Great stadium in a beautiful setting. Great place for families and businesses. Watching the Salem Red Sox takes me back to when baseball was simple and didn't rely on high paying players and stadiums with techno features. Here you have a simple open stadium with the natural beauty of the Blue Ridge Mountains as a backdrop. The fans are a wide range of ages and peoples all having a good time watching baseball and, if they are old enough, drinking local craft beers or eating really good food. For a business event I rented a 50 person club room. What a bargain. Room, food and lots of beer and sodas for 50 people and it all came in under $2000. Our server, Rachael, was fantastic. She worked the room by herself but always made sure we were stocked up in food and beverages. I got a lot of positive feedback from the group and will definitely do this again!

Great park, great staff, delicious beer!!! It was $2 hot dog night and the hot dog wasn't amazing. But what do you expect for $2. The fries were very good. Awesome promotions coming up so I will DEFINITELY be coming back to watch some more games with my pop!!

We chose to use a sky box at the Salem Red Sox ball park to host a Birthday party for my 90 yo Mom. The staff offered to.let my Mom through out the first pitch. She did this!!. All the Red Sox staff made her feel celebrated and welcome. I was blown away by how gracious the crowd was at the ball park. People kept stopping my Mom and wishing her happy birthday! read more

My friends and I drove down to watch the Salem Red Sox. One of my friends is a big Red Sox fan and we were surprised at how underwhelming our experience was. We decided to watch the Single A and Double A teams of the Red Sox for the weekend. We were surprised that we actually enjoyed the game in the Diamond in Richmond, VA over the Salem Red Sox stadium. The Diamond has been considered one of the worst minor league ballparks in the country. Coming to this game, we had high expectations for Salem. Maybe it was the gameplay or maybe it was the concessions or both at Salem. Pros - Free Parking - Friendly staff - Mini Fenway Park - Wiffleball Field - Banners featuring former big league Red Sox players - Mugsy the Mascot - The view of the mountains in the outfield Cons - The prices of concessions and team store were pricey. - Although staff were friendly, they were hard to locate at times - The promotion was hyped very well on social media but not so much at the game - Long wait for ice cream - If there are die hard fans, we didn't see it or get a feel for fans of the Salem Red Sox. read more

Food is pricey. No peppers for the nachos. Which I had to go back a second time because they got the cheese everywhere but in the container, and then it was only a quarter way full. No spicey mustard for the pretzels. When asked the staff stated rudely we dont carry that. Regular mustard or beer cheese thats your choice. If they did upgrades to the stadium they might want to get a refund. The scoreboard is blurry, the batting order is crammed into the left side of the board. You can enjoy the game, dont waste your money on over priced food that you can get better out of a food truck read more

It is wonderful to have a minor league farm team in the area, but the stadium is lacking. The cost of the concession stand should offset some of the disrepair, with cracked faded seats, dripping faucets in the restroom, stalls that are questionable sturdiness one with a coat hanger to use for a lock. There is the double edge awareness that in order to have updates there has to be people in there. The announcers are not interactive, can barely hear them and the interaction between innings lacks engagement. Seems like a lot needs to change for this to be enjoyable, outside of watching baseball. read more

Lewis-Gale Field at Salem Memorial Park is a great outing no matter who you are. There is great fun to be had if you're a family with small children or if you are college students looking for cheap entertainment. I went on 1 entrance, drinks, and hot dogs night and the atmosphere was great. The fans and workers were friendly and polite and I was impressed with the entire experience. There was a bouncy area for small children and a miniature size Fenway Park for older kids. Overall, I had a great time. read more

I have been to a number of baseball games, I have never truly experienced baseball this close and personal. The game was great, the seats were great, 2nd row behind home dugout ($9.00 a seat!!!). I suggest going on Thunder Thursday's (cheap beer night). Once it was all said and done we ended up getting a dozen autographs from very friendly players (potential big leaguers), a ball and a broken bat. It was an incredible experience for me and my family. The food options were a lot better than some other ball parks I have been to. I look forward to going back next season... read more

Great place to take the kids. Good product on the field and a clean park everytime we have have been there. There is a model of Fenway Park for wiffle ball behind left field. My only negative is the highway robbery they commit at the concessions stand. I expect 7 dollar beers at at a ballgame, but the food prices are off the charts at 3.50 a hot dog. So eat before you go or expect to drop $100 for a family of four. Season ticket holders have a kids eat free option on Sundays and at 6.50 a ticket with the season ticket package it's well worth it if you go to more than 5 or 6 games a season. read more

For Class A Minor League Baseball; Lewis-Gale Field is one of the best stadiums to watch a baseball game. It is actually rather majestic to watch the beginning of a game as the sun is setting in the Blue Ridge Mountains. The Red Sox offer many promotions; be sure to show up early to take advantage. Dollar Mondays has to be one of the best entertainment deals period - $1 Admission, Hot Dogs, Popcorn, Chips, Drinks and Cheap Beer. read more

In addition, they have a lot of tennis courts for enthusiasts to practice their shots. They also have several different sized picnic areas and shelters for cookouts with family and friends. My wife and I often enjoy walking the scenic trail in the evening. My only complaint is that the trail is showing a lot of over growth of weeds through the gravel. All in all, Walrond Park is a beautiful place for the local community to enjoy.

