Well, I guess I've never been to a Save On Foods in North Van before because I was impressed!!! I wish we had this kind of Save On in Vancouver and Burnaby. I was so envious! The store was beautifully decorated and very clean and spacious. There was even a wine and beer store! There was a buffet serving Indian food! And samples were being given out all over the place - like Costco! LOL! Everything was impeccable and prices were the same as anywhere else. read more

Great store for selection but the staff are awful. They do not move when asked to move as they stand around chatting rather than working. This is on the floor. Never mind trying to get service from the back. Managers clearly are the tone as they block as well and do not care to move for customers . We went to customer service, they ignored us. Decided to swing around this location recently to buy up some quick dinner. Many of the foods do look pretty tasty so it's hard to pick an option. The prices are somewhat fair but often are very expensive. Decided to buy a couple of chicken Parmesan with noodles, it's not bad at all but definitely not my cup of tea. This price thing is really the only issue I had with this store (and many of the other Save on Foods as some of the prices just doesn't make any sense at all. Yes, inflations, tariffs and such but still..... around $23~$24ish for 2 portions chicken Parmesan? Not the worst thing I've seen but definitely could be much better, especially since it wasn't even great. As for service, there isn't really much to say other than the one employee that I had asked for help because the self-checkout was on the fritz again was friendly. read more

If you are an Anglophile and there is no British Specialty market near you. Save On Foods is here for you. Depending on location, some have more variety than others. One can pick up Tesco Teas, TW. Wilken Jams, Cadbury Chocolates, Instant Gravies, English Pickles amongst other things. Save On Foods, If you are listening.... why are you not in the works with Waitrose, or Forntum and Mason and import some of those holiday biscuits and puddings during the Holidays. good place to grab a drink while walking on a date also bought my date a stuffed animal, price wasn't to bad.

This has been our go to place for grocery shopping for the past few weeks because their store doesn't feel as crowded as the Lynn Valley location and there's a lot more offerings and choices here. But I only started coming back here a year ago because I actually avoided this location for a while due to being accused of fraud by a female manager & it sent me into a panic attack. Their produce is always fresh looking and there's a wide range of kinds available. The people in the deli are always the nicest out there. The shelves are also always stocked throughout the store (though there were some empty spots but that was to be expected with the world situation that has been going on the past few months). The only thing I dislike (the reason why I took that star away) was that interaction I had with the manager (I hope she's not there anymore). Other than that, I highly recommend this store, especially if you like international foods because they have a nice, organized few aisles of it. read more

You can tell a lot about the management of an operation by the way they conduct their business. When the pandemic of 2020 hit, this store did several things: The bulk foods section was closed; They implemented a policy that put limits on the purchase of any one item; They set up a good line-up structure for the check-out; They opened one hour early for seniors only; They limited the number of customers in their store. All of this is good stuff, considering the unusual times that we are going through right now. We started on-line shopping with them a few weeks ago and the software is very easy to use. The only problem might be with selecting delivery times, as they are so popular that they are often booked up. Recently, more times have become available, so it appears that they have increased the capacity by adding people and vehicles to the delivery service. Top marks for this company. read more

I was amazed at the size of this grocery store. In words, it felt like an aircraft hanger. This Save-On is big, and sitting in a nice plaza. Aisle's and long aisle's of food selection. Easy parking, a clean environment, and everything is in it's place, a nice grocery shopping experience. read more

This is my favorite place to shop on the north shore, and one of my favorite places I've ever shopped, to be honest. This is mainly due to the exceptional gluten-free/alternative foods section available. The store is always clean and staff have always been super helpful... even beyond what I would have expected. They once ordered in special salad dressing for me! Prices are pretty good, lots of parking, easy access. I basically never shop anywhere else at this point. read more

This Save On is has a large parking lot and the store is well laid out with lots of maneuvering room. The customer service is alright and there are occasionally specials but overall I have to say that I'm not impressed with the prices these days. A big store like this one should be able to negotiate better prices on products than the smaller markets, but lately it fails on many items on my shopping list. One example is Udi's breads. They are up to two dollars more here! Much less at Donald's Market on Hastings. Blue Diamond Almond 'milk' is waaay over priced! Today they had deal, what a joke it was. Two for 7.99. WHAT?! I can buy them for 1.99 each, ALL the time at Donald's Market on Hastings. They have non gluten sausages in the meat dept. But the prices are not enticing considering the flavour and freshness is lacking. They're finally getting on the allergy foods band wagon as are a lot of big food stores, but the prices are inflated to the point of price gouging and the "gluten free" signage that I was so excited to see at first, turns out to be misleading and I became ill from gluten once already because of it. There's a good variety of "natural foods" selection where for example you can get non gluten pasta (for double the price of many other places)., and non gluten cereals that you can also find for less elsewhere. Keep shopping around for sure if you have food allergies and you want to feel you're not being price gouged. Unless you're rich, then by all means, keep shopping at "Save On". The name is a lie to me now. read more

