Having just completed partial hospitalization Eating Disorder Treatment for severe Bulimia, I needed someone to guide me regarding how to eat (and accept my larger body) freely, under my own direction at home, AFTER strictly regimented facility treatment. Since I am a few states away, we did online video appointments; so convenient!! We came up with super easy meal plans and shopping strategies that would not overwhelm me, and even how to dress (and accept) my new--much--larger post-treatment body. I was introduced to lots of media (books, social accounts, etc) that were a great help in between visits, too! Also I learned about Yoga and other classes specifically for larger bodies from IFN! What?? I thought I was too fat to do Yoga comfortably so i gave up, but turns out that's not the case anymore! I always felt listened to and supported at Integrative functional nutrition. It bears mention that Melanee is a great listener, never interrupts, knows how to handle emotional outbursts (mine, not hers, lol!), and always had multiple perspectives and answers to each of my questions. The subjects of food and my body are super triggering to me; Melanee was aware of this, and was always careful not to overwhelm me with too much information at once. She emailed me access to the info we'd talked about after each session, so I could go back and view it anytime, at my own pace. We used the scientifically proven, "Intuitive Eating," and "Health at Any size," strategies to reach my goals; both were the crux of my $1,500.00 per day ED treatment and were KEY to my extremely successful recovery and healing afterward. Long story short, my time with her helped me reach my goals of gaining a healthy relationship to food and with my body (if you have body image and food issues, you know how huge this is)! Taking care of me is now effortless, like second nature... I am worth it; we all are! Somehow the people at Unite Fitness managed to differentiate the weight training, no matter my experience or abilities. I never felt in competition with anyone, and there were plenty who were way more fit than I am. The program included so many facets of health and fitness. The chef prepared meals, visits by specialists like nutritionists. Choices of activities throughout the day after spending the morning in the gym. I hiked, I did water aerobics, yoga. The people who work there are sincere, friendly, and helpful. The people who attend have much in common and are dedicated to improving their health. The trainers were amazing! This was completely online with no personal contact. This type of consultation is at best a launching pad. I was expecting much more. The plan put forth was typical plan pulled from the internet. Or wait....according to Tyler.....Hours of time put in for a plan that said eat protein, carbs and veg. I also know my way around a gym.
