Preparing to move officially to Orillia (three weeks and counting!), we visited RUSTICA last night for the first time, and I promise I'm sparing all hyperbole when I say this is one of the ten best restaurants I've been to in my life. Have dined here in the summer/fall in the lovely outdoor dining area which is very inviting with plenty of the plants. TLDR: Great restaurant serving delicious food and exceptional service from the ladies running the front of house. We came here on a rainy Wednesday and the place was quite lively (good sign). We chose to sit outside given the pleasant unexpected warm October evening and beautiful outdoor space they have curated. The dining tables are covered from the rain with big umbrellas or a gazebo. First time dining in the rain - quite enjoyable. I did not make reservations but the hostess (believe her name is Jenna) was very helpful in assessing when tables may open and putting me on a waitlist and estimating a 20 minute wait. After a 20 minute stroll around the neighbourhood, I walked back and they sat us down. For two guests, we ordered the Rustica meatballs, Rustica caesar salad and the seafood pasta. This was just the right amount of food. The Rustica meatballs comes with three meatballs covered with melted cheese sitting on a copious amount of chunky tomato sauce and two pieces of toasty baguette. Simple and delicious. The Rustica caesar salad was quite large and very fair for the $14 price tag. If you enjoy garlic, you will really like the pungent garlic in their creamy caesar dressing. The romaine lettuce was fresh and crisp and stood up to the generous amount of dressing used. The pickled onions were a nice touch to cut through the creamy dressing. The seafood pasta uses fresh squid ink linguine. I think the sauce is just olive oil and the juices from the seafood. While I understand the intent is to let the flavour of the seafood shine, I think a light tomato sauce would compliment the seafood and elevate the dish. Our server, Kelsey, was great. Came here today, to Rustica, with a few family members. I ordered the zucchini fritti (pretty good), the Sunshine City pizza (very good) and the warm brownie affogato for dessert (very good as well). Overall, the food was great! We sat outside, unfortunately it was a bit chilly, but there were heaters there. The plants around were a nice touch. Exceptional service and amazing food makes this place a must visit! I came here for dinner on. Saturday night and was promptly greeted. I had made reservations - definitely needed since the place was packed (as packed as can be with covid of course). My boyfriend and I shared an app - scallops and Ceasar salad - both were tasty. As my main, I opted for pizza since they make one of the best gluten free crusts around. I went with a simple pepperoni pie and it certainly didn't disappointment! So flavourful and all around delicious. He went with spaghetti and meatballs and I tried one of the meatballs and it was packed full of flavour. All around, great dining experience. Food is great, but service is really really slow. Only 7 covered tables on the patio for dinner service, but the food took over an hour to come out of the kitchen, including the kids pepperoni pizza and kids spaghetti. Zucchini fritti was decent, scallops were very tasty but small. Scallops were not medallions but maybe a quarter the size. Seafood squid ink pasta was not bad and the Amanda's pizza was probably the best dish we ordered. Unfortunately, the wait was extremely long, even the bill took 20 minutes to get! read more

First actually good food I've had on my month stay in Canada. I got a diavola pizza. The pizza was a real pizza and really good. Olives just a little heavy for my preference but still great. My husband and I went here again for dinner. Really great place. Actually the only good place we know for dinner in Orillia. The food is great, reasonably priced and consistent quality. Good selection on the menu as well. We have some dietary restrictions and they were very accommodating. The service is always exceptional. We were there late tonight (On a Monday) and they didn't rush us to finish. The place is beautiful. Last time we were here, they had just finished a private party. Not sure if they have private bookings regularly, but it'd be a great place for an event. Great patio too. The place is in a somewhat secluded section near king str. West, from the outside looks relatively small. The layout and decor are distinctly French, the staff friendly and helpful, felt relaxed, enjoyed the background French music. Food came quickly, focused on French cuisine and the presentation was lovely. We had the trout ant the sea bass, both were excellent!. Great atmosphere on the outside, could use some work on the inside though... Firstly, the food was just ok. Everything was cooked mostly well, no problems really. But everything lacked flavour. And Neapolitan pizza requires strong flavours, especially when the dough/crust is average at best. We got a Hawaiian and Carbonara pizzas, and despite their palettes being entirely different, they almost tasted pretty much the same. Other Neapolitan pizza joints rectify mediocre taste by having chilli oil and parmigiana readily available at your table. We didn't ask for either item, so it's worth asking if you go. Secondly, the atmosphere on the inside was a bit weird. The outside patio was pretty cute and it's what really attracted us to this location to begin with. But inside... it's all really bland. And not just bland, but a bit out of touch too. What really stood out were the two TVs at the bar that had non stop aquarium footage. This is one of those situations where if you can't get the real thing, it's better not to try at all. There's other odd things as well, like the menus at the table were in really poor condition, we each had different sized glasses of water (not by design), and at the end of the night, two of us were served with an old pot of coffee while the other two were offered a fresh pot of coffee... Honestly, eat elsewhere. Come here after for a bottle of wine and the intimate patio and you'll have a great time. read more

Had a family dinner at Rustica last week. We had a great evening there. The atmosphere was cosy and welcoming with a modern vibe. We dine there on Saturday suffer fro m the eating experience and the service. My spouse got a pizza and it was fine. my food was not tasty at all. I got a tasteless eggplant that I ate some of it and left the most. The waiter was annoying but not helpful. One weird thing- they don't put salt on the table and everything I needed salt I have to look for the waiter to spring some salt on my dish. They don't leave the salt for you to use it if necessary. read more
