We didn't have a reservation. Luckily we came early at 8pm and given a table for two we'd not dally as those with reservations had pre booked our table for 9. That was perfectly fine! The service was lovely. The room is understated and the staff helpful and friendly. We ordered the croquettes (perfectly fried cubes filled with potatoes and finely chopped veggies) the delicious and filling orrechetti with cream, mushrooms etc. And the ribeye with teensy salted potatoes. The two of us agreed to share it all - a good thing because not had the opportunity to test such marvelous food. I'm coming back and next time with a reservation. read more

We've been traveling Europe for a little bit, and this place was the best meal with hat in a long time we pride ourselves and call ourselves foodies Toga met and exceeded all expectations. Highly recommended joint and pretty hard to get into as they only take phone resos & rarely answer the phone. Tried for two nights & finally secured a reso late on a Thursday. Maybe it was too hyped up but I was pretty disappointed here! Started with Croquettas de Manchego.. these were very good, nice starter. Ordered the salad with pesto, etc. which sounded great in description but had very little flavor. The final act was the famed tuna crudo noodles that everyone raves about! They forgot my order and served 3 other tables the same thing, after I reminded them I finally got the damned thing. Disappointing pile of noodles with some raw tuna on top COVERED in some mayo concoction... sorry this was not very good. Staff seemed burned out & not very personable at all. Left half the mayo noodles in the bowl, paid the check and rolled out! Not sure if this was an off night but this easily the worst meal I had in Madrid. Talk later read more

Some of the best fish dishes I have ever eaten in my entire life. Seriously, do not miss this restaurant when you go to Madrid!! The hype is well-deserved. We wanted a light lunch (and were on a budget), so we only ordered the butterfish ceviche and the special noodles with raw tuna (off the menu), but every dish made me want to drop my spoon and roll around on the ground like a satisfied slug. I usually find ceviche so-so, but this one was so complex, flavorful, and well-balanced. The fish was the perfect texture. The avocado crema was the perfect complement. Then the noodles with raw tuna. Wow wow wow! The kimchi mayo sauce sounds odd but is a pure delight. It tastes like the best spicy tuna roll you've ever eaten in noodle form, each noodle perfectly coated in silky smooth sauce and bursting with umami. With each dish, we fought over every bite, and I wished my plate was bottomless. We raved about this place on Instagram, and a friend of mine ended up coming here a month later. She too fell in love with the noodles with raw tuna and gave it a glowing review. Although we didn't order as much as we wanted, everyone else's food looked stellar, especially the steak which seemed to be on every table. The restaurant was filled with locals, also a good sign. This restaurant is a sleeper. It's the spot that often no one other than the locals know about. A local friend couldn't stop telling me how much he enjoyed the cuisine. I couldn't agree more with his assessment. This restaurant has been open for about a year and is run by family and friends. You can tell they all like to have a good time as well as serve great food. Usually I make a specific recommendation but we had several items on the menu and I'd recommend trying anything. If I did have to pick one thing I would direct you toward the steaks as they tend to be an Argentine. specialty. Yoga is a very nondescript hangout spot for the locals and the food is phenomenal. Within this small establishment is a subtle decor, concrete floors and a small bar area. When we asked what the waiter recommended, he said we must try the Argentinian steak, which was amazing. So juicy, tender, probably the best steak we had in Spain on our trip. It was lunchtime so we also ordered a sandwich, the Chivito, which is a Uruguayan specialty. It was to die for! So simple. Thin, tender strips of meat, tomato, and a mayo dressing all on a delicious bun. We also shared Salad, and the olives that they bring as apps. Overall a great experience! read more

Beyond delicious. When en-route to another spot for lunch, we were following a group of gents down a very non-descript street. They entered this restaurant, we continued by. Then a couple passed us and entered. We turned around read the menu and opened the door - they had one table left without reservation. We scored! Just an outstanding experience while visiting Madrid. is located conveniently. It's about halfway between either the Tirso de Molina and La Latina Metro stop. Surprisingly, not many reviews on yelp but well worth your time. it was our favorite restaurant during a 3+ week trip to Spain. We enjoyed it so much that we came to nights in a row ( as they are closed on Mondays). While you do not absolutely need a reservation if you show up at 8 o'clock in the evening, they are popular enough that they will only give you a one hour seating time. This is enough to have a pleasant meal but if you really want to enjoy yourself make a reservation ahead of time. What makes this place so good? Of course, the food is outstanding. The pork dish melts in your mouth and on the second night I decided to get the tuna sashimi with kimchi mayonnaise special which seems to be on the menu fairly regularly.the explosion of flavor when I took my first bite was incredible. The first night I had cerviche which was fine though I think there are better choices. The thing that makes this a complete experiences that the staff is wonderful. They're hard-working, happy, helpful, and smile at you. This total ambience that they are both serving good food and also enjoy having you there is something that very few restaurants offer. at the end of our second meal, our favorite server even brought us each an aperitif to show complete our meal in typical Spanish fashion. Can't say enough about this place. We spent €40 the first night for two of us and 60 the second for meal that I would clearly be willing to spend $150-200 for the US. read more

