This is the third time I have dined here ... and I must confess, last night was because a very dear…read morefriend of mine lives nearby, and this is her favourite haunt ;) I am as surprised as you probably are that I am giving Imperial Prince a 4 star rating, especially considering this is one of those Chinese restaurants in the suburbs which have probably been here FOREVER (well, *quite* a long time) ... and sometimes foodies tend to overlook places that are kinda daggy and totally Westernised. But ... service as soon as we arrived was outstanding. Friendly, but professional. We started off with vegetarian spring rolls which were your basic spring rolls - tasty, not greasy at all. Wine list was quite extensive too, which is a bonus! For mains, we shared the BBQ Pork Ribs with Plum Sauce, Satay Beef and Sizzling Chicken with Garlic. My partner's 6 year old ordered what all 6 year olds would probably order ... chicken nuggets and chips. No, not very Chinese, but I guess the restaurant knows what a good kids menu should include! All our main meals were outstanding - and yes, I was surprised! Especially the BBQ Pork Ribs, which could be 'cut' with a spoon (and had hardly any bones). I swear the meal wasn't as good as this last time we visited (which was about a year ago) - I am seriously impressed, and already planning a return visit. Oh, and 3 adults and 1 child for a total of $85 (and that included a glass of wine for each adult) - well, that's even better ;)

Attentive but discreet service, and beautifully cooked food. Only 4 stars because the plum sauce…read morecould have been a little tangier (it was a little bland), but the duck was perfectly cooked and delightfully crisp. Yum!

So after struggling to find a decent Chinese restaurant in the berbs, I did have high expectations for this gem. Although the street appeal probably isn't anything to woo at, and inside is a tad bit dated, yet is still humble in a family restaurant kind of way. I feel it may have been the owners who were working the front of house, and they were both lovely. They clearly have been in the business a while and did a good job and making us feel comfortable, and giving us a little giggle as well. The menu had heaps of choose from. Seemed as if there were a few extra options compared to other basic Chinese restaurants, including a traditional and western dessert menu. I had the Chicken Satay dish off the chef special menu. It was amazing. The sauce was flavoursome and certainly didn't seem like out of a jar type of thing. It was served with broccoli pieces as well as a little burning flame in the middle of the plate. My partner had the Sizzling Steak Mongolian style dish and the pieces were tender and juicy, with lovely sweet and tangy Mongolian flavours through-out. The plate was also served with vegetables. I love this place. It's my new found gem. I've been searching a while for a nice place to grab some quality Chinese food, and I think I've found my stop. This place isn't anything designer or high-end perhaps, but it still possess a charming old-school look and humble home-style meals, which is something I look when dining at Asian restaurants in the berbs.

The staff is just about as friendly as you can get.. Service was quick and prices where very good. Food was good, I have had better but it's defiantly the best Chinese food in the area. Not much to look at on the outside (that's if you Notice it at all!) and th inside has had the same decor for the last 20+ plus years, but the food is without fault! So for the first time in what must be 30 years, the question must again be asked, who has the best Chinese takeaway food in the hills? Balhannah is definitely in contention, I swear the same lady has been working there for at least 5 years so there's clearly some experience there. The location is pretty good. There's generally some pretty convenient parking available right outside. And the dine-in setting isn't terrible, with big windows looking out on the Balhannah main street. Plus they've got a byo alcohol licence, and the pub's next door. So you can totally have your fav pinot noir with your black bean beef. The food is also pretty good. The special fried rice is around the standard you'd hope for. One of my fav Chinese Australian dishes is sweet and sour pork. They do this quite well, I've had some shockers before. Also, just incase you weren't sure about value for money the prices aren't super cheap, but a large order does get you complimentary prawn crackers! Value! If Balhannah can be consistent, this could definitely be the best of hills Chinese food.

Not only is it around the block, but it's not very noticeable where it is located, and I had to look twice before I saw it. The first thing I did was to check out the menu out the front of the restaurant. And the prices!!! Oh my... they're rather expensive. You're looking at just shy of $20 for a meal. In Chinatown you can get a nice meal for around half the price. I hopes the food would match the prices, and to be honest the bar was set pretty high at $17.50 for a satay chicken. To be honest the food was actually pretty decent. The thing is that both Chinatown and Port Adelaide are roughly the same distance away from my house. Given the option I'd head to the CBD any day. Good but not worth the high price.

I will be a regular whenever I am in Adelaide. Again, absolutely BRILLIANT!!!!
