Also, the rice was done to perfection. I am a little suspicious of any Thai place that doesn't have a lot of bamboo shoots in their dishes but I suspect its a mix of local custom and the fact that this is really sort Thai / Chinese mix of cuisines (lots of duck). Only H2O for me, I'm in detox.

This should (if you can see with the romantic light in the room) be a very tasty curry (around £10, plus for rice around £3)

Came here for lunch with friends on Saturday 11th June…read more Didn't know what to expect. Didn't even realise it was here! Anyway. It is where the old Dobbies was, now Somebody Cares. If you walk right through Somebody Cares you will get to the building which the Thai cafe is in. So on entering they have the menu is displayed. In addition to the Thai food there are cakes, coffee and crisps. We ordered spring rolls (7 for £5 on this day, special offer) and I had Panyang Chicken (I think I've spelled that wrong) with rice. One friend had the combo (which was Panyang chicken and some pork with garlic - so 2 mains!) and the other had Tom yum with rice. You pay at the counter and they bring the food out. Which is great as you can leave when finished. For 3 mains, spring rolls, extra carrot salad and 3 drinks it cost £34. Good price. The food was amazing. I wanted more but restrained myself. We all loved it! I swear every time I'm in Aberdeen I'm going here. They also had a high chair for my friends wee boy. Staff really nice too. Odd location but amazing when you get there :)

They cater for all sorts of people and have a quick bite type menu where you could order curry sauce chips and rice for only a few pounds. There are other combinations available too, although we have never ordered them ourselves. The shop is small however there is a seating area and a tv to watch if you don't order in advance. Or you can even watch the chefs through the large window in the waiting area in to the kitchen! Very interesting indeed! If you are looking for something quick and tasty, The Thai Cottages would definitely be a place to try.

My Mom used to make these for us when we were kids. They are still delicious. For dinner we ordered the coconut rice, green veggie curry, and Pad Thai. The Pad Thai was the best item we ate. I was actually pretty impressed with the food. The curry we ordered tasted great, I only wish the veggies were more authentic. The servers were pleasant and our food came out really fast even though the restaurant was full. My only suggestion is that the restaurant and especially the bar needs a bit of a clearing out /facelift.

Sam's was one of the worst restaurant experiences I have had in a long time; anywhere world-wide…read more I cannot stress the fact that unless you want to get food poisoning or patronised by the owner - avoid Sam's at all cost! My sister and I turned up on a Saturday night, hoping to enjoy a nice meal together. The manager looked at us when we walked in but didn't acknowledge us. We didn't book, but the place didn't seem too busy - we eventually got seated. After sitting for about 5 minutes we were finally offered the menu - should have been a premonition of what was to come. The manager came to take our order but rushed us through the process saying, "OK, OK move on!" That was disgusting behaviour that I would have expected from an employee but from the manager of the business?! There was a bigger table next to us and he seemed to be catering to their needs more. My meal came and my chicken was RAW in the middle; obviously not wanted to get ill I informed the waitress who surprisingly said, "Would you like it more cooked?" I was surprised! The second time, it came back red so I told the manager. He had the audacity to say to me that I was lying and that it was my taste that was wrong: "We cook chicken every night, it is fresh!" I don't doubt that your chicken was fresh; it was the fact that you didn't cook it! He never apologised, didn't sympathise with us and even told me sister to "shush" when she was talking to him. We were extremely angry at how condescending, rude and arrogant the manager was - he is one of those people who would look down on others and, like what Edwin W said, brown nose a customer who seemed lucrative. I have been a manager of a bar before, and I know how to deal with customer complaints and how to provide good customer service and what this place lacks is everything to make it a great place (let alone an OK place). The lady's bathroom was also a mess and the corridors needed hovered. Sam's should have all their "awards" re-evaluated and stricken from their records until they find themselves under new management, or at least learn how to cook food properly!
