We read all the reviews prior to visiting Russell's in Broken Bow and I have to say, they are dead on. Russell has an immense knowledge of appliances and an amazing (although somewhat dark) sense of humor. It was nice to have a salesperson that tells you the truth. We were looking for Black Stainless or Slate appliances. Russell asked us one question that probably saved us a ton of headaches. He asked how the search was going, when we explained that we couldn't find what we're looking for anywhere he said," and you'll have the same problem when it come to replacing them". I can see how people mistake his directness for rudeness, he just tells you the truth, short, to the point and full stop. After hearing about the issues with certain manufacturers and that we had to "buy what is available" as to order and item may take weeks or even months (exactly what we were told at Nebraska Furniture). We were able to find almost everything we needed at Russell's but not a double drawer French door refrigerator. So he called other stores. Not as in other "Russell's" stores, he actually called competing appliance stores. He just dialed up other stores with his phone on speaker so we could hear the conversation. I expected him to be calling stores around Broken Bow so I was somewhat surprised that he was calling stores as far away as Dallas, Fort Worth, Texarkana and Tyler, but not surprised when everyone he spoke to seemed to genuinely like him and to be genuinely happy to help him. Probably too late to make a long story short but he found the refrigerator we wanted in stock at a store in Rockwall, Texas. The store was North Texas Appliance and they said they'd have it ready for him to pick up Saturday and to make sure that he saw everyone when he came in. It's not too often you find a business that will actually go out of their way to help a customer, but I know he drove at least 5 hours on his day off to help us. We are truly grateful for all Russell/Russell's did for us. The appliances are great, the installation was flawless and the technician that installed our appliances was extremely polite, courteous and professional. When we told him how happy we were he told us to, " write a review then" so I did. I went down the list and the math doesn't add up to 1 star, but still fairly skeptical we gave it a shot. Trying to find a houseful of appliances with Covid-19 was impossible before we found Russell's. He found us a beautiful kitchen for a great price and had everything installed in two weeks. Home Depot was 8 -12 weeks out, Lowe's had NO ETA for appliances, so, I consider ourselves lucky for only having to wait 2 weeks since all the manufacturers are closed. I didn't like having to fill out all the warranty cards but we were told that if we didn't it might be hard to get warranty service as the appliances were coming from dealers from all over the country. plus - Russell was a whoot and a half, he doesn't seam to be cut form the local cloth if you get my meaning. I called to thank him for getting everything for us and he said if we liked the store give a review as it was showing a lot of negativity, so, voila, one positive review. read more

Customer service and beyond! My phone calls were always answered and I did not have to leave a message and wait for a call back. When I went to the store to shop, I found great information about dishwashers, great prices, prompt delivery and follow through. Our Maytag dishwasher was delivered and installed the next day. Shocked! From the outside appearance and the nonchalant and carefree (almost careless) attitude of the proprietor we almost left and purchased locally. We entered this establishment and told the sales person/owner that we already had appliances picked out and they just needed to be ordered, however, they were very expensive brands and were unsure if he could obtain them. He seemed to take that very offensively and asked what the model numbers were. I had the information printed and gave him the page. He looked at the numbers, almost unconcerningly, if it where a word. After about one minute he said that my order would be between eleven thousand and thirteen thousand depending on which options I had picked out. Having been to multiple, much more credible, much higher end stores I politely told him he was in error and that our order was priced over fifteen thousand from multiple reputable stores in Dallas, but thanked him for his time. What happened next gave us pause. This supposed sales person/small business owner actually said,"That's too bad, because you're getting 'expletive' over at home and some of those appliances aren't available." I was curious at this point, how a small town dealer in Broken Bow, Oklahoma (literally nowhere) could know more about my appliance order than the three separate appliance specialist I've dealt with over the last few months. How he could know the cost of all my appliance in his head without consulting his computer or a website for dealers, let alone the manufacturers status of inventory. How he could have a two thousand dollar swing of what the appliances might cost. Mostly, how could this person be this abrasive and sell anything to anyone? When I asked for enlightenment of the aforementioned questions he simply said,"The salesmen you're dealing with are liars, they're on commission and they're over charging you." Without another word said, I looked at my wife, I have a feeling she got it at eh same time. I think we both understood how this store sold appliances. It's not a warm reception or well delivered sales demonstrations. It's not fashionable and well presented displays. It's absolutely, positively NOT curb appeal. It's brutal honesty. It's an honesty that has been long lost in sales. So long indeed, that when received, it is a direct assault to the senses. There's something quite shocking about someone that is supposed to act and react a certain way, appear to be completely off the scales for just being honest. We did get our appliances from this store and were more than surprised by the service, product knowledge and manufacturer relationships. Our local "appliance specialists" had sent emails to customer service for questions about our GE Monogram gas range. How relieved we were when we asked the same question here, immediately given an answer, but then told to wait while the owner called the cell phone of the manufacturer representative to verify his answer........on a Saturday! I learned a lot more about our appliances in the hours we spent here than the weeks of web surfing and sorting out sales pitches. In the end, our order included two items that had been discontinued nearly a year earlier and another item that was back ordered until the end of the next month. We corrected this by shifting to currently available models, that were well within our price range, with features that had been out of our price range elsewhere. Total hit was $13,660.00 before tax and installation. We upgraded to a thirty six inch range top with a griddle, thirty six inch chimney style vent hood and down graded our dishwasher from a $2000 monogram to a $600 Kitchen Aid. Delivery was fast and efficient, almost so that I was wondering how you can justify $400 to install appliances. The machine that made the cabin shake while pulling the refrigerator up the stairs, gave immediate pause to the feeling of unfairness. After a long and arduous night of installing appliances our kitchen was finished, our home was finished and this is the last place we will reside. It may seem like a long way around the rabbit hole for a review, however, I usually only leave a review when an issue arises that could not be solved between myself and an establishment. Only giving 4 stars because of the stores aesthetics. A well organized and polished interior with an exterior sign that was readable would have been nice. I had an applicance that needed service and Russell referred me to an excellent handyman/service technician who was able to diagnose and fix the problem. If I could give a zero rating, I would. Worst customer service I have ever experienced. We had a full unconditional 5 year warranty we purchased extra on a brand new refrigerator from Russell's 2 1/2 years ago and after 6 weeks of dealing with them trying to get it fixed, their solution was to give us our money back on our warranty and we keep the $1,100.00 broken fridge. I was very surprised. Usually you have to go to the city to get this kind of pricing. I had my newspaper ads in hand expecting to have to get them to price match, but they were already less money.