Which is really all it is, with 7,000 seats and not much happening here beyond High School football. First-Hand Experience: Info on my personal visit to this stadium - I don't tend to visit high school stadiums, but I had a friend that went to school here years ago, so I came to see her team play with her. Then very recently I came back just for the sake of memories. It hasn't changed a bit. It's a nice stadium, nothing too amazing. Pretty small. That's what she said. I've been to every cool stadium in the UK & North America, due to my obsession with travel & sport. I've toured America as a musician for 7 or 8 years. In that time, I've seen sports games at, or visited when empty (and usually both), at almost every major stadium in US and Canada. I have pictures of most which I will upload at some point. Also, on future travels, I plan to take new pix, and add more stadia! Watch this space! ***back to regular review*** It has turf and opened in 1985. The Virginia Swarm did play here but I've been swarm to secrecy about that and I've swarm not to even mention it. The Stagg Bowl is hosted here every year, so that's the claim to fame of the stadium. That's the championship game for NCAA Div III schools.

I have to say, this is one of the nicest, in part because there is such an active community of dog lovers invested in making and keeping this an outstanding site for doggy adventures. The site has fenced areas for small and large dogs, both of which have grass (a rarity in the Bay Area). The large dog side recently had new sod placed after the grass had been decimated by a year of four pawed madness; unfortunately it did not take particularly well, but it is certainly better than a dust bowl. There are several trees offering plenty of shade on those sweltering summer days with fireflys dancing around the grounds on warm summer nights keeping the human and canine patrons entertained alike. It is generally very well attended, particularly in the evening and on weekends of the spring and summer months. Of course, only the hardcore enthusiasts partake on those cold winter days. There is also plenty of seating for those that are weary after chasing their canine companion, who refuses to leave its favorite location, around the park. The only down sides from my perspective are: 1) One will regularly run across unclaimed piles of dog excrement , probably because the park is large and on a hill which can make keeping a track of a dog challenging. 2) When the grass dies (and I'm sure it will again) the dust and mud (when raining) become problematic. 3) There is a silly fake fire hydrant that only serves to butcher playing dogs as they careen into the object while gallivanting around the park. All around it is one of the best dog parks I have attended, and the number is considerable.

The grist mill is absolutely iconic, sitting atop a picturesque waterfall. The park has a mountain lake for water activities, plenty of trails, and even cabins for longer stays! There's an Almost Heaven swing right by the mill and visitor's center, and the CCC stonework is stunning. The New River Gorge bridge is about 20-30 minutes away depending on how well you drive on mountain roads, and there's plenty to do in the area for a fun weekend or even longer! It's just been overlooked for seven years. Sometimes it seems like I live at a pool since I'm on the road around the country conducting swim meets as an official. Often my son competes at the same meets. The center is funded by the city of Christiansburg and Virginia Tech as the team trains and competes at CAC. The pool is roughly eight years old. The location is in town. Parking is limited which always creates issues with large meets. Off street parking is free and legal if no signs. There is an athlete drop off in front. It's not covered. Parking in the rear near the pool is for hospitality, coaches and officials. My most recent visit was my son attending a Breaststroke clinic with VT head coach Sergio Lopez last December. The deep end diving area was utilized for the small two day camp with 22 participants. The centers competition pool is a 50 meter Olympic size with platform diving. Pool temps have always been correct. Air temps are comfortable. Deck space is limited and is an issue with large meets. Air quality is fair. The spectator area is large and good from most seats. CAC has a nice digital scoreboard. However the location at the very end is not optimal. The facility is immaculately kept. The venue also has an Adventure pool with slide. This pool is used for warm up/cool down during competitions. Swim lessons are also conducted here. It's a nice bright area with windows top to bottom. I'm sure I will be back at some point. But CAC is not currently on my 2020 schedule.

I took my family to the game this past Saturday and had a wonderful time. The park is beautiful and has an amazing atmosphere. I love all the activities for the children and fans to help keep everyone involved in the game. My son also had his baseball banquet at a game about a month ago. Such a great way to make the kids feel special and supported. The kids were allowed to run out on the field with the players and were also announced to the crowd. Truly a great experience for children. read more
