I brought in a vintage Fossil watch for a battery replacement. I was quoted "one week or less" by the sales associate, and she dropped my watch onto the floor. I decided to proceed because I had expected whoever to do the battery replacement to have more delicate hands considering the stellar reviews and recommendations I have read. I never received a call from Ryder Jewelers. Twelve days later, I called the store and was told to come in. I received my watch with a broken lug split in two pieces. The man explained to me how it broke and that it can't be fixed. He made sure to remind me that my watch "was already broken because it didn't run even with a new battery." Watch movement can be fixed by someone with sufficient skills and expertise, none of which exist at Ryder Jewelers. I would have rather been told from the start that they do not feel comfortable handling a unique piece. The repair boy is overly ambitious and delusional thinking that he can complete tasks that are beyond his skill range. I knew that the watch crystal was going to be a slight issue, which is why I didn't do the battery replacement myself, and I was under the impression that this "fine" establishment would have the technique to combat this. The man told a sales associate to look up the value of my watch. He offered to give me $20 cash because that's the price of the first eBay listing. It was not the same watch. The girl told me "but the numbers match" referring to the style number. She held my watch in her hands and did not even bother to reference it when looking up a comparable match. My watch has a sun & moon dial on the face that moves throughout the day. My watch has a unique multifaceted crystal that I have never seen on any other watch before. The $20 eBay watch had neither. These people did not treat my watch with care and respect considering how it was manhandled from start to finish. They only see the monetary value in your items. They do not take sentiment into consideration when handling your pieces. If you love and care for your watch, do NOT bring it to Ryder Jewelers. Unless your jewelry/watch is brand new and fits in with the latest trends, they will treat your items like JUNK. I have received compensation, which was unsatisfactory in my opinion. I have lost a beautiful, irreplaceable vintage item, and they do not care because it is not worth nearly the same as the jewels in their display cases that can be found and replicated in any jewelry store. read more

My mom gave me a ring for my birthday that was way, way too small. It was also an antique. I needed the prongs checked and the size fixed. They took it from me and got it back to me in less than a week- beautifully fixed and perfectly fit. The store is small, but their selection is very nice. When I'm in the market to buy new jewelry I will definitely go there. The price for the ring repair was very fair as well. Customer service was great but I got a permanent bracelet ($240) on Saturday and when I got home a few hours later it had fallen off. I might as well have flushed that money down the drain. My friend got one the same day and hers came off the Monday after. Two days later. I have had many permanent pieces at other places and have never had one come off. Popped in to inquire about an estimate on a prong repair for my engagement ring and eventually soldering my engagement and wedding rings together. Since the holidays are coming up, I didn't expect a quick turn around and I was just curious what I could expect as far as cost and timeline. I was admiring their gorgeous selection of jewelry and chatting with the lovely ladies while the bench jeweler looked at my ring. A few minutes or so later, one of the ladies handed me back my ring. I thought I'd be given a quote but the jeweler had already bent the prong back into place! You could've knocked me over with a feather. My ring looked perfect again. I tried to pay but they declined. I certainly wasn't prepared for a free repair. My ring even got a little steam cleaning before it was returned. What amazing customer service. THIS is how you get repeat business! I wish I'd thought to ask for names, but I will definitely update this review after I return in January for a soldering. I just left Ryders Jewelers, what a Great experience. In 45min I had a necklace repaired in 4 places and a prong replaced on a diamond ring. They are equipped with a state of the art Laser welding machine that repaired the ring prong and the gold necklace. It has a monitor that the customer can watch the repairs being made. The management were very hospitable. The shop is placed in the center of downtown Ocean Springs were you can dine while you wait or shop. Great day! read more
