Money was exchanged for services and this is a review of my experience with those services. I support FDS Construction as a family owned business. I believe they do good work. I understand the challenges small business owners face with managing projects and we do the best we can. However, as the consumer, when the dust cleared and the work was done, in my opinion, there were gaping holes in quality and service. Unfortunately it felt like the next project took precedence over wrapping up my renovation project. There were unfinished projects that were promised to be rectified, but never were. The worst offense was that a a pre existing gaping space between the basement wall and the great outdoors was not filled in. I ended up going to Ace Hardware to buy foam filler and do it myself. Overall, I was left unsatisfied and really disappointed. The project started out great and lost steam. I thought it was a pretty straightforward basement renovation, so I'm not sure what the issues were. In hindsight, I should've held the final payment until all the "little fixes" were completed. In my industry, it's all in the details, and I expect the same from anyone I work with, especially in the construction. I'm not sure what I could've done differently other than parked myself downstairs all day to keep my eye on the work, which is exactly the opposite what I wanted in hiring a contractor in the first place. In terms of the staff and crew, they were really nice. Timely and super pleasant. Again this is a business and services review, not vengeance or any sort of malice (you know how folks be on Yelp). I pray it isn't seen this way and I pray this is helpful.

I've seen contractors spend far too long on projects and offer overly large windows of time when they might arrive, so I had to research carefully to find a good one. Rob, from Giordano and Burns, gave us a specific time to expect him, and he showed up right on time. He gave us a fair price and a detailed rundown on the parts and labor. Giordano and Burns also enters a written contract with their customers so that customers know they can hold the company to its word and timeframe. I was prepared to have to sweep up any debris left from the job, but I ended up not having to because they leave the place as clean as it was when they arrived. Years down the line that stair support Giordano and Burns put in has shown no signs of weakening. I can relax knowing that my dad is not going to hurt himself on those stairs. It's difficult to come by a contractor you can trust, but I would use Giordano and Burns again any time!

I WAS REFERRED TO THIS COMPANY AS MINE PREVIOUS ONE HAD RETIRED AND WAS O LONGER AVAILABLE. This company IS overpriced and not very upfront on pricing. Their estimates we're done as a punch list with no individual pricing but just a total. When I questioned this I was given some silly explanation, aka, lip service . I feel they did it this way so they couldn't be shopped or compared. They work they DID was FAIRLY simple and did not take a master craftsman , as they sold themselves to be. New steps from garage into house, unfinished entry way steps. They priced them as new wood and used the old wood from the handicap steps that were there being replaced. The new steps are crooked, not level, or to code, and splintering because of them using old wood that had been drilled and nailed previously. I had them seal a newly installed entry door to garage. He used canned foam and leFT it all over the place , did not trim it when dry and also missed areas around the door. Messy, horrible work. I could have done a better job. He ordered latches for my Anderson windows. The originals were broke. He assured me he knew what to order, and he had plenty of time to get it right. Came here the day scheduled for all this work, with latches from big box store that they installed. Never checking to see if windows would still open and close. Well they didn't. I had to wait 3 weeks for him to get new, Anderson latches and come switch them. They were due at my home at 4 PM. I had an appt. and they were aware of this. At 4:30 I received a text saying traffic was a mess and they were on their way. I left , as I could not be late. I had them leave the latches and I switched them myself. The scheduled day of all this work they were due at my house in the AM. I was leaving work to meet them and let them in. They never called. At lunch time they still had not called, texted or reached me. I came home at lunch and still now workers. No correspondence. Finally showed up mid day and was still at my home after dinner and than complaining about how long they were here and how they still had another job. OVERBOOKED, OVERPRICED, SLOPPY AND UNPROFESSIONAL. I WOULD NEVER RECOMMEND THIS COMPANY . MAYBE THEY FELT THEY COULD PULL THE WOOL OVER MY EYES AS I AM A WOMAN? Just stating how I see things. I FELT IT WAS THE RIGHT THING TO DO, writing this review TO LET OTHERS KNOW. BUYER BEWARE!!!!!!!!

I had two very bad prior experiences and was very frustrated with contractors. For the job that we had him do - remodeling bathroom, finishing and painting the hallways, and fixing hard wood floor, I had 6 quotes, and decided to use him based on his knowledge at the estimate, price, and very good online rating on service magic ( I didn't get him through service magic, though). He was recommended by the person who sold us the shower enclosure. We had to wait 3 weeks before he could come to work for us, but the wait was completely worth it! He and his crew were very polite, hard working, and cleaned after themselves each day. He also found an additional problem that we had with our toilet which we were not aware of and fixed it for us, saved us hundreds of dollars and hassle down the road. The end product of their work is amazing. The bathroom is beautiful and the hallway became the best painted area of the house. It is night and day compared to our prior contractors from Philadelphia. We want him to come back for any other remodeling work that we have around the house. We highly recommend him to our friends and colleagues. I am so glad that we've found him because he provides exceptional value for his service.