I had the best service ever today at Save On Foods Park & Tilford. I was looking for a certain kind of sandwich wrap in the bread department. It was not on the shelf so I asked Cam ( the gentleman working in the bread section ) if they had any in the back. He went and had a look and came back saying he was sure they came in & they where still packed on the skids and should be out later that day. I continued my shopping , he found the wraps and took the time to find me in the store to give them to me. That is amazing customer service which you rarely find anymore! I tried out the online shopping with this store since sometimes I am too ill to go do my own shopping. First experience I had was bad. The bill I got was $20 more than what the app indicated. It turns out they gave me two whole chicken instead of 2 orders of chicken breasts boneless and skinless that I ordered. Also, I was charged for an extra carton of eggs. I wanted a small container of olives, I ended up getting a medium size. When I called the first time to resolve and refund the chickens, I realized that they don't refund to your credit card but as credit towards your next online purchase if I didn't call. Also, when I called again for the extra carton of eggs cost, the guy said he will get someone to call me back, but no one did and my credit card are not refunded yet. It seems like no really knows what they are doing with this online shopping thing from this store. I don't feel like I get any right kind of customer service either. Very frustrating and very disappointed that no one is refunding me my $27.29 dollars. I would not advise with online shopping with this store. I had better experience with the North Delta store. read more

Wanted to give a great review to the Save On delivery team; I live in a remote location and I am at 'high risk' , so I rely on Save On to deliver my groceries safely. They are the only local supermarket who do this. Dean and the other drivers go out of their way to get here, and when he missed us today, Dean came back to deliver in his lunch hour. Been shopping there since early nineties. Only place I shop unless I don't have access to car. Pharmacy is especially good and I've been to many including other Save-On-Foods. Staff in every department is helpful and I consider this place as the "gold standard". Superb selection, price and convenience. Also, their rewards program card actually saves you money on items you actually need and buy. Hope it doesn't get too busy because of this review.......lol read more

BAD CUSTOMER SERVICE LADY I went to this SAV-ON-FOODS and wanted to buy a seasonal item that was displayed outside. It was heavy and I thought I may need help lugging it in and taking it out. As I had a leg injury I was visibly limping. I hobbled over to the customer service desk and asked for a hand to purchase the item. The lady at the desk, gave me a dead-pan stare and didn't respond. I repeated the item I was interested in and she just stared at me. It was the weirdest experience ever! This was Saturday morning. no one at the store. As the previous review has mentioned its pretty much the standard Save on Foods. What I like about this particular location is the selection of natural foods and amongst that a small but adequate selection of gluten free foods. Be careful, the gluten free is mixed up amongst other natural foods so read labels carefully and make sure you are indeed selecitng a GF item. Also check out the frozen food section for more GF food...mainly breads and waffles. This Save on Foods is good because they are the only store I have found that carries the Glutino Hamburger Bun. For you celiacs out there, this is the closest I have found to a pre made hamburger bun in all my searching. Otherwise, this Save On Foods is like any other. On another note, I use to swear by Save On Foods and I thought their prices were the best. But when my husband got laid off and we really had to start pinching pennies I realized that Save On Foods has lost this title and in fact, dare I say it, Safeway is even cheaper on alot of items. read more

I love to shop at Save On Foods! They usually have friendly workers and I love their bakery and their meat department. However, out of all the Save On Foods this one is the worst! Unfriendly customer service (Eden) looked at me with a cold, blank stare and just pointed as if I was dumb for asking for a flyer to start my shopping. The workers stocking the shelves are great and helpful if you could find one. Then it comes time to pay...Cashier (Cary) made a big stink about me using coupons. She read my coupons over and over and then asked for 3 other workers to come view the coupon as if to make me embarrassed for using it. Then even after it was ok'd she still tried to refuse the coupon for no reason. Seriously it was only 2x 1.50 dollars off... and then refuse to double bag my items even though I told her that I would be walking a long distance. She just stood their with a blank stare looking at me like I wasn't speaking English when I asked for another bag and just carried on with the next customer completely ignoring me... Most of my items ended up dropping one by one on my way home because the bag ripped from the bottom...It was awful. Worst part is this one is the closest to me. But after this experience I will never shop their again! FYI if anyone is planning to buy fresh produce steer clear of this location. read more

