Josh arrived within 30 minutes of my Saturday afternoon call and was extremely polite, kind, and helpful. He also listened to my car story and offered support and encouragement. The next day, Sunday, I called Tom's again to schedule a tow for Monday morning. I needed to get my car to a shop that worked on manual transmissions. Martha at Tom's took my information over the phone and said the car would be picked up between 7:30am and 8:00am Monday morning and towed to the requested shop. A few minutes before 8:00am Monday morning, Martha called to let me know my car was being transported. I'm grateful to Josh, Martha, and the crew at Tom's for providing an invaluable service. I had them do an oil change on my 1973 Mercury Cougar and was told I needed an oil pan because the…read moreexisting pan was rusty and leaking, they found one online for over $600.00 so I found my own from West Coast Classic Cougar for $ 85.00. was charged $884.83 to replace a part that had at most 10 bolts to swap out. It was a simple swap nothing from the suspension needed to be removed, so I am perplexed about the inflated labor cost. I would strongly advise anyone with a classic vehicle to avoid this shop at all "cost" I received a call from Steve explaing the high labor cost to do the oil-pan swap and in the beginning he did inform me that his labor cost books did not go back that far for a 53 year old vehicle so in all fairness I googled the process of replacing said oil-pan and found out that the motor did need to be raised to allow room to make the swap. Steve did explain this to me but when I said that was his opinion boy did his demeanor change and as others have commented he did get rude. so I am amending my review to be fair to the shop; but I still would not recomend this shop for classic car repair. It is sad that it is very difficult to find a reputable repair shop in Springfield for classic cars.

Do NOT take your vehicle here. I took my 15 year old truck here to get worked on. My truck needed…read morenew shocks, the check engine light, the brake lights were on(Note: I took my truck here to get the brakes worked on about 8 months before and cost me $800) and it was Idling crazy..I dropped it off and called and talked to Jim and explained to him what was going on with the truck. I said I didn't want to put a lot of money into the truck. He said he completely understands. Without warning, I got slapped with a $1200 bill. My dad picked up the truck and called me and notified me the engine lights were still on. When I finally got to drive my truck...I realized not only were the engine lights still on...IT WAS NOT RUNNING ANY BETTER. I called and expressed my concern to Jim and asked what exactly my $1200 went to..he had a laundry list of things he did to it...but I voiced my concern that everything he did didn't fix the problem that I took it out there for. He said "I don't have time to do shitty work"...and then agreed to take a look at it again. So yet again, I dropped it off at his shop for a few days. I returned back from vacation and picked my truck up after-hours when no one was at the shop. Only to find that THE ENGINE LIGHTS WERE STILL ON and it was running no better once again. I had my dad call out there the next day and talk to Jim, he said they had discovered the issue this time and to fix it, it was going to cost about $400. $400 more dollars to fix the issue that I took it in for originally???? My 99 year old great uncle takes his vehicles out here. I can only imagine shenanigans they are pulling with him. There are too many shops around to have to deal with this. This place has lost my business.
