They give me the run around to pick up my tank, 30day's, 60 day's, 90 day's and then customers who need propane are first because of winter. It set on my property for just shy of 1 year ,and my contract has been paid in full but they're sending me a bill yet. I feel I should have charged them a storage bill ,that means to me my bill is Paid! read more

Wait time on the phone 20 minutes and I am first in line. We have not used propane for 2 years and we are still being billed.

Tried to become a customer, but they told me they did not know the price. Incompetent and fishy. Then, I could not ask questions nor communicate with the business because the rude woman blabbed aggressively over my attempts at speech. "Shanty" condescendingly spoke to me like a were a dogpile. She screamed something vague about a sister company--not Superior Plus--, so if you call them, this other company is hiding behind the small-town Salem Propane name and reputation. Only gave one star because Yelp forced me to click on at least one star. read more

Currently still on hold for 1 hour 10 minutes and counting for the second time. To get them to come pick up their empty tank that I haven't used in about 2 years. But want to charge me for even though I have done this before. Don't use these guy's prices start low then double. read more

The office staff is very professional and friendly, they always answer the phone when I call and answer all of my questions. The drivers are all very professional and friendly as well. They kept my tank full all winter long as promised when I switched to automatic delivery. They worked with me to get me on a monthly budget also. I have had other propane companies that I have struggled with in the past and I had a very good experience with Salem this winter. read more

Jan 10, 2024 (Canfield, OH) - This company is grossly mismanaged. Would give a negative number if it was an option. This will be the second time this 2024-2025 heating season that we have run out of propane, despite giving ample notice of our tank level starting at 30% at least a week in advance in both cases. The company's dispatcher claims lack of qualified drivers, drivers calling off, etc. for their performance failure. Similar situation last year. It appears being acquired by Superior (Inferior) Plus did not translate into business success. Yet if you want to pay their $200+ "emergency fill" fee you may actually see a truck pull up. We will have their tank removed this spring and find a fuel provider who can actually deliver product when it is most needed. read more

Southwest Fuels was a great business till Salem Propane took over. If you have oil, you better call sooner than wait till you have 1/4 of a tank, cos you'll be waiting till you run out or have to fill it your self till they manage to get to you. I had over a $500 credit and could not get oil for over two weeks, due to my driveway that had been plowed twice and salted, same story the previous year. I was putting in $100 of fuel to keep the house going myself, I called another provider and got fuel the next day without a problem getting into and up my drive. Some of the staff are rude. I called to cancel the supposed delivery and told them I wanted a check for the credit, that was talking to the manager, I called daily she was in a meeting, not here today, blah blah blah. I sent an email to the owner and manager explaining my situation, that came back undeliverable and this is from their website! I sent a snail mail, finally 2 days later the manager calls and explained they only write checks on Fridays???? It took 2 1/2 weeks to get my money back. I had a good 15yrs with Southwest fuels before Salem Propane took over. Their customer service is terrible, they must be short staffed on drivers, and it's become very disorganized. So buyer beware, and propane, they are 30cents higher, than anyone else, so you're not paying for tank or installation, that's where they justify that price. So buyer beware...I've taken my business elsewhere. read more

I was tired of being under Amerigas' tyranny. They own the tank and are exclusive to providing propane. A neighbor bought his own tank and left Amerigas. He was pleased with the change, so I took the plunge. I purchased a tank from Salem Propane and kicked Amerigas to the curb. The propane prices have been approximately 1/2 of what Amerigas charges. Amerigas would make me wait sometimes 2 weeks for delivery. Amerigas also wanted to charge me for tank removal when they didn't bill my neighbor for that.I called Salem Propane at 3pm on Monday and they were in the driveway at 9:30 the following morning. They are great people to deal with on the phone as well. Make the switch folks, you won't be disappointed. read more