Are all the Save on Foods the same? No, not to me. I had a problem with an item I bought. I had gotten all the way home and it was not what it was supposed to be. I emailed the store to let them know what happened (I wasn't going to go back and complain) and they addressed my concerns two days later. I didn't ask for anything, I just wanted to let them know what I bought had spoiled. The manager was so kind and replaced the item for me and then some. I am always so happy with their service... and it's a hop, step and a jump away from so many other places I frequent. How convenient. read more

This used to be such a good place to shop. Customer service has literally gone down to zero and you can tell that the employees who work there are disgruntled and feel like they dont like their job. What do you expect when you pay them a bad wage and expect them to be happy. read more

This store is not as convenient as others for me, but I go there occasionally as I had enjoyed their produce. Recently I bought some lamb chops. When I opened the packaging the contaminated smell was overpowering. I returned to the store, had to wait for 20 minutes in the customer service line, despite the availability of other tills (Safeway does exchanges at the till), until I was helped. There was no problem getting a refund, but I was struck by the tempered response. It was as if I had brought back an item with damaged packaging, not a potential public health hazard. I think I'll stay away from SOF for a while, and will probably never buy fresh produce from there again. read more

Was disappointed at this location today due to lacklustre customer service. I don't often shop at save-on but sometimes go to Park & Tilford for other reasons. The food selection was decent and the store is nice. The checkout experience was terrible. There was only one cashier to checkout large orders and he was slow as molassses so i opted to try the self checkout. Big mistake. Three female staff were standing around chatting with each other and I was having trouble with the attempt at customer service would have been an improvement. I had a terrible experience today at the Save On Foods at Park and Tilford in North Vancouver BC. I am a senior and went for only a few items, so I was happy to find a small cart in the 'buggy corral'. I finished my shopping and was leaving the store when a middle aged Asian lady ( Store employee gathering the carts from the parking lot) started yelling at me from 30 feet away, saying 'not our cart, not our cart' ! I said that I had found this cart in their 'buggy corral' and started to continue to my car. She then screamed at me 'NO, do not put that cart there, bring it back to the store, not our cart! ' I ignored her at that point and carried on to my car which was halfway down the parking lot. I got to my car, unloaded my 2 small bags, and my purse, and turned to see her watching me and then coming towards me still yelling at me ! I was very unnerved because she was so angry towards me. I was NOT about to take the cart all the way back to the store just because she told me to ! When she reached me, I told her that and also that it was her job to collect the carts so she could deal with it. I quickly got in my car but I was shaking over this frightening encounter. I have sent a complaint to the store and hope that I get a response, but probably not. Being elderly, I am so very shocked at this treatment. I probably will not shop at this store again. read more

While the prices are okay, you can get better prices at Superstore, so that's not enough to balance out the HORRIBLE customer service. It's almost as if they have never dealt with people at all. I find this to be true of pretty much all the Save-on-Foods I've been to. read more

My husband picked up barbecue chicken and salads from the deli tonight. What a huge disappointment. The chicken was so overlooked it was dry and stringy . The potatoes in the potato salad were still hard and crunchy. The cole slaw was "inedible" so we just through it out. I will never buy from their deli again. Lesson learned... I read the other reviews and though I haven't lived there for a year and a bit when I did live there for many years this save on was my go to grocery store. The deli was always clean and fresh and the produce nice. I live up north now so trust me when I say the prices aren't bad at.all. Certain things you can get cheaper else where but not like here where Safeway bends you over a table for anything from cereal to salad dressing. The veg down there was always nice and always in stock. Here it is a good day if the lettuce is on the shelf or on the shelf and not wilted. If I want bc produce I need to go to Alberta to get it because Safeway here offers me a steady diet of Mexican and American produce among other places. I cannot buy most alternative products in town including cleaners, soap, body products, certain foods. I never had a problem with customer service, in fact the lady that works in the book department was so good to me that I wrote her boss complementing her. The things I miss now are the quality, selection, price and natural products. read more
