Dr. Safapour also has an office in West Hills, which is the office location where I went to. The office staff and doctor are extremely friendly and welcoming. I have had to change or be late to appointments last minute due to work conflicts and they were understanding and accommodating. I was referred to Dr. Safapour from my in-laws who BOTH went to see Dr. Safapour for separate reasons, and they said nothing but great things. My mother in law went in because she had a pain in her ankle which he had found out was a fracture and resulted in a cast - where she is now fully healed. My father in law went for the same reason I did, a plantar wart on his foot, and he was healed in no time. I had my plantar wart since 2011 and had been going to dermatologists who would freeze it, scrape off the skin, and it would come right back. I did this for a couple of years. The plantar wart was painful whenever walking or wearing heels, and I would just bear the pain. Once my father in law got the surgery, they urged me to go see Dr. Safapour as well but I was too big of a baby that I put it off for months. Finally during this past winter break, I sucked it up and made an appointment. During my first visit he identified the two corns that i had on my pinky toes which he gently scraped off during that visit. He then evaluated the plantar wart on my foot and deduced that I would need to have that surgically removed. I came back in a week, and did the procedure. He and his assistants were calm, friendly, and walked me through each step of their process. I have low blood pressure and faint easily at the sight of needles and blood, and they made sure that they were slow and methodical so no fainting would occur. The local anesthesia was the painful part. After that he removed the plantar wart. All the while talking to me about various things to distract me. He wrapped me up in the bandage, put a boot on me and was done. All in all it took about 45 mins, since I required the extra attention. He provided instructions on how to care for it, made an appointment to see him back in 3 weeks, and was out the door. My father in law made a full recovery within about a week. I had been to another podiatrist that recommended surgery in both feet. I wasn't convinced that the true cause of the foot pain had been discovered so I started asking around for recommendations for another doctor. When I saw Dr. Safapour he did a thorough exam. He asked detailed questions and after some testing discovered I have neuropathy in both feet. While I may need surgery someday, treating the cause of the pain (nervous system) is giving me the relief I need. I highly recommend him. read more

I'm so disappointed I did not have the same experience the other reviewers have had with "Dr. S". I was treated with complete disrespect and was shocked at how I was treated. It was truly bizarre. I made an appointment on a Wednesday to see Dr. Safapour on Friday. I emailed the office manager, Edith, my primary and secondary insurance cards that same day. Late Thursday, Edith leaves me a message stating I will have to pay $100+ and that my secondary insurance will not cover treatment. I knew that was incorrect so I call Friday morning. I explain to Edith my insurance is a little confusing, but that my secondary insurance WILL PAY - they just have to be billed after my primary. Edith and I do a conference call WITH my insurance company. They confirm with Edith that YES - they WILL PAY, and that I should only pay $20 for co-pay. Edith agrees verbally over the phone to bill me $20 and confirmed her understanding of my admittedly confusing insurance situation. I get to the office. Edith is dressed strangely - a leopard print tank top, a bright green bra underneath - clearly visible - 10 layers of bright glittery purple eyeshadow. She literally looked like had just rolled in from the club. I begin filling out paperwork when Edith interrupts: "Gina, we will need you to pay for the full visit up front. Your secondary insurance will not work." This is where we entered Twilight Zone. She acted as if we had NEVER called my insurance company together. She went to get the doctor. He came out and asked, "How can we help you?" I should have said, "Well, for one, I'd love it if your office manager knew how to handle medical billing!" Based on her state of dress, she's probably better suited to serve drinks at a bar. Instead, I began to explain: "Doctor, Edith and I had a conference call this morning-" when he interrupted me and said: "I don't care WHAT you did this morning! You do not understand how insurance works." At this point, they had wasted 30 minutes of my time in the morning for the conference call. Another 30 minutes to drive to his office, only to have my insurance rejected. I was so baffled at his insolence and stupidity I had to leave. SIDE NOTE (in case Dr. Safapour reads this-- which