For our last night in Madrid, we decided to make a reservation at SDD as we had heard amazing things! Upon entering, we were seated immediately. Our server was very friendly and his presentation for each dish brought out made for a very fun experience. As opposed to the tasting menu, my partner and I opted to split a wide variety of dishes. It was a lot more food than we were expecting so we left very full! Some standouts were the Rolex, the smoked eel, and the artichoke. We really enjoyed this meal - definitely book a reservation as soon as possible and give it a try!

We came here for our final night in Madrid, and I couldn't think of a better place to have our farewell dinner! First, I would say that you definitely want to make reservations here. We did not have reservations, and we were nervous because there was already a line outside of the door when we arrived before doors opened at 8pm. We were extremely lucky and were able to be seated once all of the reservation guests were seated. The space is creative, where it's set up like a butcher shop, and there are a lot of fun details in the room. The service was impeccable. Dominica was our server and she was amazing. She recommended a the perfect dishes to take us through the dining experience, and we let her decide on everything. This was the best move - each dish was incredible! This is what we ordered: Artichoke, Rolex, Chuleton, mussels, octopus, veal loin, and tomata. If I had to choose, I would say that the artichoke and the mussels are a must get!! All of the dishes progressed so well and each were prepared in a special way with so much flavor and innovative techniques. The restaurant was also located in a very trendy area, so it was easy to go and find a nice place to have a drink and dance after!

This spot is so cool! Hipster af as it has the feeling of being a modern butcher shop. The presentation is very unique and artistic, so if you want an entertaining meal, this is a good bet. The waiters come by and prepare your tapas on a tray sometimes with a knife or even a blow torch. Some of the flavor combos are truly unique as well like this one ice cream dessert combo of basil, pea, black pepper, and cotton candy (sounds weird, but it was one of the best desserts I've tasted). The only thing to be very cognizant of is if you don't eat raw meat or raw fish, be sure to ask before you order as there are many raw items on the menu. Everything is very fresh though!

I found out about this place through a YouTube channel and quickly snagged a reso during our short stay in Madrid. There's 2 locations offering the same menu. We actually ate at "SDD2" which based on the website is supposed to be identical to the original. The whole resto is designed to look like a freezer and the staff are dressed like butchers. Theres a definite vibe as soon as you walk in and I loved how quirky it was. I swear their whole menu was designed to be cooked via blowtorch and knives. That meant the food was mostly cold or minimally cooked. We liked that it was playful and each item is assembled in front of you. Overall enjoyed the "show" worthiness of this place and a really cool concept.

My favorite place we went to during our Spain trip (and we went to three star Michelin)! They really focus on making the key ingredient the star here. Everything was perfectly cooked. The fried artichoke and the pulpo were probably our favorites, but we loved it all. Only wished we had room to try more! Already planning to return the next time we're in Madrid.

Ok so this review is technically for the SDD2 location, but they are not on Yelp so I will add it here! Made a reservation a few weeks prior and came for dinner on a weeknight and had an absolute blast at SSD2. Servers spoke English, which was very helpful because a lot of the items on the fixes priced menu were unique and not entirely distinguishable visibly as to what they were. €45 for the fixed menu is a great deal, staff is wonderful, the space is so cool and hip, and the food is delicious. Only thing I will say is that some of the dishes are quite adventurous, so I would highly recommend if you plan to do the fixed menu that you review all of the dishes first. You always have the option to order à la cart And I think we saw some people that got the fixed menu and swapped out some of the items. my favorites were the tempura Cod, as well as the dry age strip loin. The zucchini flowers were also so unique and delicious, definitely the sort of experience that you won't find out any average restaurant. Dessert was also amazing and the pepper ice cream with cotton candy was so fun to eat. You definitely need a reservation for this place and I highly recommend making one. I will definitely be back for lunch to try some of the other menu items that are not on the fixed menu while I am in Madrid.

Expected so much better and more from this place. It's always on the top list and was also featured on Somebody Feed Phil. On the food: Nothing special. Nothing mind blowing. Honestly all show and theatrics but mostly fell flat and was disappointing taste wise. Basically, all for the gram and nothing else. Don't get me wrong, the food wasn't horrible, it was alright - just alright. Definitely not worth the hype- unless you're just in it for the "experience" and not the actual food On the service: chaotic. Messy and horrible. They forgot some of our orders. The pacing and order of the dishes that came out was all wrong. We waited so long for other dishes while other tables that came after us were almost done. Lots of shouting and not much coordination. Just a total shit show service wise. The only redeeming thing that was good if you ask me was the dessert - the pepper ice cream wrapped in cotton candy was the only interesting thing from SDD. The only thing that truly felt and tasted more original and different and closer to what I expected. Probably the only reason why I would give it 2 stars, otherwise a 1.

Rolex = jamon + foie gras + egg yolk. Rolled up and torched.

