Not so, they are just super super good at their jobs and perhaps have more natural endorphins than the average person. Bop Till You Drop are a company that send kids entertainers to host parties at your house, and we had an outrageous disco party last year, Glee themed mind you. Our entertainer came bustling in with a zany outfit and a can do attitude and transformed the lounge room into a dance floor, complete with three microphone stands, disco lights, speakers and sound system, in about five minutes. She then proceeded to dance, sing, and completely prang out with ten eight year old girls, and it was quite a show. The highlight was a full performance of the Michael Jackson Thriller dance, and the girls singing Madonna so loud one of the balloons popped. Prices are around two fifty, but they will go up if you want glitter tattoos.

However, the neutral colour tones also allow you to really dress up and play with this space to suit your event! The food is very well flavoured and cooked as they couldn't get away with doing anything lesser quality for all those nonna's in the audience of their grandchild's 18th birthday. From two 21st's an 80th, a christening and a wedding I think I now know this venue and their stock standard party agenda back to front. It's a simple and predictable space that provides consistently good food, great facilities, plenty of booze (bottles on the table no less) and has just renovated it's smaller function venue to be more spacious and with a nicer reception/entrance area. Needless to say I think it's mandatory if you are of Italian descent you have to have at least one significant celebration here in your lifetime for 100-200 people.

Partridge House at Glenelg is in no way connected to the 70's TV show. Its not the home of the…read morePartridge Family and there is no multi coloured bus parked anywhere within the vicinity - although it would be fun if there was. Rather Partridge House is a beautiful old community home, originally built in 1899 for a Mrs Elinor Varley. The house is today set amidst stunning gardens and grounds and is used these days predominantly as a venue for weddings. Partridge house can also be hired for all sorts of events and is home to various community groups and organisations. If you're looking at hiring the venue, it will seat 80 people for a sit down function or can take 130 for a cocktail party. Take special note of the fountain in front of the house as a location for you photos. It was donated to the owner by former Adelaide Mayor and state pollie, William Townsend back in 1877. Fast forward a hundred years or so to the early 1970's, in fact around the same time TV's The Partridge Family was making it big, and there was talk of demolishing Partridge House and using the land to establish housing. Thank heavens, the then Glenelg Council decided to buy and restore the historic site instead. The beautiful gardens and grounds are open to the public every day, but the house is closed.

But that's not a worry, there are only two main bits you can rent: a large auditorium seating up to 300 people and a 14m x 9m room upstairs. Dust off your boogieing shoes because the auditorium has a purpose-built timber dance floor that's waiting for you to light it up on once you've had a few drinks. High ceilings with arched windows provide plenty of natural light during the day. There's a stage. And a serving area with kitchen behind. Ample angled street parking in front of side entrances means less carrying stuff while setting up. I'd say she can accommodate some pretty full blown productions. *Tables and chairs available. Some events at the hall are reoccurring and open to the public. Off the top of my head there's: the Swing Sesh social dancing, Riot City amateur wrestling, the North Adelaide Vintage Fair and an Estonian gathering (open to all with a connection to the Estonian community, Fridays from midday). The enclosed parking lot is handy for outdoor events. Three rundown motel rooms and a dilapidated outdoor kitchen (all part of the Estonian Hall) front the parking lot. Trees provide shade, but also grow up through the tarmac creating a twisty mess of roots at the head of parking spots. These things only add character. An aside: A few months ago there was a news story on the Project about a silhouette of Jesus in chipped paint on the wall of a Warrnambool pub. Well I didn't tell anyone, but an identical silhouette appeared around the same time on the side of the Estonian House. It's gone now. Now it just looks like Bugs Bunny. Backpackers: It's a safe spot close to town to park a Wicked van or similar. There's the safety of a suburban street, except it's less awkward because you're not parked directly in front of someone's house. Frowned upon by the council, but people do it anyway.

However, recently I decided that I'd actually check it out, namely because it has been sitting there for ages, and I still haven't visited it. Well, this ended up being a really pleasant surprise, especially since it came across as basically being like a European style bar. It even had beer, and some really, really nice beers at that. Oh, and they also have an awesome cellar downstairs as well. Really worth checking out.

When we arrived for dinner we had already planned out our orders having salivated over the menu the night before. We'd been careful not to eat to much at lunch so as to have room for all the food. If we lived here we would make this place one of our regular haunts.

Catering for presentations is excellent and the screens and sound systems are well configured. The foyer area is pleasant and well decorated. They have a range of coffee machines that can serve anything from hot chocolate to cappuccinos to espressos and just about everything between. When I was here for the Powerful Learning Summit, I found the facilities to be well set up. Lunch was excellent with a wide range of sandwiches, cajun chicken, pasta dishes and vegetables on offer. Staff were also friendly and helpful. Overall, I must say that the convention centre does a great job of hosting events. I was very pleased with the organisation in particular.
