We powered through all of the modules without breaks (we all agreed on this, of course) and were done an hour earlier! It will take you half a day to complete the course. You will do exercises (wrapping a bandage, CPR, AED operation and more tasks) but there is no written test for certification, just participation. My colleague and I walked out feeling more confident and equipped to handle situations that could arise at work (we deal with the public when we are open, so it is a requirement on our employer to take the class). I will sign up again when I have to re-certify in two years with this company.

This type of coursework is literally lifesaving but with the wrong instructor, it can easily be a snoozefest. Andrew is the opposite of that and you can tell he's quite passionate about teaching. He made sure to make everyone feel included and answered questions and addressed hesitations in material. I'm normally quiet in these types of classroom settings but I felt confident to ask questions and perform the exercises that were required. This was especially disappointing after my original admissions rep, John, had already failed to follow up for over two weeks after receiving my transcripts. This experience left a very negative impression, and I will no longer be considering Unitek due to the lack of professionalism and respect shown to prospective students. Disgusting attitude! The online portion was very knowledgeable and was just enough info needed to pass the class portion. The classroom session was very nicely done. Each student had a dummy and there was a baby to share per two people. We reviewed everything that was covered online and got a hands on experience during roleplay. The certification will be valid for 2 years. I hope I will not have to use any of the techniques taught, but if I do, I'm glad I'm certified to help save a life!
