Horrible experience with this contractor. We bought new home from Jim sands construction who had…read morehired Al Gordon to do all the plumbing heating air conditioning work. First summer in our new home Our a.c. unit would run all day long on hot days and never shut off till maybe midnight and air temp. in our house would actually raise a few degrees during the day. We called sands about this and he sent Al Gordon himself to our house. He checked the a.c. unit himself and said it is fine. We complained to him and said it runs all day long ect... He replied and I quote " it is better if you a.c. unit runs continuously then to have it cycle on and off now and then" . I asked him will does your a.c. in your home run all day long and temp increases during the day ? he wud not answer and left and would not help us. We put up with it until 6 yrs later the A Coil in our A.C. unit burst and leaked Freon out. We called Gordon about it, and said "well warranty has expired and we would have to charge you our full rate to either fix or replace it. We couldn't believe it. We hired a different contractor to help us. Plus we had others looked at it and told us their opinions. Compared quotes opinions from 4 licensed heating cooling plumbing contractors and all 4 were AGHAST at what they saw- Gordons had put in a 2ton A.C. unit in a 1650sq ft house, they all said they would never put in one that small in house that size, plus they noticed the unit had under sized wiring to it- had 16guage wire on a 30 amp circuit, should have been 10 guage wire. Some of the 16 guage wire already had some of the insulation melted off. They all said Gordon put in undersized equipment, wiring, and cheapest equipment in. In our new addition in town of Janesville ia. Gordon did this to all the new homes in this new addition. Most of the neighbors here are having the same issues with their air conditioning also. IN SHORT AL GORDON under bid the competition by installing undersized cheapest equipment he could get!!! We now have a new high efficient 3 ton rheem A.C. unit with 10yr plus warranty installed with proper wiring, and our electric bill during the summer has been drastically reduced. I normally don't complain about people in business on their own, for they have to work hard to stay in business and have lot more pressure worrys than us that work at places. But after what we and some of our neighbors have gone thru, WE WILL NEVER recommend this business to anyone. We all asked him to please replace these undersized a.c. units with bigger better ones and he refused!!!! He only cares about himself and not about the customers!

This company has been caught falsifying documents and still claims he has no way to justify his…read morepricing for a "specialized part" We had a main line issue at our home, Brent was the only one that answered us on a Sunday for repairs. He came out and did a temporary fix until we could get the city out to shut off the main water. Monday he then reported to fix the main valve in our house. We have video footage proving that he was not at our house yet at 9:08 and being gone by 11:40 that day, he attempted to charge us $536 originally claiming that the part he had to use was specialized, without clearing the special order with us first. I called him to inform him that I had placed a stop pay on the check that I wrote to him because I needed proof of the pricing of the part. He then provided me with a detailed reciept that shows 3.5 hours of work along with a main valve part for $127. This is a part that could have easily been purchased from Menards/Home Depot for $20. When I asked him about the pricing and compared to home stores he claimed that they sell "cheap, cheap parts". I stated that we didn't need any top of the line product and just needed the job done. He used all original bolts (I can tell because they still have the lime stains on them.) After realizing that Brent falsified the labor cost I sent him the original detailed invoice back with many notes on it explaining that I would not pay the invoice until proof of pricing was provided and that if he falsified his labor costs how am I to believe any of his pricing practices. A few weeks later we received a new invoice with the labor adjusted to 2.5 hours but all other pricing was the same and a LATE fee was added as well. I called Brent and explained that we received the new invoice and reiterated that I am not paying the invoice until I receive proof that the part was $127 and nor was I going to pay a late fee, regardless of how long it takes to get the proof. Brent then stated to me "I have not way of providing proof and the late fee is something that is auto charged and will be until the bill is paid. Thanks for calling" and then he hung up on me. The invoice has additional various "sales" lines on it that add up to a total of $122, again, no other parts were replaced except for the actual "main valve." Any reputable business should be able to provide a receipt to show the cost of an item used at any job... and yet Brent is stating he doesn't have anything.

They made us find someone to dig up the yard and billed us for them watching the guys dig. They also tried to bill us for having two of them watch the other guys dig. We didn't authorize them to work overtime and the owner was argumentative and down right nasty to us when we discussed the incorrect over charged bill. After a flood of curse words and expletives, no pun intended, we were fired as customers and the bill was worked out. We will never use again, thank god we were fired. Now they're fired too! Use ANYONE else! Don't go through what we were put through.
