You will be seated quickly, given hot tea and a menu, which is also on the wall. Generally I go straight for the Pho but this time I went with their specialty, Bun bo Hue. It was my first time having this delicious alternative to Pho. The soup base is lemongrass and chilli. There is no shortage of either in the broth, along with heaps of spices, veggies, noodles and your choice of meat. Their menu has many varieties and combinations to suit. I was impressed with the flavourful broth which was spicy and fulfilling. I could have sat all night slurping it down had I not somewhere to be. Noodles differ from the traditional Pho as they are rounded, so it can make for a tricky situation if you are trying to eat subtly. I nearly forgot another perk, the portions! There are 4 - YES 4 - sizes to choose from with prices that will sit easy on your wallet. I went with the medium size for $11 and could not finish it all. Their version of a medium would be another place's large. Props if you can finish a Super Bowl size. Insane. Morale of the story is that I will eat here again, as I may have found a new alternative for Pho. The end.

They are quite quick to get take- away made, which is nice. Portion sizes are really generous and the food is reasonably priced considering how consistently good it tastes. Entrees cost around $10 or below and mains around $20 and below. They are only open for dinner between the hours of 5.30 and 11.00pm but they are open every day. The décor is modern with Thai reminders coming in the form of artwork and ornaments well placed amongst the squeeze of tables and chairs. They have dining options inside and out and provide outdoor heaters to protect against the cold. Service is fantastic and the waiters are very attentive without being annoying. They frequently walk past and will fill up your water if it is getting low. They are keen to have a joke with patrons and every time I have been I have always had really friendly waiters who joke around with us. I go there with my family and the atmosphere is always incredible.

It's probably their most popular dish- meat from a souvlaki style rotisserie done do an excellent quality. It's shredded souvlaki meat, isn't actually a chewing marathon/bubble gum meat that dislocates your jaw. Moist yet crispy still. There's some good items on special too. There's also the mixed grill option in mains if you want to taste a a few options of the mains in one meal. It's very meaty though. Given the style of the restaurant, it is advisable to share a scattering of entrees,- the ubiquitous fried calamari and saganaki are always important decisions. But one could opt for a village salad or something else. The fired Zucchini is super salty. Very good house made grilled flat bread, I advise ordering a few of these as the bread is good enough on its own. The sausage in red wine is a flavoursome heart winter dish, that is a little small. Mostly, the food while quite opulent and very carnivorous is of good quality. Enthusiastic and warm service from pleasant waiters, They seem to really enjoy what they are doing. A small selection of desserts but each one is great, and it can be hard to decide. The ethos at Spitiko, is homely, and homemade, much as if you were to eat at someone's house, and had a host.
