Where to begin? First, their communication is terrible because you'll talk to someone and the next call or text goes to someone else. I called and setup a time - I called back and the guy said I didn't have a move scheduled (got a text confirming I didn't have anything scheduled). Then people showed up at my house (I wasn't ready). The company blamed me even after I showed them the text and the call where the guy said I didn't have an appt. Move time comes - the guys are aloof and unhelpful. They didn't ask if I was okay leaving the doors open (they propped them up immediately). So then I had to find my cat. They used the front and back (while they were only two people) and messed up the door frame to the back - with nails sticking out that could've easily poked my kids (I'll come back to this). That's bad enough but professionals would have at least mentioned what they did (not try to avoid it). Professionals would say, "We screwed up - how can we help". I know this because I hired professionals after this company failed so miserably and they did something considerably minor and immediately were like, "We're sorry - that was our mistake." And that was it - taking simple accountability was all that was needed and I could not have cared less (although as professionals, they didn't screw up nearly as badly as College Movers). Back to College "Movers". They damaged furniture. They poorly packed and took very little of what I asked them to take and then they stopped before the time agreed upon and had the unmitigated gall to ask me if I would be tipping them. When the crew that came after these guys saw how they literally had thrown my things in a 10x20 storage unit and taken up a ton of space with not that much - they laughed (because these guys are laughably pathetic). Even sadder? I'm in no way a professional; the movers told me they had no way to understand how to take apart a bunk bed. I did it in the 20 minutes after they left (by myself). They are, simply, lazy. And that's fine - be lazy (but don't be movers). The worst part is that for each issue raised, their company took absolutely no responsibility. Texts indicating I had no appt? I must've confused their system (and ignore the fact that I could name who I talked to, when I called and for how long). Pictures showing the damage they did (but had not happened in the 4 years I previously lived in the home or from the movers I hired AFTER them because they were so bad) - must've been poor craftsmanship of the house, furniture, or magic. At no point was someone able to say, "You know, we could've done better." It has been (repeatedly), "Well, actually ..." If you want college movers in the vein of frat guys who are bad at their job, uninterested in professionalism, and adding to the litany of why moving sucks - these are completely your people. If you'd like a good company, go with "Moving You Forward" out of Terre Haute or "A Better Way" or literally any two people off the street. read more

I used them recently for a two part move. Everything went quick and smooth during both phases of the move. The employees were very cooperative and pleasant. There was some damage to some of the furniture. Some obvious scratches, nicks and dents that we're not there before. Bummer. I am not entirely clear what their policy is on that. So I'm going to have to check. I will still give them four stars regardless, based on the price, speed and ease of the move. I would recommend them, but I would throw caution to anyone who uses their service as far as certain more valuable items being treated more delicately. read more

I wanted to leave a good review. I really did. But my experience wasn't great. My move was at the end of the day. So the "boss" was in a hurry. Sparing other details, they left a dining room table and chairs even though they were clearly marked and I had addressed them in the walkthrough. There were lesser offenses. Expect DAMAGE. They were inexperienced, unequipped movers. Sure, their quote was appealing. But you'll get less than what you pay for. Lots of my furniture had serious damage and had to be thrown out. Total cost of move, including damages, was 5x my quoted amount. They denied all accountability. Guys didn't even bring a dolly or doorstoppers. They had to call their coworkers to bring a dolly, which took an hour. I called and emailed them ahead of the move mentioning they'd have to go through multiple heavy doors in my apt. complex. How does a professional moving company not bring doorstoppers?! The movers said no one mentioned anything to them. (Movers themselves were super nice, just inexperienced.) They might be find if you're just having junk removed that you don't care about. read more

Super pleased with our experience with College Movers/Junk Hauling. We had junk at our house that needed to go to the recycling center and the dump. These guys moved my family over the summer, and we were super impressed by their speed, and care when moving our belongings. It was one of the hottest days of the summer, and my husband and I had to force them to take water breaks! The only reason I'm not giving 5 stars is because they took a few liberties when charging us - super small (we had two trucks, one didn't arrive until nearly quarter after the hour, and the second didn't arrive until about 10 minutes later, and they charged us with one of the trucks starting on time, and same when we got to our new residence,the second truck was nearly 30 minutes behind the first [though they both left at the same time]). I didn't even bring up when we were being charged because they did such a quick, efficient job. read more

I would give a 4.5 but it's not an option. We moved on a Friday/Saturday from Nashville, TN to Bloomington, IN. We worked with 2 different crews. The crew that came Friday was efficient and careful with all of our things. They packed everything nicely and securely. Everything arrived without damage. They got it done in about an hour! The Saturday crew was a little slower, however nothing was damaged and they graciously put furniture and all of our other belongings exactly where we wanted them. I would recommend them for the price, but have patience for some inexperienced crew members. Overall it was a good experience. read more