based on my experience with him, would shock me to learn he cares about maintaining his online reputation): I went to another podiatrist who assisted me. I had a bunionectomy done Feb 9, 2018, preformed by Dr Matthew Safapour, through the St Mary High Desert Medical Group. After hearing horror stories about bunion surgery being painful and the recovery difficult I was dreading this surgery. Now I can honestly say I have experienced the exact opposite reaction. Surgery went well and I have had NO pain as a result of the surgery or recovery. Dr Safapour is easy to talk to and explains everything throughly. To find a doctor like Dr. Safapour is rare these days. He is genuinely caring, knowledgeable, empathic and professional. My mother had severe bunion pain. He explained her diagnosis throughly and suggested options to alleviate her pain. I appreciated that fact that surgery was suggested as a last resort option. My mother ultimately decided to have Dr. S. surgically correct her bunions. Dr. S. did an excellent job. She had minimal post-operative pain/discomfort and recovered quickly. I work in a warehouse & on my feet all day moving & picking up heavy boxes and steel parts. My feet were bothering me to the point it was painful to walk. I cannot thank Dr. Safapour and his office staff enough for what they have done for me. After having a HORRIBLE experience with a previous podiatrist, I was fortunate enough to see Dr. Safapour. He was so informative, knowledgeable, and nice. He diagnosed me with having a bunion, a cyst, and a hairline fracture on my right toe. It was a breath of fresh air when he went over everything with me and that he answered all my questions. We jumped through all the health care hoops, were scheduled for a surgery to remove my bunion, and a week before it was supposed to happen, the surgery was canceled by the surgical center. It was such a frustrating experience for all of us. I had to write the COO of my medical group to get everything sorted out and thank the heavens it finally happened! I must admit the last 5 months were frustrating for all of us, but we did it! Thank you Dr. Safapour and your office staff for sticking it out with me. My overall experience with Dr. Safapour was so negative that I would highly advise anyone and everyone to GO SOMEWHERE ELSE. I saw Dr. Safapour for a very minor foot surgery, which I told would be a piece of cake. 7 weeks after the surgery, the small incision was not healed (despite the stitches being taken out) and there was serious loss in feeling in the area of my foot surgery. 8 weeks after surgery and despite meticulous post-care, I got a serious staph infection due to the open incision, spent 7 days in the emergency room, and almost didn't make it out alive. I had to receive a corrective surgery from another surgeon to remove the infection and clean everything up. I still don't have much feeling in the operated area, which compromises my performance as an athlete. Overall, I couldn't be more disappointed with the low level of service I was provided. Not only that, but to top it off, the office's receptionist was outright rude and unprofessional to me multiple times in person and on phone calls. Do not come here if you want to receive professional treatment and adequate customer service. read more

this doctor is not trustable at all. i went to see him a few years back for a very small in-patient procedure, just to trim the corner of my toe, something a pedicurist could do. he told me to go back the next day which was a day before new year. when i got there, he was ready to do a surgery. i asked him what he was doing? and mentioned do not do anything causing me not to be able to walk etc.. because of the holidays. He said he is trimming the corner of my toe and before i could protest or leave, i was in a cast. i was totally confused. i went home with the cast and throughout the day, i was having severe pain and gradually my toe turned black by afternoon. i called his office several times. he was not available. finally called my general practitioner and told her the story. she called the pharmacy and ordered anti-biotics and painkiller, etc, which we were able to pick up just in time before they close for new year. i was home all the new year and had to cancel my vacation. when i went back to see him in 10 days, he acted as if nothing happened and was surprised that my toe turned black and i had pain???? kind of it was my fault. i stopped going to him for follow up and went to see another specialist who was surprised to see how bad my toe turned out just for a minor procedure. I learned that he did not follow the proper procedure for a surgery which i didn't want and was not needed. i am sure he just did it for the money. He was paid $1800.00 for the procedure. a pedicurist could trim my toe for $60.00. do not go there. i doubt his state of mind. read more
