The whole street is packed with character, from the old style buildings and brick walkways to all the unique shops, restaurants, and little hidden spots along the way. We spent a good amount of time just exploring and browsing, and every corner had something interesting. There are plenty of places to grab a snack, a drink, or just sit and people watch, and everything feels very walkable and relaxed since it's pedestrian only. The atmosphere is what really makes it special. There's a constant mix of music, laughter, and energy, but it still feels laid back and fun instead of overwhelming. You really get a sense of old St. Augustine history blended with a lively modern vibe. Overall, St. George Street is a must visit if you're in the area. Great for walking, shopping, eating, or just soaking in the scenery. Easy five stars and a place we'd happily come back to again.

Pure fun walking along the one mile long pedestrian only corridor with boutique shops, bars, restaurants and deep Florida history lining both sides. Recommend highly to stay at the boutique hotel St George Inn. The street is very busy during the day and most shops close early and at dark the area gets flooded with students from the Flagler College nearby. A few kiosks selling ghost tours through the haunted St Augustine area in a trolly or the walking tour through the old jail. Yes, we got sucked in on two different occassions and slightly boring but not pricey. Located at the North end of the street, take two hours out of your day to visit the Castillo de San Marcos National Monument but beware the excessive heat in summer time - really cool cannons though. Fun times always on St George Street in St Augustine.

Yes it can get warm and sweaty inside on a hot and humid summer day. No it is not a simple few steps either. It can be difficult if you don't pace yourself and drink water. St. Augustine has always been such a special place for family and I. Every time we climb to the top the views are always special. Every ticket helps to conserve the lighthouse and the area around it.

Spoiler alert: I think this is a must see while visiting St Augustine! Wasn't sure what to expect…read morefrom the lighthouse visit. The fee at first seemed a little steep. But, it was worth every penny of it (see last paragraph for additional things to see on the property). This lighthouse was lovingly restored by a group of passionate people- who also kept the property from being razed and becoming condominiums! The preservation work is ongoing and informative. The history is very interesting- you will see it as you climb the stairs up the lighthouse. One story about a cat and a parachute was particularly interesting. The staff member at the top of the lighthouse was very informative. The glass prisms making up the light part are amazingly beautiful, and so are the views from the top of surrounding Anastasia Island! The lighthouse itself maybe the main draw, but the property offers much more to visit. There is an archeological preservation building - which you can enter and discover how they preserve historical items. There is the lighthouse keepers house to explore. Several small sailing boats are on the premises with information regarding their history,and also a short trail through native trees and plants. A small restaurant/ snack bar is also located on the premises.

History abounds overseas, but this site lets you sample a bit of history here: the first Thanksgiving, site of the oldest Catholic Church, first mass. Definitely pilgrimage worthy. For anyone, it's a peaceful, relaxing break as well. The grounds are lovely and well maintained, a walking path goes throughout. A church, museum and chapel are on the premises. The Great Cross is immense and striking. Parking is free and available, a St Augustine rarity. A memorable part of our St Augustine visit.

Sadly, the owner and creator of Castle Otttis, Kendle Icke, passed away in July 2023. However, his son, who lives on the property does conduct tours for small groups of people who have reservations. His tours are very interesting with information on how the castle came to be. Apparently, Mr. Icke had a couple of dreams about a castle in great detail, which he shared with a builder friend of his. The friend encouraged him to build it and agreed to help him. They were able to get donated building materials to work with. Mr. Icke built the castle in the image of old castles in Ireland and dedicated it to his wife. Castle Ottis was built between 1984-1988. The Ickes also had a home on the property to the left of the castle. We took the tour with a small group of people, which worked out very well. There are 3 levels if you count the rooftop, where you will see gorgeous panoramic views of the ocean. This is a castle based on 1000 year old Irish castles. The tour is free but donations will be greatly appreciated. A must see if you are in St. Augustine. It is a magical experience. There are special events held at the castle, like weddings or anniversaries. It is also great for photography opportunities. This is a one of a kind opportunity. Please note that Castle Otttis does not have handicapped accessibility. Parking is available on the property for the guests. You are allowed to take pictures inside the castle.

A little brief history on St Augustine. It was founded in 1565 by Spanish admiral Pedro Menéndez de Avilés, and is the oldest continuously inhabited European-established settlement in the contiguous United States. It's known as the "Ancient City," and serves as the county seat of St. Johns County and is famous for its Spanish colonial architecture and rich history. Some of the highlights to see and do are the Castillo de San Marcos a 17th-century Spanish stone fortress that defended the city for centuries and now serves as a major national monument. And if it's shopping you're looking for then the St. George Street area is for you. A pedestrian-only thoroughfare in the historic district featuring over 30 historic houses, shops, and restaurants. And your trip isn't complete until you do the "Nights of Lights" A world-renowned holiday display where the city is illuminated by millions of white lights. Note: this is only during the Christmas holiday season and a few weeks after. I didn't have enough time to see it but the famous St. Augustine light house is something to see. But those steps will test your physical fitness. lol And for all you photogs. Some of the most beautiful Spanish architecture I've seen. You'll wear that shutter button out. Very popular city but packed in the summer so plan accordingly.

Visiting the old…read moreneighborhood brought us back, and my husband and I had an enjoyable evening walking around St. Augustine drinking in the history and beautiful lights. We spent a lovely walk around the waterfront, looking at the famous beloved Lions at the bridge and all the way to Flagler College. The Lightner Museum was the highlight across the street, and we walked down St. George Street for old times sake. Everyone wore masks and kept an appropriate social distance. Not crowded since it was after the holidays.

My wife and I searched and searched until we finally made an appointment with Angie at the Llambias House. Let me just say, WOW! We immediately knew this was it, it was exactly what we were looking for! Elegant, beautiful, chic, fairytale like, and much more! If you decide this is your place, too, make sure you work with Angie! She envisioned exactly what we wanted, helped out tremendously the day of our wedding, and up to the day of. She immediately responds back to any questions or concerns you may have, and is extremely personable. We ALWAYS felt welcomed (even when we asked a billion questions)! Our only set back was the miscommunication of the insurance policy for all vendors. Being new to the wedding world, we were unaware of this rule (and it was never talked about directly). The Llambias house provides a list of preferred vendors, but you can also choose other people which we did for some vendors. The set back was that it was not directly stated that ALL of your vendors must have wedding insurance. The people on the list of preferred vendors were insured, but we did not know that this was the reason. We didn't realize either that not many vendors have wedding insurance, so it was not something we asked about before hiring. It did cause a problem with our DJ, and we lost our deposit and had to find another DJ a month before the wedding, but everything happens for a reason, right?! YES! Our DJ was even better than the 1st, so it ended up working out in the end! The Llambias house was gorgeous the day of our wedding and made for phenomenal photos!
