We decided to go here for breakfast because we were told that their donuts are really good and they are. I also liked the chocolate croissant. I've had a New York style everything bagel with cream cheese. It was OK I'm not really being a fresh bagel, but it was made on the island. The hot chocolate was outrageously good. Quaint little Coffee/breakfast/lunch/ gift shop. We stopped by after an early morning appointment. Needed a bite to eat before traveling back home. Research for breakfast in Caribou brought us to Ruska Coffee. We had a regular waffle with syrup. That was delicious. Other plate was a big breakfast with eggs, toast, hash browns (potatoes) and toast. Coffee was very good as well. It was very busy for a bit while we were there. Yet, it seemed to run smoothly. I came from over 1,000 miles away to try this food and to personally experience the vibes but I'll have to be honest folks, it's unfortunately so overhyped. The drinks are fun, the food is good and the atmosphere is definitely there but what lacks is the consistency & it's underwhelming welcoming attitude. Coming from a larger area to small town cozy corner it saddens me to experience this after hearing how much it's loved locally, as well as to find that it's not a true cafe experience, rather a Northern Maine tourist destination. So many things to buy that aren't food that it actually gets in the way of the customer experience. It was even retold to me, someone else having the staff to politely ask them to sit in a separate section because of these items being so close in proximity to window seating... Here are my examples: - never hear a "hi how are you" when ordering, I just walk up and stand in silence most times till the cashier asks me 'what I want' - I get better staff interactions from the barista boys than most others and they just say "have a nice day" - I've only ever gone maybe 4hrs or less before close and each time there is a lack of consistency in both cashier and kitchen staff - 2 times now my lotus drinks were very poorly measured, I mostly got water down energy drink even when I asked for less ice - Again 2 times now my breakfast sandwich orders were incorrect , once without my cheese preference - Unfortunately as I said above this "coffee shop" has so many things to buy in every corner, ceiling to floor of just stuff. Some related to coffee, others not at all My take away, the staff if more focused on what kind of "experience" they give the costumers rather than making it as cozy as they (maybe) initially set out to be. As I said before the food is fine, drinks could be better for me but I'm hurt by how undervalued I felt in just very basic/niche interactions. read more

Hi Friends, The pup and I boogied upta Presque Isle earlier today, and since we were closer to Caribou than to the business district of PI, we ventured that wee bit west to stop at Ruska Coffee Now, it being lunch time and since I had a long enough drive home, I went with a lunch sammich rather than a coffee and pastry (though the coffee selections and the pastries all looked AWESOME). I got us a Ruska Reuben, which was quite tasty and the room itself looks incredible The good-- prices are fair, the staff is incredibly friendly. The room feels very homey (though I got my lunch to go, since Bob was in the Scooby Doo). The food arrived quickly. The staff was knowledgeable; as I heard them intelligently answer questions other patrons asked as I waited for the sandwich The not nearly as good -- the corned beef was cut too thick to be easily chewed, while also not being thick enough to be NY deli style hand carved. Portion could've been bigger, I'd of taken an extra bit of meat to not get the free side. The cold beverage selections could've been more diverse Would I recommend Ruska? Absolutely Would I get food from there again? Definitely Is it worth the trip? This is tricky, I don't think I'd drive there if I were in Houlton; but I'd come over from PI and would most likely plan on making my lunch stop there if I were coming back towards Caribou from deeper into the County See y'all at the crossroads read more

My favorite place to go for food! Me and my boyfriend come here for lunch every once in a while, it's become our special spot! The food and drinks are amazing, you can tell that everything is made by hand! The service is very pleasant, always service with a smile! I have loved this coffee shop and the awesome, hardworking owners. The coffee and food is very good. It has a great vibe, serving all ages. The service has been excellent, HOWEVER, the barista service has slowed to a snails pace, over last month or 2. If there's a line I leave. There is random chatting with other counter person, forgetting order, doing dishes, walking around, all while customers are waiting. Almost oblivious to customer consideration. We found this coffee shop to be welcoming, clean and the food was homemade and just what the doctor ordered. Breakfast is the best meal of the day! I am a Starbucks fan. But this place was recommended by our family members. So we make it a point to give a try. OMG!!! Love the ambience. They have outside sitting areas and inside. An amazing coffee shop that makes you feel right at home. Great variations of food, for either breakfast or lunch. You have coffee, tea, and other kinds of drinks too. I love the variety there. The seating area is very comfy and quaint. Again, the staff is amazing. If you order in, they bring the food right to you. They also have outdoor seating, which is real nice too. I love Ruska so much, they make a great iced latte and an even better frappe. We love getting an espresso shot in our frappes. We can't afford to get coffee out all of the time so it's a really nice treat to come here. If you have it, it's well worth the money to go here often if not every day. Whenever my fiancé and I go in we're greeted happily. I'm bad with names, but each and every person that's helped us has had exceptional service. So they have top notch service and top notch coffee, what's more to love! Well there is actually more to love because they have a lot of really nice extras you can pick up when you're in there. That's including, sweet treats, candles, journals, shirts, house beans, etc. and it all goes with their nice coffee shop decor. The candles something I can't wait to nab next time we go. I've gotten a tshirt and sweater here and love them both. They both have washed and dried well too. Ruska is definitely a great place to go, and despite me never staying in there to drink my coffee, it's a very cozy place with beautiful decor and comfort that you can realize just waiting for your coffee. read more
