Prayer when is a must can be done from anywhere. Came to see someone at the hospital and just felt the need for prayer. Early 0730 mass was ideal. Love the glass art, very traditional. But was very disappointed. Coming here made me realize why I stop practicing Catholicism. The priest starts a mass talking about politics. Why?!!!! I don't watch the news for a reason. This is suppose to be God's home, a place of prayer. Not a place to convince an audience of what is a right Vote or wrong one. Only God judge not a priest. The all the religious statues in the church make it seem like God and everyone in the Bible were white! Blonde and pale skin. Very uncomfortable for the minorities wanting to listen to God's words. Jesus was born a Jew and was far from pale skin or blonde hair. There should be an actual cross with no color to welcome everyone. Sadly I will never return to this church and don't recommend it to anyone. But I did come to talk to God to help me and those I love and he already heard my prayers because good things started to happened before I even walked out. Amen.. We found a home in St. Coleman's! The clergy here is inspired, educated and kind. The church's has found a way to balance the sacred Catholic faith while remaining relevant in today's complex world. Jesus is very present during communion and love and kindness are offered in every service. read more

St Coleman's Church in Pompano Beach is a Roman Catholic Church. They have services on Saturday and Sunday. The church itself has two sections. The main section is where mass is held every week. Off the main entrance is another room smaller with an alter and pews... It's called the Chapel...This is where I held my father's church service for his memorial... In the back of the room was an organist from the church who sang beautifully during the service. Because we didn't have more than 50 people, this setting was perfect for us and felt more intimate. The mass was very somber and soothing.. Two of my daughters were allowed to speak at the end...Father Jerry Morris preformed the service and communion. He did a lovely job and was very respectful . Father Jerry even came to the hospital and preformed the "Anointing of The Sick "and "Last Rights" to my Father... Father Jerry was extremely compassionate to my mother and family during a very difficult time...He really gave her peace and comfort after my father's passing..... St. Coleman's holds a huge Italian Festival every February... There are tons and tons of food venders, rides and games for kids, and even bands who play music...its a lot of fun.... I've been able to attend this festival many times when I used to live in Florida... This event is so popular people come from all over Florida...St. Coleman's has its own school if your looking for a parochial education . I would recommend attending a service and seeing for yourself how friendly everyone is.... read more

We are recent new parishioners to Saint Colemans, having moved from a previous church up the road. We were thoroughly impressed and love the congregation, the mass, the priests and everything about Saint Colemans. It has truly brought us closer to God, and strengthened our religion. We always welcome new priests i.e., Father Eliseus. His heartfelt passion and commitment to our faith is second to none. Yet this Easter Sunday I felt was a huge missed opportunity for our Catholic faith at St Coleman's. One of two of the biggest and most important days at mass with the largest congregation and the opportunity to attract more parishioners including my 27 year old daughter back to church was lost. Unfortunately no one could understand Father Eliseus. One would think an opportunity like Easter we would have our most articulate priest presiding. Please understand this was not easy for me to write but only hope it is received as constructive. God Bless read more

Ive been here for christmas eve mass...ive been here for sunday services today, I am there to celebrate the life of my dear friend (and my friends mom) Jane De Padro, Man, it seems like the older im getting the more people are leaving my world. Even my dad said last night, "you hate going to funerals!" I guess its not my most favorite thing to do but today I have to be here to show jane my respect. St Colemans is a landmark in lauderdale. Its got an elementary school that all my friends went to (i went to a public elementary up the street). Its easily seen on us1 because its got a moving animated marquee in front of the church. Colemans is most known for their Italian Festival in February or march, Ive been a few times. Its a small church carnival but what gets you is the italian food and vendors. There must be 25 different booths cooking up italian favorites and of course fried dough with powdered sugar on it. I guess thats the italian version of funnel cake. I knew jane didnt have long to live and she was always so nice to me there would be no way I would not attend her funeral. I know the service will be packed as the dePadro family was very influential in broward county from the 60's, right around the time they built St Colemans. Janes service is at 10 am this morning so I will have some photos to follow. I have T minus 2 hours to get it together get dressed and head over to the church for a sad send off today for Jane. Im sure jane will be watching over all of us while we pray for her soul today. St Colemans church is a beautiful church and its the perfect choice(I think the dePadros were members at this church) to say my last goodbye to my friend Jane. (ill check in when I arrive this morning and post some photos during the mass. Saying goodbye is never easy..especially when you love the person like I loved Jane DePadro. Nice music (choir and band) and a pretty setting on the outskirts of Pompano (but just a short bus ride up from my neighborhood and conveniently near some shopping and restaurants) make this ideal for my possible parish church. Let's see how good a Catholic I am and if I can make it up to the 8:00 AM Mass for the Assumption of our Holy Mother this Friday (August 15, 2014) morning - as always, the spirit is willing but the flesh is weak. BTW the pastor's sermon this past Sunday was a bit of a snooze fest but there are other clerics there so I'm going to have to try out different masses and see which one "fits." read more

