Searched the internet for somewhere local to recycle used vehicle and ​garden tractor batteries. Numerous articles​ stating Rural King gave in-store credit or​ gift cards. CALLED our local Rural King in Elyria to verify that they still did perform this service. While on the phone I specifically asked if they had a limit as we had about 7 or 8 batteries to recycle. The young man said no, no limits. Loaded up our batteries, drove 20 miles to the store where I called, unloaded the batteries, went to the customer service desk where we were promptly told that Rural King no longer recycles batteries. Wasted over an hour of our time plus gas for our vehicle. I would think all the employees should know the policies of the store where they work. Aggravated and disappointed with Rural King today. Just a heads up as I have nothing against Rural King but this really ticked me off. Went on their website to try and order an Insulated Cooler. I started to notice how they had GREAT PRICING on some coolers and not on others. Question: Want to know what the difference was ??? Answer: The super priced items were all OUT - OF - STOCK !!! Examples . . . . Lincoln Outfitters 20 Qt. Cooler that normally runs about 70 or 80 bucks, was now listed as $29.91 Well that's great, but they're out of stock in every color. Next . . . . . Igloo Latitude 30 Qt. Cooler #50332 was super priced at ONLY $14.91 *** But TOO BAD those were "Out of Stock" too. But hey good news, the smaller version in 16 Qt. size (half the size) was in stock for $39.99 They seems to have plenty of those available. Next up . . . . . Igloo Latitude 52 Qt. Cooler #50338 had a Great Price of only $19.91 Awwww too bad, this one's "Out of Stock" too. But again, good news if you wanted the slightly larger 54 Qt. version, but that one costs $59.99 It reminds me of the Black Friday bull-ch1t when they advertise a great price to get you in the store, but then they only ever had one unit in the place. I'll still shop at Rural King because they usually have what I need, but hope someone sees this post and cleans up their act for on-line shopping. That's the only reason I'm giving them only 2 stars. 9/23/23 Rural King Elyria Ohio I walked into the store with my sons wedding gift, it was a wall mounted black iron sign. I wanted it to be free standing so it could be displayed at the wedding reception. Richard and the store manager were very helpful pleasant and went out of their way to help me. I wish I could post a picture it was truly beautiful. They cared and did everything they could to make me happy about this wedding gift. Awesome deals The store is a little dirty and disorganized but you get great deals. Kids love going bc you get free popcorn when you walk in and they always have animals like bunnies and chickens to see. You never know what your are going to find there. read more

I like Rural King and the all the different things you can find. The prices are better than there competitor (TSC) for most of the items I frequent them for. The bad: they seriously need to organize. The store is often in so cluttered you can't move and the placement random. They have lost many sales to me because I can't find a price. It wouldn't take much to clean things up and add a price tag. I know a few people who won't shop here because of this issue. read more

This is my new favorite joint. It appears to be in direct competition with Tractor Supply Company. The difference is that this place doesn't waste money on making the place look all frilly. It is a bare bones kind of place with really decent prices and better selction of most item than TSC. In fact they carry a lot more than what TSC carries. I will be back without hesitation whenever I need more pellets for me cooker, hunting, fishing or pet needs. read more

Rural King has everything that you could possibly need for country living and some! From pet supplies, garden necessities, including vegetable & flower plants, tools, (ALL variety and sizes), cleaning products, paper products, garden & house decorations, car batteries & other car supplies, fishing gear, swimming pool supplies, clothing department and even a nice food section that has country style pantry goods that are awesome! They even sell chicks and rabbits!! It's a must visit country store! Management and employees are always so welcoming and helpful!! Going here is an adventure in itself, the pros is that they allow dogs and you will see several of them on your visit. The most interesting is the lady who walks though the store with her dog on her shoulder like a parrot. They have lots of pet products including high end dog and cat food. It's a crazy store with odds and ends. Camo gear and baby chicks. We always end up buying some weird snacks- maple coated peanuts. The cons is the store is dirty and no rhyme or reason to how things are organized. read more

Great place to buy motor oil, usually cheaper than most car part stores. You can't beat the price of car batteries too (the only thing is you must install it yourself). The complementary popcorn is nice while shopping! read more

So whatever you are looking for Rural King has or will order for you. I go for three things guns, canning supplies, and tools. My first experience there my garden had put out a ton of cucumbers and tomatoes. I wondered through the aisles looking at all the supplies. In walks Bill asking his standard question, "Are you finding everything all right?" I said yes and Bill moved on. On his second pass Bill approached me and said, "Looks like you need help". I agreed he showed me what I needed to start canning including pre mixed packets that were great recipes for spicy, dill, and sweet pickles. What I like about the firearms department is that it's a not a pressure sale. Everyone there has an interest in the sport and will sell you anything. But they will suggest the best for you. Sometimes it's more than what you want to spend and sometimes it's less. What I do know is after I've done my research and the reason for the suggestions make sense. The tools are great price. I use them for work. If I lose the tools I wouldn't be upset. Quality is good price is right. read more

If you buy in store they may be ok. Ordered two coolers on Dec 17. Advised may not have by Christmas. I was fun with that .On December 18 for notice they shipped. Kept checking tracking and nothing. Called on the 27rh and was o. hold for over 1 hr.I spoke with a lady who told me they would go out and would receive tracking#. Mind you they told me that by email four days earlier.Today,January 1 still no tracking or product. Email them today and they say they are short handed and would be up to 10 days.Horrible service!!!!!!!! Would give zero but can't. read more

At Elyria Rural King Our cashier first of all was wearing her mask below her chin. The customer ahead of us left with out completing his order so our cashier proceeded to ring our items with his. We tried to explain but she would have none of it. Then she told us to go to Register 1 to get it fixed. The cashier at that register said we would have to get in line again - behind 10 other people. These are hard times but no excuse for just lack of caring. Been coming here for years but RKO lost a customer today. read more

They have everything we needed, and decent prices. They seem to have very unhappy employees all the time every time no matter who you work with. Ok first let me start that I love rual King. This store is just in need of help. The staff aren't the friendliest or knowledgeable of much to do with ag. The place is dirty which isn't that big of a deal to me. The ammo limit really bites but I get most ammo from my work so not to big a deal. But for the love of baby Jesus do not I say again NEVER go into the men's restroom. It is disgusting. I served over seas in the army and the Iraqis could keep a better restroom I think so when I say it's bad it's bad. Store could be top notch if not for the staff read more
