The staff watches the children go in and watch as they leave and have three safety guards after school. The meals are well balanced and nutritiously tasty to the youngsters. After the completion the next year at a new school is smooth and the children prepared. The only flaw is the playground not being separated for the younger to older as I wouldn't want a Kinder child playing on the large playground equipment for older children as they may and do get injured. The library is a luring , intriguing center of attention to these children because it is decorated with colorful posters and models. The floors are always clean and bathrooms sanitary. I wish I could express the excellence that some described here because, in my…read more40 years of being involved in professional arts as a certified art educator and gallery owner, this was the most ill-planned workshop I have ever encountered. When we placed the deposit she wanted to know our level of experience so she could adjust the workshop accordingly. She knew we were experienced certified art educators yet she taught elementary level color wheel information. She picked us up at Ghost Ranch in a car that was messy, dirty, and barely had room for us to sit. We crammed ourselves into her back seat and were cautioned not to sit on her eggs. She was afraid we would be kicked out of Ghost Ranch...something about she didn't get permission to teach there. She panicked when a proprietor approached her, but we were fine there. We expected to be taken to the plein air workshop to participate, and she drove around so we could select an area. Then we had to tote all of her supplies to the site and help her set up and tear them down and tote them back to her car. I have a disability but did my best to make several trips across uneven surfaces. . I was concerned with the vague references to how much the workshop was. Something was said that made me think she was increasing the price and so I asked how much we owed her over the deposit. She said she was too busy to discuss that and later informed us that since there were only two of us that she was charging more for private lessons! And it was a LOT more. Also she expressed that it would be the same charge again the next day, when the understanding was that we were paying a one-time fee for two days. We didn't plan to go to the second one after the first-day experience so it didn't matter. We cancelled our second day. She was so afraid that we weren't going to pay what she became demanding. The lady needs to learn some tact....after she learns how to teach art. I can usually find something positive to say, so let me end here with despite the experience I loved seeing Ghost Ranch.

Local artist and instructor Jane Shoenfeld met us at the designated time and place and proceeded to open our eyes to the wonders of pastels and landscape. The location was a superb venue for plein air instruction. As my wife and I are at different artistic levels, Jane was able to instruct each one of us at our particular level. We found her to be the consummate teacher and professional. We each felt we had opened ourselves to a new medium and had received in such a short time an amazing amount of information. She actually extended the lesson past the 3 hours so that we could reach a point where we could finish our projects by ourselves. The slight problem I have is the administration they have a nice system with the students being able to decide or help decide, but they are very extreme about it I was called the other day for an abbreviated curse word and before for talking to kids outside of school over summer. It's a very small school with the teachers being able to focus individually so overall 4.5 stars.

5 STAR REVIEW La Maripossa Montessori school is a total gem…read moreand I am incredibly grateful my 2 children attend the school.  The staff is wonderful and each member of the team is so engaged and genuinely cares for the kids creating a fun learning environment where they can accelerate at the pace that suits each child.  The environment is exceptional with a very creative playground, kids can climb, use swings, take care of live animals including goats, chickens, and horses, it's totally amazing!  The guest teachers that come through are often masters in their fields and enrich the experience with special teachers for subjects such as piano, art, Spanish, and science among many others.   I love that the class rooms include a range of ages to give children the experience of being mentored by older students and eventually becoming a mentor themselves as they progress within the class.  The internationally focused curriculum gives students a sense of their place in the world where different cultures are celebrated.  The decorations and extensive planning that the staff put into holidays is incredible, and it seems like every month there is a wonderful celebration.  The older children are very engaged in the community and go on frequent field trips to places such as animal shelters, an elderly home, and out to train service dogs.  How much fun to go and play with puppies as part of your school work, no wonder the kids are happy when you pick them up!   When the older kids test perfectly in geography, those students are invited out to lunch to a restaurant of that continent as a special treat, what a great incentive.  My sixth grade son even had the opportunity to deliver the American Creed at the roundhouse, which was a huge confidence booster and an excellent experience.  The staff also encouraged us to test him within the John Hopkins University for Talented Youth program and he passed the test with high honors which is now a great accolade going forward. I am in awe that I can honestly say my kids have been happy every time I have picked them up from school.  The level of commitment and attention to detail that is required to achieve that level of happiness within a school environment speaks volumes in itself.  I recommend this school to anyone seeking a truly nurturing, stimulating, positive, creative, dynamic, and healthy environment for their children to give them the very best start in life!

You won't find a more fundamentally amazing team as Katrina and her hardworking and caring staff. They allow the children to grow at their own rate guided by teachers who truly love and care for their students. Highly recommend La Mariposa Montessori School!
