned to them. If the trash can is not returned, you are on the hook for $100 per can. Because of the horrible ending to the service, I WOULD NOT RECOMMEND THEM. read more

Well, not much has changed with Rumpke (that I'm aware of). But, in case I did not mention this before- I have been the subject of threatening behavior from two of Rumpke's management personnel as a result of my customer service queries. This happened some time in the past, but I feel that the public needs to know what sort of managers they have working for Rumpke. I don't make those queries anymore, because it became clear that many at Rumpke are not interested in customer service or even behaving like decent humans. Also, the garbage bros made their position pretty clear. Rumpke has told me that they will not replace another trash can, even though they physically broke the last one. (I am disabled, idiots- it wasn't me hucking it back and forth by the handle while it was full) Oh, I mention this because they just broke another one. I'm not sure what this combative mentality is that they seem to have against customers. Honestly, if you broke the trash can handle (or any part really) and I, as a disabled person need that to easily manipulate it- you should simply replace it with no questions asked. It is your fault. Cause and effect. Need I say more? This doesn't take a rocket scientist. As always, if you have other options in waste management besides Rumpke- I must ask that you consider those first. This is based on my actual experience- no bias involved. Two stars, not one because it cannot be denied that they take out the trash. Terrible company. They last emptied our dumpster September 17th, 2021. Then missed it on October 1st. I called/emailed three times that week. Several times the next week, every day last week. Spoke to them Monday, October 25, 2021, They said it would be picked up by the end of the day. Got home from work today, October 26, 2021, and the dumpster was still not picked up. Terrible company, useless customer service. Would not recommend for anything. Go with someone else or drive the trash to the dump yourself. More likely to get it done that way. read more

Our family of 5 is still waiting for our trash to be picked up. I called twice yesterday and was told in the second conversation that it would be picked up within 24 hours of my first call. Ok no problem. After 26 hours I called again and had the misfortune to get Kaitlyn who was very uncaring and rude. This is not the first time that my trash was not picked up just the first time that I have made an issue of it. Rumpke please train your employees in customer service and that they determine how the customer feels about the experience. Disappointed but unfortunately not surprised. From 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. these people drive up and down our street, and all around the neighborhood picking up trash. Have to listen to these loud trucks, and smell their poisonous exhaust they spew out as they stop and go, stop and go for hours on end. All day to pick up a few square blocks of trash? Really? I see them drive up and down our road at least 20 times on trash day. Seems like a purposeful waste to me. Time to hire someone to work on route optimization. Plus, the guys upstairs have figured they can now reduce overhead so they can stuff their pockets more by doing away with humans and replacing them with a robotic arm to dump the trash into the truck. - ya that's great, except the driver can't wait till the trash bin is lowered completely before speeding off to go around the block (yet again), hurling half the trash cans into the yards, along with trash that didn't make it into the compressor...causing it to go all over the street. I'd go minus range if I could. The service is horrible. Every two to three weeks, trash and/or recyclables are not picked up. When you call the company, they say they'll put a "do not miss" note on the account. Doesn't help. Or pick-up in 24-48 hours. Usually doesn't happen. Unfortunately, Rumpke has a monopoly out here in the rural parts of Fayette Co., so we're stuck with them - else they wouldn't see us for dust.... This is the worst pick up service ever. It started out that they couldn't decide where we should put our containers since we are on a corner lot. Every week I had to call to have them come back because they didn't pick up. Every week I was told a different answer by a different person and still I had to call. This went on for 4 months. After learning I was paying three times the amount my neighbor does for excellent service, I called and cancelled. A month later, I get a bill from Rumpke for service. I emailed this time and received a response that we didn't turn in our container and that is what the bill was for. We never used or asked for a container. Nor did we get one! I talked to Rumpke about getting a dumpster on my property in Mt sterling ky they said it would be no problem. Just pay and they would have it out the next week. Next week came and no dumpster. I called she explained they couldn't put a dumpster on my property because f an electric line. And couldn't put it in the front yard because of a water meter. I said ok I'll go another route. She said I'd get my payment refunded . That was a month ago still haven't received anything. Called today a lady advised me I would only be getting $75 of the $175 I prepaid a month ago. I don't have any problems with the actual service itself. They take almost everything and rarely miss. I do have a big problem with their pricing and with their ethics. They are not competitive with others offering the same services. I finally switched after their pricing (and the BS fuel surcharge) got to be about $20 more per month than their competitor. I was paid through the end of the year, and did not pay for the January to March payment, so I assumed my contract was over. I also did not put my trash out. They still hit me with a bill and refused to cancel it when I called them at the end of January when I got another bill. so they ripped me off for another $35 and earned themselves bad reviews and bad word of mouth. This past year their drivers have thrown my trash cans halfway into my yards and Rumpke does not pick up all my trash, which is against their slogan, which makes it false advertising. We cancelled our contract. They state on their website that they will pick up there dumpster in within 10 days. Today is the 11th day and they still haven't picked it up. I'm tired of giving them free advertising so I moved it away from the curb and told them where they can pick it up. They took over about 4-5 months ago or so and have missed my trash 7 times!! I called every time and was told they would send someone out by end of day or the next. By the third time I was told it was being sent to management with priority and they would be in contact with me. Well their management must be just like the trash collectors or traffic because I am still waiting! This company is the worst! Very poorly operated. We live at 425 Dayton Towers Drive, on a daily basis we are woke up at 4:30am to the trash truck slamming the trash compactor mobile unit for 10-15 minutes, and then two more trucks proceed to arrive to load two rollaway units that take another 15minutes each to load while its siren flares and screams at the 80 or more people sleeping in the building above. The closest unit to the trashcan is nearly 20 feet away I can only imagine what that poor soul hast to sit through every fucking morning .... I find it hard to believe that It's not within acceptable expectations to ask for this to happen after fucking 8 AM. read more
