had very high hopes for this restaurant but was very disappointed! I was looking forward to having some food from back home, but what I had was a strange twist on Mexican food. To start the food was very expensive for what it was. We had two huaraches that were way too small for the price, two tacos and two tortilla soups. They charged me for cheese on the tacos even though I said no cheeses and they brought me two meat tacos even though I had ordered chicken. In the end they gave me a bowl with chicken. They only have plastic cutlery which is very hard to cut a huarache with. The huaraches are deep fried (the tortilla part) so they were almost impossible to cut with plastic cutlery. The most disappointment part (apart from the small size) was the tortilla soup flavour and the salsa flavour. They put cumin in it (a spice typically used in curry) so everything had a curry flavour to it. That was super super disappointing because none of theirs salsas were good. Salsas are the best part about Mexican food! Their only good sauce was the avocado one. The tortilla soup tasted like curry as well Not sure if they adjusted the flavours for a more middle eastern crowd, but they can't claim aithentic Mexican when doing so! Sal y Lemon is Very Mexican. Very Impressive. This local family's roots are from Mexico, didn't catch which state. Also very Canadian. Walkthrough to order style, then they bring it to your table. Nice outdoor patio yesterday and definitely a comfortable atmosphere. Nice Twist on the Hawaiian Burrito. Take the Signature size, share it with a friend. Also, add the cheese and guacamole to the Burrito, it's so much better. Also, the mix-up when I thought I'd ordered my own was really no problem. The food is decent. They do their best to get it out to you on time. The burritos are good, but honestly the best part is that accommodate families, the have a decent sized kids play kitchen so kids stay busy (especially toddlers) and parents can talk. I ordered a variety of small tacos. They all arrived pretty quick. I asked the staff which sauces are the best, and they helped me pick out their favorites. Flavor was good, heat was good. For the money, these tacos can't be beat. Oh and they don't have changing tables in the washrooms for my tiny children, which is frustrating... So, I just changed a diaper right on the table. I love the vegetariana burrito, it's so fresh and tasty. The artwork inside the restaurant is crazy macabre Mexican - I love it! I come here for takeout. I do think the lights are way too bright for a sit down dinner. To me it has more of a fast casual feel than full service establishment. To start, we stood in line to order off of a unfamiliar menu, looking for all those favorites that we expect to see in a Mexican Eatery. We settled on 4 different Burritos. (plus 1 beer and 1 coke) The total was $54! When the food arrived, it was in paper wrap and cut in half. Was a disaster to eat. Lacked any spice or heat. (there are communal condiments of hot sauces but they were a mess and looked unclean) Over priced for cafeteria fast food which lacks flavor. Sal y Limon was one of our favourite Mexican places when we lived in East Vancouver. So we were so excited to see their second outlet finally open in South Surrey! We were there on opening night and it's as great as the original. Delicious food, friendly service and reasonably priced. Plus it's very family friendly with a dedicated kids play area. It's about time south surrey got a good Mexican restaurant. This place is great, it has great decor and atmosphere. The patio is going to be sweet in the summer. The food was amazing, the condiment bar is a neat idea where you can sample all the various salsa. The diablo was definitely hot! I had the caso con chorizo burrito and it was awesome.
