But the people who work here are lovely and know most regular customers by name and ask you how you are going. Their restaurant is very cute, quite old and alright for dining in, but I prefer to share and eat at home. There is a big fish tank to keep you amused while you wait, if you have to. And they always throw in a bunch of prawn crackers, yum!

Service fairly quick however a few language issues did occur. I was enjoying it too much to take photos... but some things the four of us ordered were: * Crispy Golden Prawn Ball Dumpling ($9.5) -served w/ Sweet Chilli Sauce (3) - Probably the most boring part of the meal. * Traditional Peking Duck - ($65) Whole Duck 16 Pancakes [for 3-4p] - Just Delicious! I quite liked these however they had been drizzled with chilli oil which we both found too too hot. It spoiled the dish really. Soft shell crab was perfectly delicious. Except also drizzled with the chilli oil really people? We want to taste the food. My friend was perfectly happy at this point I however was a little underwhelmed. Dessert made up for it. Banana fritters with ice cream and caramel drizzled around. Oh yes! We topped that off with a shot of kalua each and a fortune cookie. Fortune cookie tasted fabulous, my fortune message? The cashier was helpful and friendly, explaining the different dishes. I ordered Chicken Laksa and the Pork Fried Rice- and a BEER! Most of these types of places don't have beer, but Honki Tonki does! I sat down, poured my beer, and within minutes, my soup arrived- piping hot and oh so good! The broth was perfect! I love Laksa, and it's hard to find in the US. My fried rice arrived- and, my god, this was some of the best fried rice I have ever had! So tasty, and such a great mix of ingredients. Again, it's not a fancy place, but the food is so good, so much so that I came here on my last night in Adelaide! Plus, it's open until 10 PM!

The quality of the food is fairly high - around the table we had, inter alia, an array of quail eggs, laksa and teriyaki chicken. Everybody seemed happy and well fed. The lovely folks at HT also stock their own line of delicious chilli oil at $7 a jar. Bargains galore! In fact, the true satisfaction test came 20 minutes after I walked out and realised I was feeling really full. A nice feeling when you drop $15 on a meal for lunch. Happy days. I popped the top on a lovely hills dry cider so my bill was bigger ($9 for a three oaks Adel hills cider) than a regular work lunch but today just happened to be one of those "treat yoself" sort of days. Some places around are real expensive, and honestly they all serve the same thing of a similar quality. It's not the nicest dining area in the food court, but at least it's a little quieter than other's and the crowd is alright. I'm always on the lookout for yumcha places and they all seem to be clumped in the CBD. Anyway I went to try this place out for Yum Cha one Sunday morning. While the variety is probably not as big as places loke Star House or Citi Zen, they had the yum cha classics plus a few more and what they do, they do it good. The variety was enough for me because quite often a large menu (or trolley display) comes with a lot of repetition anyway with just a small twist like prawn, prawn and chive, prawn and cabbage, prawn and water chestnut for eg. The flavours were good and I liked their steamed pork ribs the most. Their rice rolls are silky and smooth with delicious sauce and the prawn dumpling fresh and generously filled. Some places give you very chopped up prawns, I like chunks. I'm used to having a whole big prawn in it back home. Their fish cakes are a big serve and just taste ok so if you haven't got enough people to share I probably wouldn't fill up on that. Overall a great yumcha place and my new fave now!

I've been searching far and wide for the best Pho and Combo Rice in Adelaide for over 15 years. I believe this is it. You're not going to get silver service here, but the quality of the food is going to be second to none. Their X-Large combination Pho is large enough for you to take a bath in..... Lots of side veggies to go with and plenty of meat, tendon and tripe. Sure, you can leave all those things out and get just beef, but it definitely ain't as tasty. Combination broken rice, what can I say, but they certainly have the best Pork Chops. Roast pork skin/crackling is always crispy. Seriously, look no further, just go there and try those dishes, and I'm sure you'll bump into me there either on a Saturday or Sunday.