When I spoke with Bradon he said his rate was $110 an hour starting from the office. He NEVER said anything about MILEAGE! It took over 3 hours for his movers who only had to move 5 pieces of furniture only 30 minutes away! They deliberately took a longer route even though they were asked to go the correct way they took longer. The amount was outrageous and when the young mom had less he made his guys wait there til she got more $ out of the bank then he charged her ANOTHER HOUR! I DO NOT KNOW HOW HE CAN SLEEP AT NIGHT! Very disappointed and unpleasant with the whole experience. College Movers & Junk Hauling is unorganized & not following the contacct of the reservation they promised. First, they never called and showed up early then schedule without notice then charged me for that. The confirmation email says some one will call between 12-1pm to notify when the movers are on the way. They charged me from 11:30am- which I didn't ask them to show up early. They stopped at 2:10pm and charged me to 2:45pm. i had to pay for the entire hour for their travel time from their office at N. Walnut st. to downtown Kirkwood Ave. I asked for 3 movers and they sent 2 movers. One is brand new. The other spent almost first hour from 12pm to12:45pm to show him how to move stuff. They both didn't do anything for 45 minutes since they got there.. Why should customers have to pay for their time when they did nothing but to figure out how to move stuff? Because who will be stupid enough to pay hourly rate? But the owner charged me for that training time. Not to mention the way they move the stuff- but the worst thing is the owner's attitude towards making things right. He needs to learn how to admit his mistakes instead of arguing with customers. He certainly looks more like a junk hauler instead of a decent mover. I would never use them again. read more

If I could give zero stars, I would. I had a move booked with them 10 days ago and I got the automated verification via text two days before. They were an hour late, they never called, EVER, and worse, the guy in the office had the audacity to be annoyed that I was irritated... 60 minutes past appointment time and unable to tell me when anyone was coming. Just that they can see that in fact someone should have been here. He started speaking condescendingly to me I can only guess because i'm female, I doubt very much he would have spoken to my husband that way.. so at the end of the phone call I let him know how I felt about him. He gaslit me by telling me he canceled the move because of our exchange, my argument to him and what I will maintain till the last breath in my body is, they were NEVER coming which is why NO ONEcalled, and why after an hour past the appointment time no one was even close to my house. He canceled it because he knew no one was ever coming, and then he gaslit me to try to make me feel bad for a job they promised to do and didn't do. I asked a couple of friends of mine to recommend a different company because I had to get someone last minute, and was able to secure last minute a reputable moving company that not only charged $50 less an hour, but called me 15 minutes before my appointment time to let me know they were on their way. Apparently this was too much to ask of college movers. They're extremely lucky I'm not feeling litigious.. and that I was able to secure better movers, but I hope that they know that anyone that ever asks me for a reference for movers, I will make sure that they know to use the movers that actually worked for me,and I will make sure that they know the name of the company that did not. I had College Movers remove some furniture from my Bloomington apartment on the day I had to move out. I got the quote through Yelp and got a response almost immediately. Mitch and Tim arrived on time and worked carefully not to damage anything in the apartment. They separated the furniture that could be donated from what would need to be taken to the dump. They also helped me load an item into my car. I was happy with the quoted price because the minimum was low and the job only took an hour. They do charge for the drive time but if you are in Bloomington it's minimal. read more

At no fault of the movers themselves, they showed up an hour late and management (not the two movers themselves) didn't call to inform me until 15 minutes after they were supposed to arrive. After the movers completed moving, they called their manager at my request so I could discuss a fair discount since they were late and didn't inform us they'd be late until after their scheduled time of arrival. The manager said had they been two hours late, he'd have discounted the amount due, but since they were an hour late, he wouldn't discount it at all. Complete BS! I tipped the two movers because they were awesome, but the management really sucks. My preference is not to engage a company that is unable to arrive at the agreed time. read more

I got a help loading my belongings to a truck about 2 weeks ago. Writing review after got settled in a new place. Efficient workers BUT 1. Charged 30 minutes of travel time, which was never mentioned when getting a quote. 2. Arrived late, had to pause the loading because they had to move their truck. I can't say enough good things about these guys! I just moved to Bloomington from Southern California and had my things shipped in a semi trailer. The company dropping the trailer off would only give me a 4 hour arrival window and also the trailer had to be unloaded in 1 hour or I would be charged an additional fee. I was really worried I wouldn't find movers willing to accommodate that schedule. When I called College Movers and spoke with Braden he went out of his way to work with me and assured me that he and his guys would be able to make that happen. Boy did they ever! Braden, Nick and another guy all showed up on time and had that trailer unloaded in 45 minutes! They also helped me assemble some new furnature pieces that I had previously purchased and then they even haluled away all the boxes for me. We moved from a 3000 sq ft home to a 1200 sq ft rental while we build our house; needless to say we were a bit anxious about the downsize and how everything was going to fit. I needed a very heavy king-sized pillow mattress (around 200 pounds) moved from my downstairs to my upstairs, and couldn't manage the task by myself, so I poked around the internet and called a few places. College Movers seemed the most professional, friendly and reasonably priced over the phone, so I set up an appointment, and two young, strong gentlemen showed up right on time. Scott and Mitch went above and beyond the call of duty to move not only the huge mattress, but the entire king-size bed to the room that I wanted it relocated to. They were very friendly, communicative, professional, and caused no damage whatsoever maneuvering everything through my home's maze.
