Room was cozy but very small. Very noisy, you hear and feel when people walk in the hallway or take shower. The temp outside was in the 80's and the window air conditioner provided barely adequate cooling. The gaps around it were sealed with tape; I'd hate to stay there when its cold outside. Difficult to set the shower temperature. Bed and linens comfortable. The grounds are pretty and well landscaped. The property sits right on the water with beautiful views. There are several common areas that offer cozy couches with coffee tables. The adjacent restaurant is not cheap but their food was delicious - my halibut was perfectly cooked with lots of finesse. Their lobster bake was rich, creamy, tasty and came with toasted pesto pita slices - it was worth the $18. Breakfast is included and was good. Cereal, bagels, yoghurt, juice, sausage and eggs toast, muffins etc. Short on fresh fruit though. Coffee was very good. Staff was friendly and service minded. We checked in late and were hungry and the front desk clerk found us some muffins. So...if you bring earplugs for sleeping you should be OK.

It was the first floor of a home at the rear of the inn itself. It was modern and bright with a large living room area with office desk, a screened slider out to the rear private patio/flower garden, full sized kitchen, washer/dryer, king bedroom, large well appointed bathroom with lots of hot water. The front desk staff were friendly and helpful. Warm cookies were provided each afternoon, weekday receptions with free beer and wine and a great breakfast each morning served in the front lounge area of the main inn.

Check-in service was superb and we were greeted with a mini tour of the inn and given a map with popular spots around the city. There was also a fresh batch blueberry muffins waiting for us that were to die for! The room we got was good and a bit dated, but given that we were only there to sleep it did it's job! Breakfast the next morning was a lovely plated meal with a yogurt parfait, quiche, and fresh fruit. We didn't know what quite to expect when booking here, but wished we added another day to our stay. My wife quickly reviewed some bed and breakfasts in Prince Edward Island and managed to find the very accommodating Colonial Charm Inn. We were to leave Sunday morning, but were still undecided Friday night. Colonial Charm Inn agreed to hold our room until noon the next day when we would know better whether we could go. Luckily, we were able, and that was the beginning of a very memorable and pleasant 3-day stay at Colonial Charm Inn. At the moment of arriving, we were greeted by Jeff, who immediately made us feel at home. He was very friendly and helpful with any requests or advice that we needed during our stay. The Inn is an older home adorned with antiques, prints, and even a suit of armour or two! The decorating may not appeal to everyone, but we like the historic atmosphere. There was parking in the front or rear of the building. And because, we had expensive bicycles on the rack of our car, they allowed us to store them inside, so we need not strap and lock them on the car every night. Very convenient and safe. We were booked in The Charles Henry Foster Room. An en suite and balcony! The room was perfect. The antique 4-poster bed may not be the perfect comfort for some, but we were fine with it. Let's face it, it's not a high-end hotel. It's the high-end hospitality and charm that was worth every penny. The following morning we met Shelly, Melanie, Hannah, Reg ... and the friendliness and special attention continued. Everyone was very cordial and relaxed. They prepared a wonderful breakfast every morning during our stay. All very fresh and homemade. During our cycling excursions, sight-seeing, and dining out experiences, Reg and Shelly were equipped us with all the maps, brochures, as well as, great advice and recommendations. They could not have made it any easier for us, especially our 25th anniversary dinner arranged and booked for us at The Delta. That was one of (maybe the top two!) culinary experiences we had in our well-travelled lives. (Maybe another review for them) Thank you everyone at Colonial Charm Inn! We can not thank you enough.

We found it on purpleroofs.com and we were very lucky to have discovered it. We were visiting my partner's nephew who was working on an organic farm on PEI for the summer and our stay at Maple Hill was an added and unexpected pleasure. We had never been to PEI before and did not know what to expect. Mike and Paul are the proprietors and they could not have done more to make our visit more perfect. Their guest house is nestled on the side of a wonderfully landscaped hill with expansive and private views of the green and plush countryside. We stayed in a beautifully converted barn that was spacious, decorated and incredibly comfortable. Their flower garden is absolutely stunning (Paul is a landscape architect) and the "Pidgeonnair" (a little room house located on a private end of the farm) was great for yoga, meditation or just relaxing in a private area. They actually farm and have several cows so the experience was absolutely complete. Breakfast was superb and we had a traditional lobster dinner (the other choice was a harvest farm dinner), that could not be beat. We also enjoyed their company and they even invited us to a concert in a nearby town (in an old church), which just made the trip all the more complete. Stunning, spectacular, fun, quiet, peaceful, beautiful and everything in between. I highly, highly recommend Maple Hill Guest House not only when visiting PEI but also as a destination. The hotel is located directly across from the Basilica, a half-block from Victoria-row (for shopping and food), so very convenient, and tons of character (compared to a chain-hotel). They offer free parking, though it is limited (so park early to ensure you get a spot!). Free wifi too! If I come back to Charlottetown, I would definitely stay here again.

It was a true home away from home with a private entrance, kitchen (with stove, microwave, fridge, washer/dryer and all of the fixings) and living room. They gave us a couple of bags of chips and coffee as well. The apartment also included an assortment of games and beach towels we could use. I love that they are as eco-friendly as possible, with marked containers for recycling, housekeeping every 3 days, and refillable soap containers. The location is a short walk from all of the restaurants, shops and water front. I would love to come back and stay here again!

They built a outdoor patio area which was prefect to relax and enjoy the sun before heading out to dinner. Our room was the Jacque Cartier room. Super comfortable queen size bed and linens. The bathroom has a shower claw foot tub. Dee and Chris are great innkeepers. The food here is delicious as well, with breakfast included with our stay. Selection of fresh fruit, yogurt, inn-baked scones, and two hot breakfast options. There also make French pressed coffee, which if you been around PEI, you know there are extremely limited good coffee options. Definitely staying on all our PEI visits.
