I had some of the best seafood of my life here! I came with the husband while passing through. The dining room wasn't terribly busy (nothing was though, it was off season). I had their seafood pasta, which was delightful. The seafood was so fresh and tasted so good. The husband's pasta was also delicious. Prices were as expected for a more upscale restaurant. The interior is tastefully decorated, and makes use of every square millimetre of space available making for an experience that is not for the claustrophobic, or those with national secrets to discuss over dinner. We were lucky enough to get a reservation at Sails a few weeks back. I could not believe that a little restaurant in a country town can have 3 sittings on a Saturday night! Good on them! I had the Lobster Thermidore pie for starters. It was outstanding such a great combination of flavours and nicely cooked. For mains i had the whiting and chips with a delicious side salad, it was simple fish and chips but the flavours were fantastic. When i looked around at what other people had, it all looked great. I cant wait to return to Sails, there is so much more i want to try! read more

We (3) were driving from Adelaide to Melbourne and we were advised to stop at Robe, a little town famous for its lobsters. Because we got there quite late for lunch, we walked into Sails and decided to eat there. The restaurant has relocated from a tiny shop to a bigger place and this looks 10/10. We were quite surprised of seeing such high standards put into the restaurant. Staff was super and food and wine superbe! I got spaghetti with blue crab and they were to die for! I can't find really anything negative, so I would recommend it 100%! read more

One of the most popular and buzzing restaurants in this small beachside town, I was told that Sails is not to be missed! And indeed it was not! We had a beautiful meal here (even though my order was initially forgotten - however they didn't charge for it - a $35 lamb rump FREE!) and absolutely everything else was great. The wine was divine and the service top notch (except for the forgotten meal!) There were a range of dished ordered on our table - a seafood platter, fish of the day, a steak and more - and all of it was delicious - even the chips were something to write home about! I'd give them 5 stars but I have to be diplomatic - if I'm ever in town, I'll return and if everything goes perfectly then they'll get that extra star! read more

This is a different sort of review ... you know, the sort of review when you book a table, and the restaurant ends up being closed for some inexplicable reason. My partner and I love Robe - we come here a couple of times a year, but had never dined at Sails. This time around, I thought we'd give it a go. I called up on the Sunday afternoon and left a message booking a table for the Monday night at 6.00. Well, their website states that they are open 7 days per week from 6.00-9.00pm. So did their answering machine. They never called to confirm, so I assumed the booking was fine. We arrived for dinner at 6.00 ... and it was CLOSED!! No notice on the door - nothing. Luckily Pizza Project was open across the road, so we had an absolutely delicious dinner there (highly recommended!). I've still had no contact from Sails - I didn't bother calling them, as I'm sure that they'll tell me they didn't receive my message, so what's the point? But I definitely won't be going there again! I have since heard that they tend to close if they don't have enough bookings on that night, so maybe they didn't think a table for two was worth their while - very unprofessional. read more
