However,…read moreit's transformed considerably from a smallish indoor/outdoor mall into a several scattered shopping areas. Aldi anchors one section, Duluth Trading Co. another. Bass Pro stands by itself and stand-alone businesses are spread along the edges. The parking lot is nightmarish. One bottleneck occurs at busy Aldi directly inside the Fifth Street entrance. Columns hide pedestrians until they step into the traffic lane, making for sudden stops by unaware drivers. The other bottleneck is at Bass Pro due to shoppers crossing the driving lane. A better entrance is the Fairgrounds Road entry, or from Boone's Lick Drive. Mark Twain Village has a lot of variety. Lately, the Galleria has had some bad publicity of gangs and violence. I did not see anything like that. Families shopping and I felt completely safe. No empty spaces like other malls. Two full floors of shops. Then the lowest level has food court and movie theatre.

The variety of stores seem to be getting lower and poorer. The Galleria use to advertise, "Where the Best Stores put their Best Stores". Now when I stroll the mall, I'm lucky if I see a familiar branded store. I basically only come for two stores now. I shop the Apple Store, which I am surprised is still located in the mall. I would have expected them to depart to a strip center somewhere else in the metro area. The other store I frequent is Tommy Bahama, but I don't shop there as often as I use, too. I can now just go on line and have it shipped to my home. My most recent visit, I could see the wear and tear of the Galleria and a desperate need for repairs and maintenance. As long as Apple remains a tenant, I'll keep coming back.

There is a movie theater, tons of restaurants, office space, a hotel, and residential space. Do I actually enjoy it? No, this place is the 7th circle of hell for me. There is simply too much going on and the infrastructure for it isn't properly designed. The are only a couple in and out flows for the center, there aren't always stop signs so there are a lot of awkward driving situations, and then there just isn't enough parking. I always just end up going to the parking garage and going to the top level to save myself the hassle of hunting for spots. The good. There are a fair number of restaurants. If you want the buzz of an active area I get it. A lot of the restaurants are higher end, and this is a good area for people in their 40-60s. I just haven't had great experiences at any of the restaurants and the absolute pain of the ill designed center is a big negative. I don't live in St. Charles, so it isn't enough of a draw to make me want to drive west and visit this congested center. I'd take the congestion of downtown or Kirkwood Webster over this any day.

The Planet Walk is a scale model of the Solar System that stretches a half mile or so along Delmar mapping out the distances between the planets. Chuck Berry. Maya Angelou. Tennessee Williams. Nelly. The Loop is named for the Loop Trolley. It launched in 2018, hit some operational and funding issues, and ended service in 2023. This mall is only about half full store occupancy wise. It was really empty coming here in the middle of the afternoon. they had a fair selection of stores mostly chain stores or small business stores. Most of the stores aren't too bad at all, the cleanliness isn't too bad and a food court is okay for what it is. Restrooms are not the best either.

The common areas were clean, but the public restrooms not so much. The mens room could have used a quick visit by the custodian crew. I can honestly say, the only two stores worth shopping are, The Backstage at Macy's and Dillard's Clearance Center. You'll find some awesome bargains.