(This review is for SDD2 which is on C de la virgen - closer to tourist central than SDD location). Really fun meal. Not Michelin but more fun than I've had at more than half of the Michelin places I've eaten at. Place looks like a hipster butcher shop. 45 euro prix fixe or you can order a la carte. The whole spiel is they prepare the food in front of you often in a kitschy fun molecular gastronomy way. Maybe not for everyone but I loved it. Taste wise - the peppercorn ice cream was my favorite course and most memorable (even more than the rolled jamon dish and the rolled beef dish). They roll it up like sushi in a sheet of flattened cotton candy, then cut it up and put a drop of strawberry syrup on top with a salted peppercorn. Finish with another sprinkle of peppercorn. Good enough to be a signature dish IMO. Surprisingly fragrant and tasty - equally fun to eat. Other dishes were mostly good, though I wasn't a huge fan of the steak but could be just me. Half of the people eating there were Spanish when I went - and a lot of them ordered the langoustine for whatever reason. (I had it and it was good but also not the best one I've ever had.) I liked that they weren't as stuffy as some of the Michelin places. Service was quite good - though casual vibe, they try to accommodate and I do appreciate the effort. Will be back to try a few other dishes next time I am in Madrid. Fun place to try for anyone who likes out of the box dining but also don't want to navigate the waitlist and/or double digit courses of the Michelin places.

Came here with my wife, son, and mother in law. We're excited to try it, as we've heard good things. But all it was was basically a circus with young guys behind the counter who think they are better than they really are. A plate from the kitchen arrives, they blast some torch fire over it, roll it out for you and folded, and serve. I can't deny it's not pretty (I would be lying). BUT the flavor and quality is really not good at all!! The foie with the yolk, etc. is basically just foie (you don't taste anything else), you can buy your own foie anywhere based on that. The octopus was slimy and had no seasoning (just charred). Sent it back because it was slimy (just clean the damn thing!). The muscles were small, and overcooked (couldn't stomach more than 5 muscles and sent it back). The damn steak was soooo chewy!! Especially considering it's cooked rare (didn't come out for like 40 minutes!) doesn't take 40 minutes to cook a rare steak. We asked what kind of cut? They said it was a chuck!! Come on now!! For that price you serve me a Chuck?? No wonder it's chewy too cooked rare!! Cook rare a filet or a an American or Japanese wagu (that cut melts in your mouth). We sent the steak back too, cause chewing it for days is just not enjoyable!! Ordered a bottle of wine, and no one ever poured it, so we kept on serving ourselves. God forbid one of their many staff members standing around would do it. Furthermore, get the bill and they kept the dishes we sent back on the bill!! No one even inquired if we wanted another one made to replace it, or what they can do to fix it. The "manager" (the kid must have been 23), at the end asked how it was as he brought the bill. Shocked that they didn't take anything off from what was sent back, we told him all the issues, and even after that he didn't even try to fix anything. We paid it in full, and never coming back to this shit show! If you want food that beautiful and tastes amazing, instead go to StreetXO

Yelp is active in Madrid. Woo hoo!!! I admit I saw this restaurant on "Somebody Feed Phil" and it was instantly intriguing. Phil called it a culinary laboratory and I would tend to agree. They have taken various proteins some which are beloved to the people of Spain and presented them with their own twist. All of the sauces and pairings where masterfully done. Madrid is known for their art museums. Every dish was art as well! I was the "New York foodie" in the house that day. The manager took note of this and made sure I got their best offerings. They would not allow me to have the traditional tasting menu but they created my own. I left thoroughly impressed. This is a spot not to be missed! Check my photos and descriptions. Some of these dishes were so creative and delicious!

Amazing, unlike anything. Smart concept, I've ever experienced before. Make reservations and come open minded to try things, you typically don't like. And Monica, "la camarera" matched the restaurant. Thank you for the experience.

A modern tapas spot. Be sure to make reservations in advance, it gets packed quick and we witnessed many walk-in guests get turned away due to no availability. MAKE SURE to check which location you reserved, I made the mistake of going to the wrong location yet they were still kind about it. They made sure to give the correct location a call to hold our spot. 5 stars on service! The interactive hands-on preparations were a lot of fun. All of the staff were friendly and will show you how to prepare the dish. A lot of these items are finger food, so i recommend ordering more than you usually would. The fried artichoke topped off with caviar was crunchy and light. The sauce paired with it worked perfectly. Beef carpaccio with truffle tasted super fresh. Octopus was smoky and tender. The white asparagus was SOOO tender and will make you not want to eat green asparagus ever again lol. Where can we find this in the Bay Area?? The panchetta roll with pate and egg was a little to rich for my tasting, but it's one of the most popular items on the menu. I personally did not enjoy the texture of the eel, it was crunchy and not crunchy in a fried way.. Overall this was a very fun experience with A1 service

An amazing meal! It's an omakase style dinner, pre fixe, with the ability to add on sides, but with the amount of food, there is no need for adding anything else. We were stuffed!! The highlights: cotton candy wrapped ice cream, and the eggplant. Those were so unexpectedly good and the flavors were surprising and delicious. I could eat a whole meal of the eggplant and be completely satisfied. Would definitely come back for a special meal!!

Family-run since its inception, recipes over a half-century old comprising a menu more sizable than one might expect given Sylkar's footprint, it is from early until late that guests sit down at the Chamberí Bar to indulge with plates steeped in history. Served via Spain's famous "rations," or media-racions for those desiring variety, it is shortly after seating that guests are offered Olives and a Beverage, Spanish-exclusive staff and descriptions built on brevity requiring a bit of knowledge (or chance taking.)
