It turns out that everyone enjoyed eating here more than anyplace else on the visit to Strasbourg, including a couple of Michelin-star stops. The burger (topped with ham and cheese) was juicy, well-seasoned and delicious. It was served with very good fries and a fresh green salad. The steak tartare, served on top of crispy hash-brown potatoes, was met with high praise. In addition to main courses, the restaurant has a showcase of beautiful desserts. Due to time constraints, we did not stay for dessert. Service here is excellent. The food came out quickly, and the servers were extremely attentive. When we were ready to leave, they were quick with the bill. They seemed to understand that you may have limited time, so everything moved at a relatively fast pace.

My husband thoroughly enjoyed his rabbit with apricots, and I loved my pike perch with pike dumpling, small vegetables strips with ginger and fresh coriander which was beautifully presented. That being said, this place is overall relaxed - my GF and I stopped there on our biking trip across Alsace and asked if they had any spots on the terrace. We were welcomed right away and, after taking a sit were blown away by the quality. First - the wines. Their crémant was excellent, just as their pinot noir. Unsurprising in the least, given that Ammerschwihr is one of the wine capitals of Alsace and the wine comes from the independent winemaker right across the road. And while you are at the entry wines, you are getting as well a "mise-en-bouche" - a small, elaborate snack for you to try to guess the ingredients and wake up your sense of taste. Second, the appetizer and the main dish. Their roasted tomato soup with ricotta was out of this world - absolutely excellent! Similarly, to the roasted neck of Black Iberico pork. A steamed selection of vegetables and baked potatoes as a side were a great touch. Beware however - if you are a vegetarian, you will have a right for a dish of vegetables and potatoes, but no dish for you on the menu, which is unfortunate. Finally, desert and coffee. The deserts are AMAZING. Their coffee machine as well. A baba au rum - a French classic - came with three different supplements and a shot of high-quality rum. Holy crap, was it good. At night, Le Moreote is like a culinary superhero transforming from mild mannered simple fare to serious gastronomy using local produce prepared by a chef with serious chops. Catherine handles the front of house with care and professionalism. Intimate and warm, the decor is charming and simple. Formerly a flower shop, the location has been lovingly renovated by the two of them one square foot at a time. We've been on both of our trips to Alsace and love their food and hospitality.
