I get my groceries and medication at this location. The are always nice and helpful. The Starbucks inside is clean and the drinks are great. Would heartily recommend.

Safeway, New Westminster, BC

Grocery shopping in another country is always interesting. Many things are the same and many things are different. As grocery stores go, this Safeway is similar to others I have been to in the US. Produce, frozen, deli, bakery. I picked up a can of baked beans. Yes, these are different. I've not seen "British-style" beans in Charlotte so this would be an interesting and portable thing I can bring home from British Columbia. (They're bigger beans than the Bush's beans I'm used to. And sweeter.) Self-checkout worked fine and we were on our way. [Review 20898 overall - 74 in British Columbia - 1882 of 2023.]

Fresh watermelon

This has been one of the Safeway I frequent always whenever I pass by. They never disappoint with all the fresh fruits in stock no matter what hours. Staff are quick to help if there is issue at the self-service kiosks. The store is clean and wide, plenty of space to walk about even at its peak hours. There is also a Starbucks cafeteria inside.

i like this Safeway. You cannot beat the location and convenience. If you take transit, it is on the concourse level of the skytrain station. It is not a very big store but it is sufficient for grocery runs. The produce is fresh though not that cheap. Watch out for their $1 deals. They also did samples during the Christmas season and I learnt great tips on making dips from the staff. The Chinese take out section is ok but I find it too expensive as it goes by weight. If you order broccoli and rice/noodles which are naturally heavier, then you will be paying a lot more. I wish they will do combos option too like in T&T. The hot soup is very good. They do run out fast. I also like the demi-baguette from the bakery. It also sold out quickly. I like the ready-made meal or pre-seasoned meat section where you can just stick them into the oven to cook. The washroom is horrible, avoid if you can.

Definitely located in a good location. Its at the New West skytrain station. Prices here are lower than some Safeway in Vancouver. Its busy but never crazy busy. Service is ok. Things are stocked. Very clean as well. There are parking downstairs.

Since I travel exclusively by Skytrain and the occasional bus, it's the most convenient grocery store for me.

A first time experience there for each of us (though she had been into one of their other stores). We were certainly not disappointed with the wonderful variety of products -- both the familiar, and the rather unique to our usual supermarket shopping experiences. The store was certainly well-stocked. And many of the displays -- whether offering organic products, or not -- were interesting to see. I had expected to find some higher prices for items I know (= by identical brand and product), and purchase elsewhere. And from the time I had to look 'where' and at 'what' in the store, this was certainly confirmed by my observations. For us, going into this 'Choices' was an inquisitive, first time experience -- a brief look about, and we enjoyed that. We had not discovered a new-to-us supermarket for any regular future shopping. But it was one that could find us going back for some of their 'specialty', and/or difficult to find items as required.

After you wash it a few times you get this nice settle colour and it's not like I like it better.

They carry a variety of pre-packaged bulk items like spices (whole and ground), beans, dried peppers, and sugars. They also have snacks (like tamarind or Indian mix), baking mixes for things like gulab jamun, some Latin cooking ingredients, and homemade Indian specialties like chutney or pickled mango. The prices are generally very good. The owner is very friendly and can help you find items or figure out what something is used for. They have a lot of items you won't commonly find at a supermarket.
