Today I stopped in to pick up a handful of items. I will usually check the app to make sure the item is in stock before going and today was no different (~ 3:30 p.m. on a Wednesday). According to the app, the items I wanted were in stock but in fact, they did not have the items in stock. In fact, one of the items, men's body wash was almost completely barren. The shelves looked empty as if they were moving the products to another area. This is not only frustrating but also a big waste of my time. In the past, I've had employees tell me that the app doesn't reflect their stock. Perhaps this is just a drawback of the app but perhaps they should indicate with a note stating the store may not have the item in question. read more

Great place to shop when you need some groceries on vacation. Very large store with great souvenirs and items. I found some whole coffee beans for $11. Lots of parking and there was even a lady singing cover songs. read more

Didn't really want to come by here, but I needed some compression socks. Shouldn't have been surprised at all to find that many of the souvenirs I saw elsewhere in Kailua-Kona were much more discounted here, and with more options. Stopped at this Walmart for some essentials like sunscreen and bug spray. It's located about 20 minutes from Kona airport, which makes it a super convenient first stop after landing. It's also a great place to stock up on snacks and drinks for the trip, plus souvenirs and Hawaiian treats to bring back home. read more

This is the only Walmart in the area and we needed a few items. They have a ton of things. It's a regular, busy Walmart. If you visit here, try to get everything you need. Small things you forgot to bring like more sunscreen, water bottles, snacks, small cooler. Things like those will add up from other places on the island. Good prices and will have almost everything you need for your vacation. Just make sure to make that list before you arrive because it's a busy store and you just want to get out. read more

We went here twice while in Kona so far and anyone we asked for assistance couldn't have possibly been any more rude. Seriously screw this place I'd rather spend more money at a local ABC store. Shopped on: 12/11/2024 Look, it's probably pretty much a typical WalMart, no matter where you go what you're doing. What's positive about that is consistency, expectations set, etc. Went to this store as an online search indicated there was Hawaii touristy stuff there. I was looking for a hoodie for a family member. You walk in and on the right there's a good selection of typical (think National Lampoon's Vacation movie) Hawaii stuff with tshirts, hoodies and shorts for boys and men only. Nothing female'ish at all. Asked a couple associates and they agreed there was nothing in the store Hawaii tourist female. Otherwise all was as expected. You know what wasn't expected? The parking lot. Overfull, crazy parking, irritating. Maybe visit at 7am and you could park? That's when we left to get lunch before I became the only person I'd seen upset in Hawaii. read more

It's a Walmart so you know what you're getting. But this one has a great souvenir department! Highly recommend it. We also got snorkeling gear, snacks, and drinks. They were having a Children's Miracle Network fundraiser over the two days we went there. Sooooo nice they're giving back to those who are in need! The Kona WalMart & their famous wall of SPAM .. see photo !! Since World War ll, spam has remained an island staple. It's available everywhere. Even the McDonald's inside this Walmart, SPAM & rice is a featured meal. On the brighter side, the WalMart's in Hawaii have a huge assortment of quality Hula material for those talented enough to sew & craft. They also carry an entire department of Hawaiian based tourist items at prices far below the gift-shops. The 4 star rating is due to WalMart discontinuing their complimentary shuttle bus from the cruise ship dock to the store. This is a serious setback for crew members who need to stock up on personal items & can't afford taxi cab service. This store sits high in the hills above town & has the best unobstructed view of the Kona Coast & Pacific Ocean in all of this beautiful area's landscape. read more

Huge store, prices were higher then expected. Didn't have any fresh meat. Purchased pool noodles which were under 3$ Got a cool Ozzy Diary of a Madman Funko Pop complete with fake blood for 19.99$ It had rang up for 24.99$ even though there was a tag with the exact description on it for 19.99$ After a brief discussion, we managed to get the 2 of them we had brought up for that price. The register also didn't show any prices, so my 70$+ total went down to under 50$ when I questioned it and items were rung up again ?? This store also sells some souvenir items behind where the McDonalds is located. I found some really nice Hawaii mugs, however the chocolate & nuts were over priced. They also don't accept Apple Pay which would of been convenient. read more

Placed a online order for grocery's and pharmacy items to be delivered. The items were delivered as ordered. In reviewing my account They charged me twice. When I contacted customer service ( a call center not in the US). The person was hard to understand along with a bad connection. To add insult to injury I was told that the amount pending on my account of 106.42 will not be available for 10 days even though Walmart already charged and was paid 103.37. So in a nutshell they held back 106.42 in case they needed to make substitutions and went ahead and charged the actual amount of 103.37. And will sit on my 106.42 for 10 days before it is refunded. read more