By far, the best overall dining experience I had in Madrid. The place gets packed so I recommend making a reservation, especially during prime dinner hours (for spain: after 10pm). It was three of us and we shared a bottle of red wine, the butterfish ceviche, cheese croquettes, the tuna pasta special and the argentine style steak. Everything was so so so delicious! We ate every bit of food. The butterfish ceviche had so much flavor and tasted rich yet it was light. The chunks of fish were also nice and meaty and the portion overall was perfect. The cheese croquettes were crunchy on the outside and soooo melty on the inside. I pretty much like every croquette i've ever eaten, but these are by far the best i've ever had. The tuna pasta special-just get it and thank me later. Flavor explosion. I cant even describe the mix of flavors but i just know it all worked together. We wish we had more of it! Argentine steak was yum and cooked to perfection. For the quality of food and service, the prices here are reasonable. The staff were all so friendly, helpful and accommodating to us who didn't speak Spanish. A must go if visiting Madrid! read more

An underrated gem. Best meal I had in Madrid or Barcelona over 10 days. Unfortunately most of the 4.5 to 5 star restaurants on Yelp and Tripadvisor I encountered in those two cities were overrated, and likely would have scored 3-3.5 stars had they been located in SF or NYC. Toga was a welcome exception that really restored my faith in fellow travelers. The menu is Argentinian fusion with Italian and Japanese influences. Appetizers are around 8-9 euro, and entrees 11-12 euro, with the exception of the steak (around 20 euro). The place was almost empty at 8 PM on a Sunday night, but slowly filled up with an even mix of Spanish regulars who knew the owners and tourists. Overall it seemed less touristy than other places rated on Yelp. My gf and I got 1 appetizer, 3 entrees, and 1 dessert. Each dish was very good, but the true standouts were the ones our waiter recommended--the butterfish ceviche, the Iberian pork, and the kimchi mayo pasta. The butterfish lived up to its name, with a rich, fatty flavor and melt-in-your-mouth texture that paired perfectly with the accompanying lime marinade and avocado cream. The Iberian pork was a revelation: a well-seasoned, sirloin-like cut that was lightly crisped on the outside and cooked to a juicy, tender medium inside. Roasted peppers and balsamic glaze played nicely against the savory richness of the pork. Don't be afraid of a little pinkness in the meat--it's a testament to the quality of the pork they use. I'm normally skeptical of Asian fusion, but the signature kimchi mayo (really a kimchi cream sauce) pasta with tuna was surprisingly delicious. The noodles were fresh, lightly coated with what tasted like a soy glaze, and just slightly over al dente. The kimchi mayo had just enough heat to balance with the richness of the mayo and worked well with the big, tender chunks of tuna. The squid ink risotto was well done--creamy, with the umami from the squid ink and some garlic chips on top--but wasn't as extraordinary as the other dishes. To be fair, it would probably still get get 5 stars and rave reviews at other tourist-trafficked places in Madrid. We finished with the pineapple with mascarpone, lime, and white chocolate. The pineapple came in hefty chunks with sweet syrup, and though delicious, may have come from a can. The mascarpone was excellent--somehow creamier than normal, with a hint of white chocolate and refreshing notes of lime. It was perfect for us because we had such a heavy and rich meal, but the other chocolate-based desserts might be more impressive on their own. We had a great Argentinian waiter who was friendly--and very forward--and made excellent recommendations. Despite being fairly local-oriented, they were welcoming to us and other tourists who stepped in. We paid just under 60 euro for 4 dishes, 1 dessert, and 2 glasses of wine. I almost don't want this place to get more popular. It was that good. read more

We discovered this place last year shortly after it opened. We ate there 3-4 times during our 3 month stay in Madrid. We came back this week for a 5 night stay; ate there again last night with friends. All of us got something different and all were excellent. Our guests said it was their favorite place so far, on their 3 week stay in Spain. Mostly locals, fewer tourists but super welcoming to all. The young friends that run the place are energetic, passionate and friendly and for those that don't speak Spanish, they speak plenty to help explain any dish to you. Eclectic menu with something for everyone. My wife who rarely eats dessert, tried their chocolate lava cake and said if every lava cake tasted like their's she would have to have dessert every night! You won't be disappointed unless you fail to secure a reservation; small place, so call ahead. read more

I found this hidden gastronomic gem trough a friend. Fantastic food, personal and attending service and at the same time great prices. This restaurant deserves a recommendation in the Michelin guide and everyone with a night to spend in Madrid should try it! While on vacation in Madrid, I was having a difficult time finding food that I really liked. I read the reviews for Toga and decided to make dinner reservations there for my birthday. Toga did not disappoint!!!!! The reviews were spot on.....the food was AMAZING!!! They had a menu in English and all of the wait staff spoke English as well, which was a benefit, as our Spanish was limited. We ordered based on what our waiter suggested and were happy we did. We started with the ceviche (butterfish), which just melted in our mouths. Definitely mix it up before eating to blend in the avocado cream!! Then we ordered 2 orders (for 4 people), of the noodles with tuna. Wow, I thought nothing could compare to the butterfish, but this rivaled it for sure! I could have ordered and eaten one of each just for myself, because I didn't want the meal to end. Last we ordered the Iberian pork and again, the flavors were to die for!!!!! Not only was the food incredible, the atmosphere was comfortable and the waiters were friendly and very helpful!! So glad we concluded our trip to Madrid with a meal at Toga.
