Darrell has been the music instructor for both of my kids, now 15 (girl) and 12 (boy), for the past few years. He has been exceptionally patient, which kept their interest and confidence up. As a parent, I feel the style of the instructor is so important so that the child can connect. I would not have gone with any other teacher. He also guided us in selecting a cello for our kids. I am fairly new to the art of violin. I met Darrell at KYR Music, and he was able to help me properly tune my new electric violin. He also briefly introduced me to a variety of new bows that he just picked up and explained the various features & benefits of each. What an amazing talented and kind-hearted teacher! Bought my son a violin and went to Darrell for lessons. The price is SO afforadable and he's very accomodating. You can either go to him or he'll come to you. He's local so we choose to go to him and my son has been going for almost a year now and is already on his second book. Darrell is spot-on with the music and is very patient. Violin is not the nicest instrument to hear when it is not being played right, but he says nothing but encouraging words to help him progress. He has Christ-like levels of patience for his students, never ceasing to find new ways of explaining or teaching a concept and adapting to each student's learning needs. Amazing!! Darrell performed as a soloist at my wedding on 12/31/15. He was perfect. He played just the songs we wanted and was a fantastic accent to our special day. He was professional making sure everything was sorted out the evening prior to and even took the time to do a couple of walk throughs with my wedding party to make sure we had the timing down and make sure everything would be seamless the next day.
