We ordered the shrimp stuffed avocado with a mango dressing for an appetizer and I could have licked the plate. Two of us had the fish and two had the steak for our main course and they were both amazing. The presentation was very nice and the flavor combo was just what we wanted. The restaurant itself appears to be inspired by a French bistro look so although the food looks very upscale, the decor is more homey and inviting. We sat inside and would have preferred to be on the terrace as it did not have any air conditioning like so many German buildings, and was a bit warm on a summer evening. I recommend trying to request a spot outside if you can. The wine was good, we ordered a bottle of rose', but they were all priced at €20 and above which is very expensive considering you can buy a good bottle in the store for about €5. I guess you're paying for the experience though. The service was friendly and although our food took a while to come out, I expect it's because it was freshly prepared and I'm always ok with that. After appetizers, dinner, a bottle of wine, and two bottles of water, our total was around €140 for four people which I thought was very reasonable. I would go back in a heartbeat and highly recommend this restaurant for a date night, or friends dinner!

This is most definitely the top 3 Michelin restaurants I've been to in my life. I wanted to try a…read moreMichelin place in Austria and I was between this one and the Glass House. This one seemed to have more open reservations available so I booked this but actually came a day early in which they were nice enough to still let me get a table. Me and my boyfriend ordered the 5 course meal and we were a bit worried it was not going to be enough food because I feel like usually at these sort of restaurants, the portion sizes are not very big. However, we were VERY wrong. We were extremely stuffed by the end, it was like every course was its own entree. Here were some of the more memorable courses: - Gooseliver, Quail, Grape - I can't claim that I've ever had gooseliver before but this was genuinely one of the best things I've had in my life. I was so in love with the creaminess of the gooseliver, the umami flavor was so evident. - Complimentary Bread - They gave us 3 different types of bread: whole wheat, white, and maybe rye. I thought the bread itself was okay, a bit on the tougher side and I wish the outsides of the bread was a bit crispier. - Trout, Chestnut, Red Cabbage, Crustacean Powder - I think its so funny how the menu is essentially just an ingredient list but I guess in a way it is ingredients on the plate. Everything here was absolutely phenomenal especially the tuna as it literally melted in your mouth upon taste. However, what really blew me away was the crispiness and perfect sour taste of the cabbage. I don't think I've ever had cabbage as good as this. - Tuna, Pumpkin, Cabbage, Bacon - This was another banger. I definitely do not eat this every day, but this tasted like "home" or a big hug. The tuna was again, so incredibly delicious and melted in your mouth; I genuinely don't know how they do fish that good here. The bacon was so on point, it was like a flavor concentrate of it. This dish actually made me so full and after this I felt like I didn't need to eat the rest of the meal. - Cheese Plate - I surprised myself by ordering a cheese plate which I usually do not because I have a humongous sweet tooth and I don't love all cheese. The waiter asked me were there cheeses that I don't eat and I wanted to be a bit adventurous and said I could eat any of the cheeses. When the plate came over, I was a bit nervous as there was some blue cheese and goat cheese in there but each of the selection was genuinely so decadent and amazing. The flavor concentrate of each was something else and each was so distinct from the other not only in terms of taste but also texture. It was a dining experience in the plate itself. Wow, I actually couldn't finish it because I was too full from everything else but this was so amazing! I cannot rave about Esszimmer enough. Here are some tips/good to know: - If you order the coursed menu from here, they give you like 3 extra courses which is insane. - The 5 course meal is honestly enough as each dish is its own meal in itself. - I cannot rave more about the seafood and cheese here. The ingredients they use are actually so amazing and it really shines. - The waiters are all so nice and so happy to chat with you. I wish I was rich enough to eat Esszimmer every day or maybe then I would be too spoiled. I think this is the best restaurant I've had in 2025 hands down.

What a weird experience…read more.. Christmas Eve, so made a reservation knowing that demand would be a challenge. Seated in the back, which has four tables total...and none of the festive music playing in the front area. Seating has character - clean and functional with eclectic pillows, but not refined, chic, or otherwise what I may expect from a French restaurant. Got it, it's a bistro. Special holiday menu was on the chalkboard. We ordered drinks, which came in a reasonably timely manner. One server seemed to be managing the entire place, so we expected no expedience. The appetizers took a while: two different soups, one with tasty foie gras. My teenage son decided the mushroom soup was the best food ever!! Score. Pumpkin soup was good, not overly rich. Next up would be the main course. Um. I think. We waited, and waited... I think they also had one chef who was overwhelmed, and we waited at least another hour before entrees arrived, 2 hours after our reservation time. I'm all for a leisurely dinner, but this was painful, especially after we ran out of wine. Two of my crew had the Rindfleisch (steak), which was melt-in-your-mouth tender and served with a somewhat salty but flavorful sauce. The mushroom soup fan also greatly enjoyed his goose. My turkey turrine (kind of a pot pie) took an extra 10 mins or so, and was... well, acceptable. Not bad but let's just say that the value wasn't there - expensive for a simple comfort food. Side dishes: The rotkohl was good (not too sweet), potatoes tasty, and noodles present. Didn't stay for dessert as my companions were all full and I didn't want to be there until 2am. End notes: - holiday may have been an anomaly, and they seemed to be short staffed - Menu was decidedly Austrian (not French) and we heard Slavic languages spoken too. Don't go here expecting French food, though the sauces leaned toward French style. - go only if you're not in any hurry whatsoever. I would give it another try if in Salzburg, as the family loved the food and I was the only one disappointed.