Very convenient place in Kona to shop for a wide variety of items at reasonable cost. Plenty of parking with a relatively newer looking small McDonald's inside. Not that cheap for a Wal Mart but everything is pricier on the island, so it's still a good deal here so this place gets a lot of business. read more

in all honesty I love prices at walmart and have never had an issue with rude workers until today. I didn't see a divider thing mybe I didn't look hard enough but I waited until the cashier was through with the customer before me. and she was VERY nice to them. I wasn't greeted by my cashier today threw the divider on top of my things. which lead me to believe she was upset. After I asked if she wanted me to put it where it belongs. She gave me some serious attitude. I didn't like that. And i expressed my feelings towards her. I had my 3 kids with me too. I asked her what her name Was. Walmart Eyeglasses Center- everyone was nice and helpful. However there was one worker who I approached when there was no one else in the store. She was a technician who was sitting and on her phone. I had asked her about whether or not I qualified for my free annual eye exam, and she deferred me to call my provider. I went back the next day, approached another worker and she gladly looked up my coverage and saw I would qualify for a free exam next month. This maybe took all but 1 minute. The difference to me is one worker wanted to help, and the other wanted to go back to her phone. read more

Walmarts in other states are always so much cooler. This store is massive and was massively busy. We needed to stock up for our stay. The home we were staying at didn't even have a coffee machine. I cant commence a vacation with out coffee. But we also needed snacks and bubbly water and Coke Zero. Some of my favorites I found were as follows: Jars of really delicious Kim-Chi. I even bought some to put in my suit case to take home. Bags and bags of Chicharrons that I've never seen at my Walmart. Salt and vinegar was my favorite flavor. Plain was also great. Great clothes. If you forgot your swim suit come to Walmart. You'll be set. We stocked up on regular breakfast items and other regular snacks like avocados and salami. They had everything we needed. It was so busy here though. So beware of lines and just crowds of people meandering around. read more

Taking into consideration this Walmart is in Hawaii, it is rather affordable. Yes, Its smaller than a super Walmart in the mainland, but the prices aren't really that much higher. A 3 pound bag of mandarin oranges were $6.40, instead of 5ish on the mainland. The ménage trios wine s was $9.98 vs $7.50 at costco in the states. Parking was dense, but plenty of open spaces. The lines were not worse than any other Walmart I have been in. read more

I love coming to this Walmart. There are lot of souvenir items as well as Hawaiian-based food and drinks. I bought flower necklaces, a flower hair clip, a Hawaiian dress, soap, pancake mix, SPAM of different flavors such as: Bacon, Hickory, Jalapeño, Lite & Turkey and ALOHA MAID drinks such as: Pineapple Orange, Fuji Apple & Strawberry Orange. We always stop at Walmart when we are on a cruise. They have a great selection of Hawaiian print fabric at a good price. I make Hawaiian shirts for my husband and sometimes Hawaiian print cummerbuns and ties to wear with his Tuxedo. There is always a good selection of men's and women's Hawaiian print attire. They have a good selection of sizes. The people are so friendly and helpful. The only reason I didn't rate this 5 stars was because there wasn't a shuttle from the ship to and from Walmart. We caught a cab, but the crew members depended on the shuttle in previous years. read more

We visited quite a few times. Big store and gets really crowded. They don't have bags, fyi. So bring your own or buy a tote while there to carry your stuff. We like to mosey through Walmart to check out their souvenir section. And the local snacks. This time we didn't buy anything but it's always nice to see if there's a treasure or something unique. Case in point - I like the flip flop floor mop. For wiping up water spots on the kitchen floor. Slip your foot through the toe thong and wipe away. It's less expensive here than at Hilo Hattie. Of all the Walmarts in Cali and Hawaii, this one isn't as busy. You have space to roam through the aisles and comfortably debate in your head whether you should buy a bunch of things you probably don't need. I love this Walmart. It's organized and clean. I was able to get most of my souvenirs/snacks here. I've come here probably 5 times this week because I kept making more room in my suitcase for more things - plus I returned some Lion coffee after finding a better deal at KTA. It was a substantial difference and I wanted to come back for more things. I can't wait to plan my next trip to Kona again. I'll come back here for goodies. Bought Coconut Mac, chocolate Mac, Coffee, Instead of renting snorkel gear finally bought our equipment here and are satisfied with our purchases. Some of the Hawaiian souvenirs and shirts seemed a bit overpriced but the rest of the household goods seemed pretty much in line with what you'd pay on the mainland.
