Come here for the poke bar, beware of the other food. Bought some sealed, new, not expired pack of cheese. When we opened the cheese for our picnic, half of the cheese slices contained a large amount of mold. Also got a package of pork rinds that were stale. My favorite department is the seafood where you can get all the ingredients to make an awesome poke bowl of get one made by them. My only complaint is that they close this department EARLY...you need to get in before 5 or 6 or you have to go to Safeway. Sacked or save? We have a joke about sack n save. Somethings you can find a deal others you might be sacked. There's a Safeway and Walmart close by, so choose wisely. Things you save: the poke! It's good and it's $2 less than Safeway. It's the best. Grab some and go to the beach! The spam masubi are a good deal too and good! Beats some restaurants. Things you get sacked on: the styrofoam cooler. It's twice the price here compared to Walmart and Safeway. You'll also get sacked on alcohol. Better to go Walmart for that. Sack n Save is managed and owned by Foodland and basically each store is somehow similar. Came here for some snacks and water throughout our Kona venture. Aisles are packed with goodies - locally & internationally. Their produce is pretty good but not a lot of choices. The store was pretty clean and neat. They got limited choices of deli though. Staffs are just okay, not the kindest. Well, I guess what's important is that you got the things you need from here. Not my favorite super market in Kona. Kind of rundown and prices seemed a tick higher than others. Don't think I'll be back.

Cons: Kind of smelly and older looking with limited offerings. Bags of ice are very small. Very limited grab and go. For example the shushi selection was local, but only three kinds. Pros: close to our resort, cheaper than the small market even closer our resort. Catching stuff on sale make Big Island groceries almost affordable. They give you free paper bags. I think we were supposed to bag them ourselves, so we did. Ample room to park in the dedicated lot. read more

We've been concerned about the long waits at restaurants with the 50% reduction mandate so we've been eating in. We popped in to grab a couple items to supplement our dinner back at the condo. Saw a bag of Korean fried chicken in the cooked food area. Grabbed it. Also got the ahi sushi roll. Both items not very good. The chicken thighs were overcooked and dry. The fish was not very fresh. The woman working the counter was kind, friendly and very helpful. Ambience wise its a basic grocery store with AC, but right outside are picnic tables so we were able to sit in the sun and enjoy! In the middle of our bar hopping night out I suddenly had a craving for some cup of noodle-style ramen!? What the... After leaving the Mask-Querdade bar, we headed just up the drive to Sack N Save, which is open 24-hours. They're located in the Lanihau Center. Parking was plentiful, but then again, it was around midnight! The store is an older location and was clean. I didn't observe the details of the store because I was focused on getting my cup of noodles! After finding my precious styrofoam cup of sodium, I was on the hunt for a fork. I didn't want to buy a whole pack of them so I headed to the deli area which of course was closed. There were no utensils on the counter, but I did see some behind the counter. I paused, debating whether or not to sneak behind the counter and grab one, my good conscience told me to just buy a box of my own and take the rest home with me. Then bing! An idea popped in my head. Buy a pack of chopsticks instead because we're always in need of chopsticks! The bored male cashier was smiley and friendly. He was surprised that I had my Maikai Rewards Card on my phone. I guess there's not too many of that in Kona?