Decent Novus Ordo. For those looking for Mass while on vacation and looking for reviews based on the liturgy: this wasn't bad for the area. The good: the priest followed the rubrics, the responses were sung with organ accompaniment, the priest didn't gawk that we knelt and received on the tongue. The not so fabulous: the Our Father was sung with some show tune piano accompaniment, laity traipsing all over the altar, all female extraordinary ministers wearing robes like they were clerics, 1 altar boy with seemingly no purpose and wearing shorts, no actual altar candles, homily about the multiplication of the loaves was about sharing meals, instead of the foretelling of the Eucharist. Overall, it was licit and my children weren't scandalized. Whew. That said, if you are looking for an EF Mass, Lantana has one at 2pm. read more

I'm an active parishioner of Saint Coleman, and I'm very happy with our Pastor and the entire clergy. The church is beautiful, well maintained and people are very nice and generous! I have one observation for our visitors to have more respect and manners while in the church. This last Sunday April 10th during a Baptism, it was a zoo. People were arriving during mass and couldn't keep quiet. Taking thousands of pics and even going up to the altar to pose!!! God Bless. read more

This church is only about money. That's all they care about. I had my child christened there and it was horrible. The priest out loud in front of everyone goes through the file and demands his check. The christening is poorly organized. The guests can't see anything...and the priest was rude and rushed. He didn't explain anything and was annoyed that no one knew what he wanted us to do. The mass prior to the christening was all about donations, money money money. It's sad that this otherwise beautiful church took God out of it and wants Benjamin Franklin instead. read more

It truly saddens me to write this review. I was a parishioner of St Coleman since I was in grade school and a student of St. Coleman from 4th-8th grade. I always dreamed of the day that I got married at my parish. Getting married at St. Coleman was an absolute nightmare. It was nearly impossible to get a hold of anyone at the rectory when trying to book my wedding ceremony there. After finally reserving our date 9 months later, Father Henryk performed my ceremony. I sent him a detailed explanation of the readings and songs that we wanted for our ceremony about two months before the wedding day. Since he was a new pastor at the church following Father Foudy's retirement, I also include a short bio of me and my husband so that he got to know us a little better. He did not read any of it. Once we got to the rehearsal he wanted to do everything completely contradictory to what we requested. The worst part was when he told me in front of all of our family and friends that he was refusing to do the mantilla blessing, an old Spanish tradition, because he claimed it wasn't Catholic. He was so beyond disrespectful and flat out wrong that he made me cry at my rehearsal. On our wedding day, the Rolls Royce we rented was involved in a car accident on the way to the ceremony. I quickly called my bridal party to tell them what happened and to let Father Henryk know that we were running late because of the accident. If a car accident on our wedding day was stressful enough, Father Henryk threatened to not perform the mass because of us being late. After a few choice words with him, he agreed to perform the ceremony and the mass. To make things even worse, Father Henryk repeatedly made comments about the accident and me being late during the entire ceremony. Unfortunately, everytime I watch my wedding video now I have to fast forward through the ceremony because his commentary and horrible homily make me upset all over again. Do not get married here!
