Most people were singing along. I like to participate in the mass and I felt and heard most people singing. I hoped no one minded my God given singing voice. Amen. (5 stars) - These same two associate / assistant ministers also engage very well in conversation with everyone in deep meaningful conversations. (5 stars) - These same two associate / assistant ministers also model humility / humbleness very well. (5 stars) - Worship service is traditional and simple. Just a piano and occasionally a violin or other string instruments. (5 stars) - All the ministers wear suits. There is something to be said about ministers who dress in professional suits vs. those who dress down in jeans and t-shirts. (5 stars) - All the ministers greet members and visitors after the service. For some reasons, this practice seems to be rarity. (5 stars) Cons: - Two services. I'm not a fan of churches that have multi-services or multi-campuses. But it is not a deal breaker either if other things outweigh this one problem. (2 stars) - The other two ministers (main minister and another associate / assistant minister) are much to be desired. They don't seem to enjoy engaging with the people beyond superficial talk of sports, weather, kids, etc. Nothing deeper to get to know people. (1 star) - In terms of preaching and life alignment, these same two ministers come across more as "do as I preach, not as I do or model." (1 star) - These same two ministers seem to only want to talk about the Bible in a formal classroom setting. Even to engage in Bible conversation for life application, they disengage and have no interest. (1 star) - The main minister especially appears aloof and has no interest in deeper conversations of getting to know their church members deeper. (1 star) - One associate / assistant minister's interpersonal / social skills are severely lacking. How in the world he got ordained is beyond me. (1 star) - One lay elder thinks it is the layperson's responsibility to model humility to the ministers rather than the ministers' responsibility to model humility to the layperson. (1 star) - They do not receive well feedback to improve. They see feedback as an indictment against the leadership. (1 star) Overall: Mathematically, the stars, if weighted evenly, would average out at 3 stars. However, I am weighing the Cons heavier because: - the main minister being one of the people who can learn and improve from the other two associate / assistant ministers on good people engagement and interaction. - and for ministers to be lacking in humility but instead are full of arrogance and pride is nauseating. Giving this church a 1 star. I don't review churches ever in such a public platform like this or anywhere. But I am giving Christ Church Katy an exception to this because of the sheer hubris and arrogance demonstrated by two ministers, one of whom being the main minister.

Does the leather on the Bible carry more weight than the skin of hands? I say this because for a long time I've been a weary Christian traveler trusting that God is present even when I can't see (Luke24:13-35) and also how Jesus discerned who he could entrust himself too (John2:23-25; Matt 7:15-20)." They expressed genuine apologies for what happened in the group and communicated they are actively working to make changes to the group's leadership. I don't believe this reflected their intentions for the church leadership but bad apples. Raising to 3 stars to reflect that accountability, while noting the process to get here required significant effort on my part and there's room for growth, restoration, and growing the trust back. I can sense what seems to be authenticity in the leadership of the church and this could a branch needed to be pruned. As things grow and change with evidence so will my particular rating. Hope deferred makes the heart sick, but a desire fulfilled is a tree of life. (Proverbs 13:12, ESV 2 June 2026 Updated to the reply below: I had a difficult experience at this church. A person in the 30s/40s small group made inappropriate jokes sitting next to me during the small group and there were widespread rumors of pursuing people inappropriately and I can only share my experience. When I raised concerns what I saw a system protecting itself and protecting dysfunction. I genuinely hope this changes and that people are being led toward Jesus rather than being manipulated. Just totally inauthentic and self absorbed. A good pruning of the Rose bush is necessary at this church to make room for new healthy buds. The statement that the invitation "remains open" seems contradictory because I responded to the original invitation, communicated my boundaries, and made myself available. If it was so important to have restoration we would have started by acting like grown adult Christians, communicating honestly (Ephesians 4:25). They leave space to pray and to reflect on the Lord. The sermons are so consistently solid, with practical applications and very helpful sermon notes. (I never used to keep sermon notes, but my husband and I both find ourselves saving our bulletins most Sundays because the teaching and material is so solid). My Fiance and I have always dreamed of getting married in an old, historic Church that had family ties, like Guardian Angel. I was really looking forward to speaking with them because I thought we had found our Church! I kindly asked the woman who answered the phone if they allowed non-parishioners to get married at the Church and if so, what were the fee's associated. The first thing she says to me is, "Well I have some questions for you," and began questioning/attacking me on why I wanted to get married at "their church" and why I would pick a church outside of the city I live in. She then said there were plenty of Catholic Churches in Katy we can get married at, or that I should go to the church where I was raised. I cannot repeat every word she said to me because I was in complete disbelief that a woman of God would speak to a stranger the way she did. She should be honored that people want to get married in her Church, not put them down for it. She was by far the rudest woman I have ever spoken to in my life. Family friends of mine who attend the church informed the Priest about the incident. The Priest called while I was at work but did not leave a voicemail. I returned his call, but the same woman answered the phone and said she would let him know I called. Unfortunately I have not heard from them since. Now I understand why more and more young adults like myself don't get married in the church these days.
