I've attended Safety Training Seminars to obtain my CPR card prior to becoming a licensed healthcare provider and continue to attend BLS/CPR classes to renew. Safety Training Seminars is easy to book for appointments, central location that hasn't changed much over the years and provides quality classes to better equip the everyday person to providers with life-saving knowledge. The classes run by instructors Tomas and Tina are well run, seamless in transitions and are sure to provide constructive criticism all the while stressing the importance of certain key points of the training. The mannequins can be finicky but work well to simulate the given situations. All training equipment is provided and clean. After the videos, and skills simulations there is a 25 question test at the end. The instructors provide breaks and there are items such as water, coffee, tea and granola bars available as refreshments. The price point is reasonably cheap and if you have the existing book, you can save yourself an additional cost. You receive your eCard within hours of completing the training. I would highly recommend for ease and providing quality information. They give out portable keychain CPR masks with Yelp check-in. read more

I've been here several times over the years for my BLS renewals. As always I had an A+ experience during yesterday's class. Facility: Very clean inside the facility, including the restroom. Complimentary snacks and drinks were offered. There was also a charging station available for use at the front left side of the class room for students to use. One student was assigned to each desk to help maintain a 6ft distance. Items were disinfected before and after use. Lysol wipes were available if needed and hand washing was encouraged! Instructor: This time my trainer was Tiffany. Tiffany was very patient with students who were asking questions. Some of the questions were relevant, others not so much. She kept her cool the entire time. She also admitted when she wasn't 100% sure on an answer to a question (this question was not totally relevant to the material being taught so it made sense not to be 100% sure). During our 10 minute break she did some research, found the answer, and shared it with the class. She was also very observant to detail which was helpful is helping important concepts stick. We just watched a video and practiced on dummies while she walked around and critiqued our technique. 8 hours CPR- First Aid training sounds tiring, but Tina is such an awesome instructor, she made it a breeze. We started with CPR. Some of the mannequin they have in class don't work properly, but Tina was always quick to help. Lunch break was about an hour (McDonald's, Subway, Safeway, Walgreens and Starbucks are only a few minutes walk. There is a diner there too but the wait is long). We came back for the First Aid training, and Tina gave us an extra 10 minutes break when she noticed that some of us were tired. The test was quite easy, if you have been paying attention you will surely score 100%. I collected my certificate, and totally forgot to check in on Yelp to get a mask. Bummer! Anyway, anyone who needs Safety Training should definitely sign up for this class. If you need to get your CPR/AED certification, then this would be the spot to go if you're in the San Jose area. Easily one of the most painless experiences you will ever have. It's $50 bucks, plus $20 for the book you need to have. One of the cheapest options in San Jose. Believe me, I checked. They check you in, and the three hour course is done in about 2 1/2. The instructor, whose name eludes me at this time (Tina? Linda?) was great and super friendly and helpful. I pretty much knew what I needed to do at every second. Watching the video can be a bit depressing as their is no closure. Did the baby at the gym die? Did the dude who had a heart attack at the airport make it? Still, very informative. Because I was interested in a specific volunteer opportunity that required CPR certification (RockMed), I came across the San Jose CPR Certification office. It's sponsored through the American Heart Association and there are several locations around the Bay Area. I was specifically looking for a CPR and Basic Life Support class (specific for people involved in health care) and this place offered it. It's like $60 for a 3-hour class, not including the additional manual/book that's around $20 for a new copy. But for $80 and a morning of your time and effort, you'll walk away with SO MUCH knowledge as well as a new certification to save lives! Coming in, I was a bit nervous of the experience but the instructor was very welcoming and super helpful. Every person in the class came from different backgrounds and skill levels, but we were all here for the same goal of helping others. The course was broken up into several parts (adult CPR, child, infant, and choking situations), with each session including hands on practice and videos. Overall, the morning went very quickly and smoothly! At the end, you're given a short quiz and if you pass (by basically paying attention) you'll be given your certification as an ecard. Looking back, I'm SO GLAD I took this course. It taught me so many things I never knew about life-threatening situations and how to deal with them. I know how to perform CPR now as well as how to use an AED. The only feedback I'd give to the course is for it to be maybe longer? It felt rushed and I wished the instructor kinda worked with each person individually; she did help everyone practice skills but it wasn't too personal. Plus, I honestly don't think you need to shell out $20 for the book for this course because the instructor basically teaches you everything there during the class; you should however get the book on your own time to really dig deep into the concepts. Our instructor Erik was knowledgeable and very thorough. Breaks were every hour for stretching and using the restroom, lunch was 45 min and he gave us some local food tips.
