The place is quiet, cold, clean, and just a gun club. Google maps will sometimes try to send you a building up or down, so be aware. Otherwise, a nice little venue that is kind to anyone who happens to wander in no matter what the reason is when you visit.

He is very good at developing confidence with people who are afraid of guns as well and those who aren't. The purpose of the course is to practice being in a situation where you might (or not) have to legally shoot someone, so you can develop familiarity with your fight/flight response, tactical positioning, how to talk with 911 and not get shot when the police arrive. He uses a computer and projector to create interactive scenarios to mimic plausible real world situations. We had three people in our course, and we were able to run five scenarios. Maximum was six people, but I think three was about right. He also gave recommendations on flashlight and pepper spray use. Attended this course after a $5 preview course sponsored by US Law Shield.

We used the opportunity to become more familiar with rifles since most of us had only shot a handgun prior. The staff and vendors were welcoming and it was an easy process registering for the range as a first time customer. They had plenty of eye and ear protection included for free and a good selection of targets, ammo, and rental pistols. The range itself seemed pretty standard in my experience with indoor ranges, so no complaints there. While I like the central location of this range, I think my only hesitancy of coming back here is the parking. I mean it is a very small lot to begin with and only half the spots are available to Top Gun because they share it with another business. We got there shortly after opening and it was already full by then. We were forced to park way down the street because street parking is limited as well. Multiple times while we were there, the staff were calling out vehicles that had parked in a non-Top Gun space for removal before they would get towed. I just feel a business of this size needs more guaranteed parking. To note, the range wasn't even that packed inside when we first got there because again we got there shortly after opening, so I can only imagine how frustrating the parking situation will be during peak hours. Otherwise, I recommend this place if you are looking for a decent range in Houston. They also sell all your firearm needs and my friend actually bought a handgun while we were there. It also looks like they host firearm classes as well which is helpful for beginners or those that want to sharpen their skills.

I have a suppressor in NFA jail and they use silencer shop which is horrible. For context if you've never bought NFA items in the past and your only experience is Silencer shop, then you just don't know how horrible they are compared to shops who do everything on their own. Anyways it had been about a month and a half since my suppressor had arrived there and I logged onto my S Shop acct to see the status and Alpha Defense had had the process for over 2 weeks in their pending status. So I called to verify and they were like oh yeah! So I e-signed my docs and process now back to S Shop... fast forward a few weeks I went into the physical shop to find out what the deal was and why i wasn't notified and the best answer I got was it slipped through the cracks and oops. I was having a normal conversation asking why they use S Shop and if they thought about doing everything in house like most other shops who care about their name/brand/customers and the kid behind the counter who I dunno if he is a manager, owners son, or just a shop minion became visibly agitated and made several comments to me not knowing anything about me, which isn't remotely ok on any level. I get you love what you do and that you think being behind the counter makes you omniscient, but it doesn't. Sad to say because of this encounter after my last 2 suppressors are transferred I won't be returning and I recommend no one else does either. Judging from the conversation I was trying to have with the NFA kid, he doesn't care if S Shop ruins their NFA business or not. My advice is find a shop that does the NFA process in house aka not using Silencer Shop and since the NFA kid at alpha defense clearly doesn't care how Silencer Shop treats its mutual customers find another gun shop altogether.

He told stories to make the classroom time flyby and I was entertained the whole day. The gun range was a blast. I've never really liked guns and have always been scared of them so I went in super nervous, having only shot a gun a handful of times. By the end of the hour at the gun range, I felt so much more comfortable around guns, understanding how they operate, and more confident with my ability to handle one. I felt safe around Gary and the other students because he was so adamant about safety first. I would recommend this class to anyone!

But Gary hung in there with me with such a great attitude that I am forever grateful and recommend him to anyone who wants to learn Texas gun laws throughly, with a comical twist, and who wants to pass their LTC test and the range test. Get some rest the night before & be ready for a long day of excitement. Prior to going into the course, Chris provides all the information on how to get started and how to make it go smoother. CLASSROOM: The instructional portion was about 4 hours, we mainly cover gun laws regarding licensed carry as well as some general firearm safety. Following the instruction was a written exam. Chris does an amazing job education his students (There is no need to fear to fail) RANGE: The range is where we are assessed based on our shooting proficiency. However Chris emphasizes on his students understanding the safety and handling when it comes to fire arms. Shooting a fire arm can be scary at first for those individuals who have no experience but no worries, Chris is a just as good as building your confidence and assuring you as he is an instructor. Some final thoughts and why to consider this course: Chris is exceptional with communication. He is prompt on returning and sending detailed emails regarding any questions.
