After several days in Oaxaca and having experienced much delicious food we did not find this on par with other restaurants that we dined at. This is my favorite place in Oaxaca! While you should also enjoy very traditional food here, this is a nice modern take. My favorites were the Aguachile con Camerones, the Mole Taquitos and the strawberry Negroni is to die for! I went three times in one week the service is also great, but make sure to go early or try late because they do not accept reservations. read more

It's a restaurant with a small bar. Restaurant is where you want to be. There's enough elbow room unlike the bar section which makes you feel like you're in a sardine can. No room to move around in and only 1 table and 2 corner bar shelves. Of course you can always sit at the bar which would be the ideal spot. But still to small. Food- good food with some extraordinary flavor and spin. Drinks- somewhat pricey because they are small for the price. Lots of fusion type drinks but tasty. Delicious! We shared the Duck Tacos, the Corn Ravioli with Chapulines (aka grasshoppers), and the Citric Cream dessert. It was all excellent. We enjoyed our shared plates at the bar while sipping on a delicious cocktail and tasting a special edition Mezcal and trying some Sierra Norte Oaxacan whisky. Our first dinner after arriving to Oaxaca for our first time. We really enjoyed the space -- dark, industrial and hip -- as well as our server. He was working his butt off while still doing a great job of being friendly and helpful. He even told us we were ordering too much. Gracias We both really enjoyed our cocktails -- seems to be their real focus, so don't hesitate to go for just drinks. Our food was OK -- not the strength of their offering, so don't hesitate to go for just drinks. The dishes were not bad but they have not compared to the other places we've now experienced in Oaxaca and yet it was not cheap either. On the adventuresome side, we tried chapulines tacos -- and we'll likely not order them again anywhere. (They are fried grasshoppers and in our limited survey they are not universally liked by all Oaxaquenos) I'd definitely go back for drinks but not likely for a full dinner. read more

A quick lunch here evolved into a relaxing two hours. The food reflected clear attention to ingredients, preparation, and seasoning. The simplest thing we ordered was the chopped meat burger and it arrived hot and crispy - the meat truly rough chopped (not ground), a generous serving. My first impression of Sabina Sabe was, "Damn, this place is way too cool for me." The clientele, for one thing, are all the tattooed and babely types. Their presence is well-matched to an incredibly hip ambiance and space: non-stop smooth indie hits; industrial accents held up to exposed brick and the occasional splash of colour; and perfectly dimmed lighting to showcase the impressive mezcal bar. The servers albeit, while very cool, kind, and informative, were definitely not the snobby types you might expect from such an establishment. In fact, the servers on both our visits were exceedingly pleasant and patient with these two gringas with broken Spanish and an affinity for top-shelf mezcal. The food was truly beautiful with complex and balanced flavours to match the impressive mezcal selection, as well as on-point plating (a notch up from a lot of the other fancy mezcal places in Oaxaca). My only tiny criticism of the place is that it is considerably pricier compared to similar establishments in the neighbourhood. Definitely worth the visit though. read more

i would avoid this place all together as a dining option. last night i had dinner there and my dish was disgusting. i ordered the pork which included a tasteless sauce and dry meat. now things really get bad: the person i was dining with ordered a hamburger and french fries. about 13 hours later he found himself nauseated followed the classic symptoms of food poisoning. with all of the amazing restaurants that oaxaca has to offer, this place is not worth the risk. read more

After referring many friends to this restaurant I can no longer recommend this restaurant. We communicated via FB messenger and made a reservation for our large party. When arrived we were told there was no reservation. The manager of the restaurant denied there was a reservation and stated we had made an error until we showed him the messages establishing the reservation. They interestingly list the volume of all their drinks, which is excellent for people like me who get frustrated upon being served tiny ass squeeze of a "cocktail" (with ice filling up 80% of the volume), especially when you're paying $10+ for a drink. Mmmmm.... I really like the decor and cocktails. That's it. Reading reviews prior I was excited to eat here and so was my partner. But with very limited veg options I had a roast veggie salad and mushroom soup. I love both of these dishes most of the time but last night wasn't one of them. The food shines here. They specialize in picas...the Mexican take on tapas. From mushrooms in garlic sauce and roasted vegetable salad to pork carnitas with spicy sauce and octopus grilled with lime, delicious. Service is superb although a little overattentive. One of the waiters enjoyed practicing his English and introduced himself to us. Finally, for those who struggle with Spanish, menu is in Spanish and English, and quite a few of the waiters know some English. So, why not five stars you ask? The drinks. We sampled three mezcal cocktails, one without alcohol. Sadly, all three were underwhelming... Very bland fruit taste. They would come by at just the right times to check on us and bring us more drinks. The one I had was made with guayaba, it was light and refreshing without being too sweet. We had our comida--midday meal--on a rainy afternoon. Great atmosphere. Not too big. I had a great mezcal cocktail called the Gigante. It was a normal size but the flavor of mezcal, ginger beer and herbs matched the name. My wife had a tasty soup and the tostada or tlayuda with shrimp and octopus, cooked perfectly. I had the ravioli stuffed with Oaxacan ricotta cheese and covered with a sauce verde and chalupines. The latter gave a nice crunch and salty taste. Two good desserts to finish up.
