We subscribe to the Bee and delivery is awful. There are days that we do t even get the paper until we get home. The purpose of subscribing is so we could get the paper to take to work The. Going online to even read the paper is a joke. You can't find anything on their website. Who ever set up this website has no idea what there are doing. The website is not user friendly. read more

Do not subscribe to the Sacramento Bee! They are dishonest. I subscribed to 6 months of the daily news paper, including Sundays, and the Sacramento Bee keeps cancelling my prepaid subscription without any warning or explanation. In addition, the Sacramento Bee charged my credit card over $140 for a 6 month renewal WITHOUT MY AUTHORIZATION when I still had 6 weeks left on my current subscription! I called them and requested a refund of the $140 and they refused to refund the money. I had to call my credit card company and have them dispute the charge in order to get my money back. In retaliation, the Sac Bee canceled my current subscription one month before it was expired without notice or any refund. I called again and requested that they continue to deliver the paper for the remaining month of my paid subscription. After arguing with them for 25 minutes they agreed to continue delivering the paper until the end of the subscription. Less than 2 weeks later, the Sacramento Bee canceled my paid subscription again. I called and discussed their error with them at length and they begrudgingly agreed to deliver the paper until the end of the paid subscription. I checked my account on their website and noticed they had now changed my subscription expiration date until the following day. I am now expecting to go through the same discussion with the Sacramento Bee again tomorrow. DO NOT SUBSCRIBE TO THIS NEWSPAPER! THE SACRAMENTO BEE IS CORRUPT! read more

I've been a long time subscriber of the Bee (even when their prices have gone up) forever but the customer service has been just horrible. I subscribe to their "Sunday Only PLUS" option which allows me use their online E-edition and receive a printed version every Sunday and holidays which is stated on their billing invoice to include: New Years Day, Presidents Day, Caesar Chavez Day, Memorial Day, Independence Day, Labor Day, Columbus Day, Thanksgiving and Christmas. On New Years Day 2018, no paper delivered to my home. I called the their office but it was closed. Called our local Bee carrier and no one answers. I called the following day and the Bee said starting 1/1/2018 the only holiday delivery will only be on Thanksgiving and Christmas. I already paid for a 52 week subscription in September 2017 and they decided to change the rules in 2018 without any prior notification to their customers. I complained that they are obligated to follow through with their contract and owe me a paper for New Years Day. They said they send one right over but never received it. If this is how they treat there long time subscribers then its time to cancel my subscription. I can always get the local news from other online sources like kcra.com, sacramento.cbslocal.com, ABC10.com 10, fox40.com or even yahoo local and google news local. It's not about this paper. It's about the policies the company has. I prepaid for a year subscription. My husband loved the barefoot paper. He passed away last month and I requested a refund (about $80). I was told I'd have to submit a death certificate. Wow. OK. I did that and heard nothing. I wrote again and this time they said they need the DC and a copy of my power of attorney or the trust. Come in. It's a newspaper. I finally got a call today and they said they're giving me my refund. No one should have to go through this. This was more complicated than anything else. I have been reading our local "news"paper for over 30 years. I have seen them change over to an "opinion"paper more and more. You can no longer simply get the news from the Bee without getting their spin on things, typically of a political nature. I wish they would just report the news and let us figure out how we feel about things. A little over a year ago, they changed their format, leading to less "news" and larger pictures. At this time, they also moved their deadline up. This means that sports fans could no longer see late sports scores and stories and casual readers would not see any late breaking news. I called to complain and did not get any sympathy. Shortly thereafter, they nearly tripled their home delivery prices. I called once again to complain and they simply said that their costs have risen. They tried to negotiate a small fee reduction but it was not commensurate with the changes so I cancelled my subscription. A few days later, I received a call from a telephone marketer (I usually hang up on them) and I signed up for about a third of what the Bee was charging me. I have been told that their home delivery rates vary depending on the subscriber's zip code. They charge less in impoverished areas and more in well-to-do areas. They are also trying to get folks to use their digital platform. I have also been told that only "oldies" are still reading the paper version. I have found that the paper will be on my porch if I request it and tip the carrier. The Bee told me that heir policy is that the paper only needs to be placed in the driveway. I like to sit and read the paper in the morning but I avoid articles that would have their political spin. Consequently, I find that it takes me less time to read the paper these days. read more

I have cancelled my subscription after discovering that my credit card has been charged increasingly larger and larger amounts, that I have never authorized, for home delivery. Numerous attempts to cancel via phone have resulted in being connected to call centers in the Philippines. It is disgraceful that the only local paper in the capital of California has stooped so low to attract readership. read more

I want to share something new about the Bee Delivery. I have had horrible service for two years causing me to have to cancel repeatedly. I keep trying to get the paper but service is horrendous. I have great news! the Sac Bee has a new advocate for customers and they actually want to provide good delivery service. I received my paper today at my front door! This was the first time in two years that has happened. I am very hopeful that the Bee does want to keep their home delivery subscribers. Calling the customer service line that goes to the Philippines does not work! You have to call McClatchy newspapers directly. I just Googled the home location and called that number. They were super helpful in resolving my problem. We'll see if it continues. I will update soon. read more

All is fine and good until you want to cancel your subscription. I've received 7 calls in 24 hours, after repeatedly asking for them to cancel my subscription and take me off of the call list. 3x people said, okay we will cancel and take you off the list, and i proceed to still get phone calls. Get a subscription at your own risk. You'll get 4 emails a day.. And honestly, their Facebook posts are a joke, as well, so I'm unfollowing them there too. Worst customer service EVER. I was a subscriber to the Sunday paper only for years. Several weeks ago we called and requested daily delivery for 5 weeks only. The service rep tried to sell and annual subscription which we denied. They were to charge us $17.00 but instead charged us $78.00. We called the customer service department and they promised to refund the $. When the $ was not returned I called them again and they had no record of our previous call. They promised to expedite the return and said we would have the refund within 1-3 business days. It has now been over 3 weeks and numerous call and still no $. Every time we call we get a different representative, who is obvious not in this country and they all have a different answers. read more

The Sac Bee keeps calling my 90 year old father trying to get him to renew his subscription. We have told them "No!". I told them to take his number off their call list. Tonight there was another call. My parents are on the "do not call list". I would not recommend for anyone to do business with a company that treats the elderly with such low regard. read more

After 37 years being a Bee subscriper I have cancelled my subscription. This last year of hit and miss deliveries finally came to a head when there was no delivery AT ALL for 7 straight days with unfulfilled promises from the Bee. While I will miss the newspaper, I won't miss the daily stress. read more

Cancelled my delivery subscription after repeated times of missed deliveries. Online problem submittals were never answered, makes you wonder why they even have it. Left messages numerous times, never answered. Left messages for the delivery contractor, never answered nor were any of the missed papers redelivered. Finally got through to the Bee business office and after a bit of high pressure to maintain my subscription I was told a refund would be forthcoming. That was weeks ago. Great! now I have to try and squeeze my twenty something dollars out of them. Just buy your paper at the store when you need it, your better off. read more

worst customer service ever . been a customer 18 years and have become disabled and ask them repeatedly to put the paper by front door and sometimes they do for a little while then go back to leaving it at bottom of steep driveway. when I call there's a long wait on hold then they say they are sorry ect and problem will be corrected but never does. .going to cancel Monday read more
